I know I'm late to the party as usual, but did anyone else, like me, just simply ignore the tooty fruity colored quiz and just post?
As it obviously was merely April foolery.  (obvious to me anyway, apparently, not to many other folks)
Everything worked fine. Also I didn't want to mess with my default 100 IQ score, because that was special...

everyone with an IQ below 120 will be banned.
Goodbye 87.33% of Bitcointalk users!

Ha! more like 95%  ....but that's why I love this place, lol

You got it. Look at the time zone theymos created this thread. This is April fools.
Let me tell everyone that, This is April Fools
....

You don't say...

...
Which brings up an interesting dilemma - should we avoid reading posts made by users with low IQs? ...

Imagine if there was an AI bot filter for that.
Hell, you could probably read the entire bitcointalk.org post history in under an hour....

This is a joke, isn't it?

No its entirely serious. Theymos always makes great improvements to this forum on April 1st.

It will depend of what rank do we have on the forum? I mean if there is a Legendary account with an IQ below 120, still gets banned?

No because then all us legend folk would be banned.

God damn, I ate this up like a sandwich 🥪 😅😅😅

No worries,
Its not like you were the only fish in the pond...

I wasn't logged in yesterday but maybe we can replace our current login captcha where we have to select different pictures to show that we aren't a bot.
Why not replacing it by questions about Bitcoin?
Would be beneficial for everyone and keep the shitposters busy for a while.  Cheesy

Maybe the best part of the prank is when we do not know what theymos has planned for us but all know something is definitely about to happen. It almost really is something like expect the unexpected  Grin

At one stage it was getting somewhat annoying to select answers in order to post therefore I am glad the whole thing lasted just one day but if the questions had been more global based rather than based around US related issues - it might have been more appealing.

Yeah, obviously! As threatening as it was projected upon first glance, except for the few that already knew before hand, I wished it was left to last a while. Perhaps for a week as stated in OP due to the Knowledgeable aspect of it. The questions stretched as far as it could and wasn't forum based but extends to life and what's obtainable globally.

It made me flashback to my childhood whole growing up. There was this gum wrapped in glossy paper and within it was written current affairs, synonymous to what we experienced on the forum yesterday and it kind of brushed our knowledge of the world globally.  Its all gone now, just like the fun of yesterday's IQ test. Very excersing and fun.

It was very easy to cheat (not least because the answers were all public), but just for fun, here are all of the final IQ scores: https://bitcointalk.org/af2022.txt

It was fun while it lasted... Another nice way for forum members to have fun on April Fools Day and for theymos to do something new. Last year was a very good prank and this year too. What will he planned for next year?

The funny part is when you see your IQ dropping after you cheated your browser randomly pop up a Google search with the answer that sometimes be ambiguous!

April fools! I hope that people had fun. It's always funny how many people are actually fooled.

Credit to Halab and Cyrus for the idea. The triva questions were from the OpenTriviaQA database by uberspot.

How the IQ score worked was that it was impossible to go above 200 or below 0, and it was supposed to be centered around 100, so it got easier to lose points and harder to gain them the higher your IQ got above 100, and vice-versa for below 100. The questions themselves all had the same weight. It was very easy to cheat (not least because the answers were all public), but just for fun, here are all of the final IQ scores: https://bitcointalk.org/af2022.txt

High IQ people like me were disappointed by this twist.

You fooled me with that link Cheesy
I think most likely, the link leads to a thread in the staff sub. The mods have access to the sub, so they are able to see the post without any intervention or doing anything special other than being logged in. I don’t think the link was intended to be an additional prank.

Thanks for the April Fools Joke, theymos! It was fun even for just a day. Too bad I was out of my home during whole day this happened, but good thing I was able to join this conversation even for a short-time.

April fools!
Thanks for the fun and keep up with that enthusiastic spirit!

Some algorithm that could calculate how much crypto knowledge an individual member has.
Nah. It wouldn't last long 'til few smarty-pants sold the answers. After all, we already have a crypto knowledge meter: Merits. Those with the knowledge vote those who are knowledgeable with their sMerits.

Of that I'm agreed, though.  Tongue
i await the great forum exodus patiently

instead of trivia questions, how about forum rules instead next time? Wink

I had fun with this April Fool's joke. Is anyone else disappointed that the event is already over?

Nevertheless, I can't help thinking that something like this could actually be useful for the forum. Of course, I don't mean a trivial knowledge quiz, but something related to crypto. Some algorithm that could calculate how much crypto knowledge an individual member has.

Haha, always beware of Theymos Smiley.

Actually it's a post I made several weeks ago in the Staff section about problematic topics about corona and the war in Ukraine, I say at the end something like "to solve the problem, we should make an IQ test to the members... Oh I just found an idea for April Fool's Day". But I wasn't really serious and I forgot. And a few days ago, Cyrus quoted this sentence and Theymos did the rest Smiley.

punishment for not answering some of the questions,

The funny thing is that the score never changed if we do not answer the trivia. But, Some of us are always afraid of that and they tried to answer the trivia even if they don't know the answer. This way they lose the score. LOL. Take SFR10 For example, I am not sure if he did it for testing purposes.

Funfact: @o_e_l_e_o become user who has the highest and also the lowest IQ
So when can I expect my profile badge certifying me as simultaneously the smartest and the dumbest person on the forum? Tongue

As your main profile has the highest IQ of the whole forum, I guess that obtaining those badges was actually the plan from the beginning, wasn't it?

Nice one o_e_l_e_o for taking both top and bottom spot. You not only are the smartest, but the least. The alpha and the omega. The victor and the vanquished.

Nice one theymos.

Thanks for this little prank!  Wink

It was a lot of fun, and at the same time educational. Because regardless of the way in which the answer was researched, some questions that were not known, we learned something. And that's always good.

And I'm even happier, because I was in the top50, among so many excellent forum users!  Roll Eyes Cool Grin

I would have expected a much more complicated calculation, a punishment for not answering some of the questions, and some random factor that makes it much harder or easier for certain people. Are you going easy on us now?
