People are voting for Monero just because it is a coin in the top of coinmarketcap. Pretty sure they don't have an idea how monero works Cheesy

Horizen is a very good platform a lot better compared to what the poll listed. The coin is undervalued right now but for sure it will a lot more used than other privacycoins. From the last update about Horizen:

- DAG protocol is nearing completion
- DAO treasury and voting system
- Side-Mainchain model is in progress

Zen (ex Zencash)
ZenChat
ZenPub
ZenHide

Are all build on Horizen

Looking ahead try deeponion, the roadmap and current price makes it a very attractive investment. An immutable online database and soon smart contracts are just 2 great features that differentiate it from other normal privacy coins

I'm curious if any Deeponion fans can explain how Deeponion protects the privacy of the sender in a transaction? I don't think deepnion does that at all and neither do Verge or DASH? What other schemes to protect sender privacy do we have besides Ring Signatures or Zerocoin / Zerocash ZKP?

Please enlighten me, someone....

DeepOnion is different in that it focused on marketing, community building, and exchange listings first, to ensure a good development fund for the future. Sender privacy will be released later using multi-signatures to hide the transactions. Although Onion is trading at a higher price than XSPEC it will go even higher when fully featured with sender privacy included. Onion is listed on over 15 exchanges including Kucoin, RightBTC, and Cryptopia.

Horizen project is, for sure, a lot more advanced and more interesting than the majority of coins listed on the poll, if not all including Monero.
It's the first cryptocurrency with full end-to-end encryption at the node and internode level and the most distributed node systems

hey guys,

Some coins meanwhile hide transaction information - how much you send and who you are sending to your IP address on the network.
There are a lot of "privacy coins" out there, what do you think, which will prevail and be at the top?
Lets start an vote and discuss here Smiley

Privacy or anonymous leaves me in dilemma, what should I go for. I think Monero is the best choice when it comes to privacy coin, but I would rather go for PIVX or SpectreCoin, why mined it when you can stake it.

I vote for Horizen of course <3
I would like to add that it isn't just an altcoin, but a platform with different tools focusing on users privacy. For example, ZenChat is their messaging application and prevent metadata leakage and encrypted with algorithms

IMHO two coins from list can win the race. This can be zcash because they have a lot of money for new development. Or it can be KMD because they working hard and their blockchain is very fast as I know.

To be honest, I'd stay away from those coins. IMO the real privacy coin that is the only one worth holding is monero hands down. It has been shown to be the most private coin out of any of the other coins out there, and it has been around much longer than most of the other privacy coins out there. Small supply as well, and there are a lot of features with the wallet that other coins don't have. Not to mention you can mine directly in the wallet which is pretty cool. Buy monero!

For me, monero is too strange. The main question for me: on what money works their team. You can work for free or for premined coins for a year or two, but after what will you do? You will be tired from that and go to another project. Buterin some time ago said that z snark can be implemented to eth, how will this affect to all privacy coins? For other coins to be really private they must have the huge quantity of operations or this will be fake privacy.
So if I understand how works monero development I will agree with you.

Donations. People who care about the project donate their time and/or money. The reason a corporate model  doesn't fit for a privacy coin is because the team can be corrupted or targeted. The question shouldn't be "why doesn't Monero use a central team funded by an ICO or company?" It should be, "Why does any privacy coin risk their project by centralizing development?"

While Monero is clearly a leader right now among privacy coins with it recognition, reputation and technology

If you're looking at the best possible gains - I'd say that XMR is rather "safe" investment, than a "money maker". Its like S&P500 stock.
You could do couple of X's at best, but like not much more than that.
Because everybody knows how awesome it already is. So all its features are already priced in

Meanwhile XSPEC (or Spectrecoin) is a type "of your secret gem" (return wise, great USP technology/very low market cap) investment

XSPEC is currently priced only at 6 million market cap,
with a determined on Stealth Staking technology (call it Proof-of-Stealth if you like it) professional team

I ve got a couple of arguments to consider in my opinion of why XSPEC will be massive:

First - it has USP (unique selling product) which is Stealth Staking (while Monero is on PoW)
Second - the price already hit 6 dollars at once, but with a change of the dev team and project management, that has created uncertaintly among users and overall bear market, it ultimately felt to where it started.

Now it starts to gain momentum back again:
- Last one or two months many Articles start to come out (Crypto community that specializes on research starts to notice)
- WhitePaper
- New Website
- Constant new version clients and work on automatic builds
- Stable funding mechanism
- GitHub activity

All those things point out that we have a potential "winner" here at current entry points

There are a decent number of those nowadays.
I like PRiVCY coin. Looks very good right now.
It's a new coin, but it's picking its speed.

Isn’t PRiVCY just a fork of deeponion? What sets it apart?

It seems to me that these are only assumptions, since the current state of the crypto-currency market will negatively affect the development of all projects.

anonymous coins or privacy are one of my favorites and Monero is an important asset in my portfolio. indeed, there are a lot of opposition and ugliness that are often mistaken for this coin, but like it or not we will need privacy coins.

Monero and SpectreCoin seem to be the favourites but I voted for one that is not on the list. The one I think should be included in any discussion of the future of Privacy Coins is DarkPayCoin. It is in its early development stages but it is one you will be hearing a lot more about in the near future. If you are intertested in finding out more about this MN/PoS coin you should check out the announcement thread. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/d4rk-darkpaymarket-pos-dao-cold-staking-dapps-4971135

What kind of confidentiality can you say in all these coins, the leaders of the vote? Monero shows your ip and it's easy to track. Spectrecoin, too, is not yet anonymous, but it will bring revolutionary technologies, the question is only a couple of months. So my choice is Spectrecoin

I like all privacy coins, but Monero is the best for me. I think it is worth to hold such coin for long term. It is valuable, popular and it has really great team and community. So, my choice is XMR.
I would also advise paying attention to the coin stellar, which lately. And despite the poor market conditions, it shows quite good results.
Stellar is not a privacy crypto. However, you're right. XLM's performance in the current market has been nothing short of amazing. Alongside BTC, XLM is making a good hedge

At the moment monero is definitely the coin of choice. But for the future I think Spectrecoin will win the race.

My reasons:
-Spectrecoin uses POS which is energy friendly and you can make money buy simply holding coins
-With stealth staking and Ring CT it will be on par with monero in terms of anonymity
-Plus Tor it also hides your IP

The team is very dedicated and full of fantastic ideas.
If spectrecoin will decide in the future to use
+sharding
+ an own overlay network for hiding ip and handle large traffic
it will be also scalable.
Then it would be king.  Cool
