Technology is really important to us, especially in today's modern world. As long as blockchain technology is widely taught and applied by a number of developed countries such as the US, Japan, England, and China. And then, the chain effect will spread and the world will use Blockchain technology soon. It saves people a lot of time and I appreciate blockchain technology very much.

Even if we only have one single global currency (e.g., Bitcoin), doesn't mean that there will be a one-world government. Different governments could use the same money (like EUR) since wealth and profit is uniform.

Furthermore, people like to form a group based on their social identity and preference. Hence, it's impossible to create a one-world government across various race, religion, culture, etc., without coercion.

I have my doubt if we will ever see a single Crypto currency or "GovCoin" being used by all countries. Every country has it's own sovereignty and their own local currency now, so I predict a future scenario where these countries will develop their own "digital" version of their local reserve currency and where they will compete with other countries for world dominance.

Can you imagine Iran and China and the USA using the same global currency and sharing the responsibility to have control over the mining and the decision making?  Roll Eyes

By making use of Blockchain technology for everything, global control will be enforced as it's much easier to track every single transaction made worldwide. Those transactions will not only involve money, but also transfer of ownership, certificates of birth, driver's license, and other services within the global Blockchain system. This may sound crazy, but if you look at the current situation where many Banks and governments have become interested in the technology, it shows us that it will be implemented in every area worldwide within the not-so-distant future.

You don't need blockchain to do any of that, and if we are talking about centralized entities, blockchain doesn't make any difference at all. Imagine if you stored files on your computer on a private blockchain, what would it give to you? You could use it to notice that some files are missing, but there a lot of other and more efficient ways to do it. Same with governments, the real reason why they show interest is because the got caught in hype just like retail investors do - government officials aren't some brilliant people who are experts in everything, and they can be misled too.

If a New World Order takes effect soon, do you think that all of the world's governments will make use of crypto and Blockchain technology to their fullest potential? Imagine if one world digital currency existed, where every single country makes use of it worldwide. Central Banks will act as nodes and miners of that digital currency, which is backed by the Blockchain. The single, unified Blockchain will prove to become highly scalable for the world, especially since it'll be extremely centralized.

Nonetheless, what are your thoughts? Huh

Highly impossible to happen! One world currency is never going to happen because it will make stronger countries like US, China, Russia or Germany to lose their dominance over financial prowess and global level. Do you think these countries will let go their dominance for the welfare of the world? Your statement of blockchain based currency will become a reality at country level while every country will slowly move to the digital economy and adopt centralized blockchain for their own currency. For example, India has already published a draft bill which recommends banning of bitcoin and other cryptos and at the same time, opens up the possibility to create a centralized crypto called "Digital rupee" which will be a replacement of physical money in India in phased manner! So country specific crypto is very much possible, but not at global level.

What exactly do you mean by "New World Order?" A one-world government?

By mentioning "New World Order", I'm referring to a one-world government. It may seem impossible to achieve nowadays, but the mere fact that Blockchain technology unites everything, there might be a possibility that worldwide governments may reach a common agreement. We'll just have to wait and see what will happen with the development of this revolutionary technology within the future.

Why bother with mining in such a centralized system? There's no need. The consensus is determined by trusted authorities. And sure, this sounds like a dream come true for governments until you realize all governments are competing against one another. They won't agree to give up their sovereign currencies.

Of course there's no need for mining in a centralized system. But if you look at the way how central banks print their own money nowadays, you could see the same thing in the digital realm. By acting as miners, they could issue newly minted coins to the public in the same way they are printing physical cash right now. Governments may be competing against each other now, but they could reach an unanimous decision to make the world a better place by implementing a system which keeps track of the world's transactions in order to gain greater control over the people in an easier way than usual.

I do think governments are pursuing this on a national level. It's perfect for surveillance. I just don't buy into the whole one-world conspiracy theory.

Exactly. Blockchain technology's transparency proves to be extremely beneficial for mass surveillance. With physical cash, it's nearly impossible to keep track of where and how it's been spent with precision. By implementing a digital currency, it becomes easier to keep track of every transaction made on the ledger in order to reduce criminal activity as much as possible. Only time will tell us whenever people will adapt to this new system, or not. Smiley

Having only one digital currency sounds ideal but it could be difficult to implement since I believe that there is no such thing as a one stop - all purpose crypto capable of satisfying the individual needs of others and we need to encourage more blockchain innovation along the way.

Also, I think there has to be a compromise between the preferences of the people (e.g. - privacy) and the resolve of Governments (e.g. - regulations) in order for blockchain technology to flourish and gain massive adoption worldwide since these two entities have mutual interest with it.

I don't see why the blockchain is being overhyped to this extent, especially with how databases offer more efficiency and scalability, and for governments very important, more control and less transparency.

I personally never liked the idea of one world currency that's supported by governments around the world. I like the fact that I can own a basket of different fiat currencies depending on how each country performs economically.

Technically speaking, Bitcoin is already that, but then without governments controlling it. The people are in control, that's what makes it so powerful. It's an escape from a system that doesn't intend to change.

I think the world would sooner return to gold-backed money than a one-world currency.
