The lack of financial education in general is a worrying problem. We teach students about literature, maths, science, ... and we tell them that those are the things they need to know in life. Yet usually, the largest single expense they will have on their lives is a house, and that normally comes with a mortgage. Yet, only a few schools will tell them what should they be expecting, the risks and the consequences of such a contract.
Bitcoin and alts is another case in which people are carefully kept in ignorance by the governments and lobbies.
What can we do to make more people interested in economy and finance and to better educate the youth so that they don´t get ripped-off?
Well, this is the sad truth. And honestly I do not think there really is anything much we can do considering that we are only small people that cannot even solve our own problems in the real world. Obviously, a lot of people will be really interested to do something to be able to help spread awareness all throughout the world to make everyone more knowledgeable about the crypto world because it will obviously benefit not only the one being taught but the whole crypto lovers in this world.
The most effective course of action as of now is to spread awareness using our own little ways like spreading it on various types of social media networks so that a lot can really be able to know more about cryptos. And we must also be ready to give proper knowledge or at least give them great sources for information so that they can also be great at spreading the word about cryptos. That is the only way that I can really think of as of now.
The problem with social media networks is that they are so full of crap and misleading messages that you would be preaching in an empty church. People that mingle aroung are not interested either.
I agree with you. Yes, that really is true. But the thing is that despite this fact, we also cannot deny that the social media network has billions of users around the world. And using this to spread the word about cryptos is the best choice there is for now. Because clearly, I do not think that any t.v. network will let anyone advertise bitcoins on their channels. Heck, I don't even think that anyone would even consider paying just to get bitcoins on television advertisements. But that really isn't a problem since there is social media, and obviously, more people spend more time on social media sites than t.v. sets.
Just think about it this way man, if you, along with all the other people who gets to read this response will share legitimate information about bitcoins in social medias and be willing to answer questions of curious minds for free, it will surely make a difference. Although we cannot get rid of the trolls and crappy minded people that you are talking about, we will still be able to reach other open minded people and get them to spread the word themselves. Although this may seem as something that sounds like a fairy tale, it completely makes sense and can really do a lot to pull in a huge amount of traffic here in the crypto world.
There are a million alibis out there that can be thought of if anyone chooses not to care, but for people who really do care, they won't even need a reason to do so. It usually comes out automatically. let us do something to actually make a change rather than just saying that we want to witness change. We owe it to the crypto world to at least try.
