Justin Sun, founder of the Tron blockchain, has paid $4.75 million for the privilege of having lunch with legendary investor Warren Buffett.

News outlets around the world picked up this news, trumpeting it as yet another example of how ridiculous the crypto sector can be.

The gesture is attention-grabbing, true, and not just because $4.75 million is a lot to pay for a meal and a couple of hours of someone’s time. It’s also worthy of a jaw drop given Buffett’s public opinion of bitcoin: “probably rat poison squared” is one of his more colourful descriptions.

However, the real event here is being overlooked. Thanks to Sun’s largesse, two extremes of the current investment landscape will sit at the same table and talk to each other. This is more significant than most of us realise.

Who cares what an old man like Warren Buffet thinks about the entire market, he is a hypocrite who owned Berkshire Hathaway invested in ponzi scam defrauding many investors for millions of dollars, he usually preaches one thing but does things behind closed doors, so he cannot be trusted in any way shape or form and Justin Sun is a big fool to spent millions just to dine with him which is another joke.

I don't follow this guy on Twitter but I was able to see the news through an ad on Twitter where he talked about paying $4.5 million for the launch. He has been working really hard these days and he's been on the news a lot of times more than I count, and I can remember that that made the price of TRON to go up by 13% in a day (some people said it's 20% when I checked it was around 13%). This is another news that can draw more attention to the crypto industry, most especially TRON and there is likely to be an increase in the price. This is very good.

Yeah, you got it right. Look at what he did with BNB, it is just amazing to see how the progress of that token. It may be for his own company to prosper but the whole crypto community will benefit from it, whether we like it or not.

Hard to change Warren Buffet mind but I think Justin Sun can introduce more about cryptocurrency or his project in Tron and Bittorent. Warren Buffet always have negative thinking about cryptocurrency and hopely with this lunch Warren Buffet have different perspective about cryptocurrency

I am very happy for Justin and I hope this meeting will benefit him and he will learn a lot that in the future will help bring his blockchain projects to new successes and heights. But I do not think that he will be able to change Warren's opinion about cryptocurrencies.

Steve Jobs actually had a product that met the needs of the public. Justin Sun has a blockchain project struggling to attract the mainstream. I don't think he deserves the "genius" label just yet.

Inviting for a lunch isn't a genius act though, everyone can invite someone like Trump but making it public would mean its just for marketing, Warren may not even attend to this invitation unless he gets something worth out of it. That $4.45 might not even worth enough for Warren for if he goes along that would mean he can be manipulated. I don't think his adviser would tell him to go and have lunch with Sun who in his eyes is just a newbie.

There is definitely a benefit to Justin Sun in terms of the publicity he has generated. On the other hand, some might argue that the $4.5 million spent could have been used to improve his cryptocurrency or invest in a project to boost it.

I tend to be among the skeptics of the idea that anything fruitful will come about from this, or rather that he'll get his money's worth. I don't think Buffett will change his mind over this lunch.

Im thinking what is the topic discussed by these two. As you can see Buffet really hates or not really in favor of cryptocurrency but Justin Sun is the owner and ceo of tron network a huge project that perfectly have a decentralized aspect. Im thinking Justin Sun is trying to offer Buffet an investment that will venture in cryptocurrency or more or less collaborate on a new project or become a partner in tron network. Who knows, but assuming the msinstream media coverage I think this lunch is a favorably on crypto industry.
