I so much loved the IQ test , it made me to really crack my brain to think very well and I to new things ,it will be nice if it should continue like this.  This will definitely help members to think well in answering questions.
I just did not crack my brain for that instead asked google to find me the answer  Tongue Cheesy. With the kind of questions that were in the IQ test during April fools day which were direct questions, cracking your brains will not usually fetch the answer most of the time and it is easier to search in google rather than finding answers that i was hearing for the first time  Cheesy.

When I saw the IQ test, I wasn't moved. Though I haven't witnessed 1st April in this forum before, I registered May, a month after April. What I did was to go through the replies and I saw how frivolous they were, I knew it shouldn't be taking seriously.
I have seen users say it's a custom in this forum that Theymos drops an April fool post yearly, I wish he can omit one year and come the next year with something that will shake everyone.
Again, as CryptoprenuerBrainboss said, he can bring this innovation in but with crypto related questions. It will be cool.

It's surprising to see an aged account sch as this one to have take this phenomenal old joke by Theymos seriously. Apparently, you've not been very active @OP and your account seems to have been revoked for a hunch I rather have but not say but, its just April fool's day being 1st of April and Theymos often comes up with things like this to lighten the mood of the forum users. You can as well be expecting something new come 1st of April,  2023.

The initiative of this one was fun while it stayed, although I didn't like the idea that, it was to be a means to determining who stays or makes posts on the forum but, that was the fun part, to make users shake in there boots. Making your first post already gave you a 100 IQ score and you could either increase it by answering a few more or stay the score by choosing not to answer. Also, refreshing the page brought brought different question. It was that flexible to accommodate all. It's gone now, don't be fooled twice but, play the game either ways!

It's just there to say that some people are not even bothering to read any new stuffs happening in the forum at all. I am not surprised that some members cannot move on from that April Fools joke by theymos.

It was a funny April Fools Joke. Let's see what theymos has for us next year. lol
The KYC ones was funny back then, ngl.

I really wonder what impact the IQ could have to do with bitcointalk forum and in determining the quality of a post but am sure many had thought ii was really a serious implementation to the forum, members on the forum with less than a year experience could actually thought its mean as i also fall a victim in such category, but i come to think of the experience members that perform low in their IQ test, would they really got banned after several years of tremendous hardworks? The forum has birth lot of members to the
occasion of Aprill fool.

Theymos is brilliant in doing an April Fools event like this in Bitcointalk. Until now, there are still a lot of members who are really believing about the new IQ system, but they’ve forgot on what day is that date hehe. I wonder what unique idea does he have for next year’s April Fools? Can anyone speculate?  Grin

There is new mechanism in bitcointalk.org, now before posting you have to answer a very tough question and that tells your IQ level. I see it something as to stop people from commenting too much or you can comment too much if you are willing to answer too many tough questions correctly.
Is it something same like merit system Huh
Thats only an event for april fools day. But some considering it to be added to prevent bots. But Im sure many complain will be rise from it. Of course a lot will surely not like it as it is a hindrance to easy posting probably most bounty hunter are gonna complain to it. But in a sense it will be helpful to avoid such spamming.

Like what most have mentioned, this is a yearly event made by theymos during April Fool's Day where he creates this sort of jokes/antics where the forum adds an additional spin to posting. Before, we had customize titles; now we got some IQ level questions being asked and it reflect your current IQ in the forum.

Like what @Welsh also mentioned, I hope that this kind of questions be implemented in the forum as a form of educating everyone about cryptocurrencies. By posting some random and simple questions, beginners can participate and see the answers for their queries. I hope this kind of implementation will be soon adopted and be heavily considered by theymos.

This IQ test is a very fun system and can increase the author's insight.
but unfortunately it's just an April Fool's joke from Theymos which they always do every year at the beginning of April. (that's what the seniors told me).

but I really took this joke and took it seriously. I even created a question thread for everyone ( https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.59711259 )

I can't wait for next year. what theymos will do for april fools jokes in the coming year.
I think at this time even @theymos don't know what he will come up with next year April fool plan so forget about it because it still year ahead. The best part is to enjoy these things on time with excitement and after a day it's all over.As you can see now we all are having zero IQ again Grin .

Yes this new system has been initiated by @theymos to reduce the spam posting on the forum as he was unable to tolerate all the shit poster on the forum but i think you have qualified it already as the limit for IQ is 120 so you can carry on your forum journey mate. Grin

Just kidding this is the forum tradition of celebrating the April's fool day by @theymos so don't worry about it.

I’d vouch to leave it permanently, with questions regarding Bitcointalk’s rules and etiquette + bitcoin/Bitcoin related questions. BIQ (Bitcoin/BitcoinTalk IQ) could then lead to perks (tbd) …
I am also comfortable if this system is implemented and it would be fun and chance to learn more about the bitcoin if the MCQ questions are only forum and bitcoin related otherwise if it is carried the current way some members can also participate in reality quiz show winning millions Grin.

A warning to members below the post would be great initiative to help them and avoid such mistakes that can force them to leave the forum. But will see how it ends.

The only issue I see if generating the questions, and coming up with the answers. Although, I think this could be a ongoing community effort. Then, before they're published they're reviewed by others. So, theymos would just need to implement something that allows us to work together as a community to add new questions over time.
This could definitely be community oriented like for the first part the @theymos could set up few questions bitcoin and forum related that will be shown down the post reply box with options similar to we have here .This coud definitely start some motivational concept for members to increase their IQ level like they now wants to rank up with merit system.

Later on one seperate thread could be made to submit the questions or some members could voluntarily take care this job to set up some more questions time to time. This is not some burden or way to restrict new members from joining the forum but they can learn fast and with self motivation to grow on the forum with knowledge and compete with others. But in the end the decision lies with forum adminstrator @theymos and current merit system is also very good..

You don't have to answer them by the way. If you don't want to partake in the April Fools day joke, then you can just ignore it, and post like you normally would.

I’d vouch to leave it permanently, with questions regarding Bitcointalk’s rules and etiquette + bitcoin/Bitcoin related questions. BIQ (Bitcoin/BitcoinTalk IQ) could then lead to perks (tbd) …
Yeah, forums rules is something I glanced over, but I previously thought that Bitcoin questions could be beneficial. There would be no real downside to implementing it, as it could be optional. However, as soon as you introduce a way of comparing yourself to other users, that's when the motivation factor kicks in. Its why gamification is used everywhere, and why old arcade games which were pretty meaningless had high score leaderboards, which people are still playing today to get higher scores.

The only issue I see if generating the questions, and coming up with the answers. Although, I think this could be a ongoing community effort. Then, before they're published they're reviewed by others. So, theymos would just need to implement something that allows us to work together as a community to add new questions over time.

Today it's April fool's day. Theymos decided to throw a hard joke on us this early morning to at least shake the forum a bit.
If this is to be real, a big catastrophe will happen in the forum. So many top members of the forum will be banned because of their low IQ test results even me

While we’re at it, since adding the questions to the "Post Reply" box were feasible, I’d also leave a permanent visible reminder not to plagiarize on the forum, lest BIQ be brought down to a value of 0 on the offender’s account, leading to a permanent ban.

If it stays, and perhaps becomes the new norm, IQ level cannot be said to be same thing as merit system. Merits show that a user is not so new here and has valuable contributed in one way to forum, the other IQ Level is to validate per post that a user is not completely dumb, regardless of how long they have been here.

I see it something as to stop people from commenting too much
This forum as far as i have known has always encouraged shared perspective on various topics as a means to learn, trying to discourage users to stop commenting seems like a deviation from that.

At the end of April fools day, we will know the truth Grin

It's nothing serious, that's just a April fool's joke that theymos always do yearly. It's now like a tradition on the forum, we expect something unique every year, Read through thread to understand it's a joke; IQ testing now required before posting. Although this could be effective if it gets implemented, just maybe the question be more bitcoin related instead of general knowledge.

Personally I have done some research myself in trying to get the correct answers just to get myself more enlightened because I have seem quite some interesting questions but before the research I just tick any random box. Now imagine if this were Bitcoin/cryptocurency related, pretty sure I would have gotten some valuable knowledge that could be actually useful even though this was just a joke.
