Openbazaar is seperate from payment mechanism.. Monero simoly wants to replace bitcoin with monero... The restrictive model has shown to not work. I dont expect this to help monero much in terms of adoption.

Nxt free market and syscoin are really thr only ones worth considering because they are onchain implementations and not offchain.

Very interested in what becomes of this and other marketplaces. Fuck ebay and fuck paypal!  Grin

I was investigating the market yesterday and I don't see it referred to as a decentralized silk road anywhere official. As far as I can tell it's just a decentralized marketplace and so like Tor could be used for many different purposes.

I'm a law abiding individual, so I don't really care about an illegal goods marketplace. But I am highly interested in a decentralized Ebay alternative for legal stuff. I hate Ebay so much. So fucking much.

Well, if you don't look for complete anonymity, then the race is really on, there are others in this race, like

Bitbay
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bitbay-official-bitbay-thread-smart-contracts-decentralized-markets-rolling-peg-890531

And http://nxtfreemarket.com/

So, maybe Ebay will react some day by accepting Bitcoins/altcoins and/or lowering fees? But this might take some time...

Hello everybody,

It’s good to see you all so actively supporting Shadow and staying positive as we work towards the release of our decentralized market. As some of you may have noticed, we’ve been a bit quiet on these forums lately when it comes to actively reaching out to all of you with development updates. This doesn’t mean we’ve been sitting still though, because we have a fun week ahead of us. We'll come back to that later.

First of all we are very happy to announce that both Tecnovert and I will be working full-time on Shadow from now on! We're setting our main jobs aside for the upcoming months so that we can really focus on the job at hand. This will obviously result in quicker progress when it comes to releasing new features. Going forward we are also going to post a lot more in terms of development reports. Our team has been working with Shadow community members who are setting up a new website with a development blog to keep you all up to date. So expect regular updates from now on - this one being the first.

The weeks ahead of us are all about ShadowMarket so we are pleased to announce that we have started integrating it into Shadowcore’s back end. We're currently switching from scrypt to SHA-256 so that staking requires less cpu cycles, updating to PoS v2 to improve network stability and working on BIP32 and BIP44 support so that we can support hierarchical / tree categories for the market. Once we are finished with these enhancements, things should start moving significantly faster. We will be making radical changes to the Secure Messaging (ShadowChat), to support Pub/Sub messages, so that people could subscribe to certain categories for the market, where we will then move towards our first round of public alpha/beta testing. We’ve noticed there are lots of questions about how ShadowMarket will work so we have begun gathering them and will answer them in an overview later this week. So much about the upcoming Shadowmarket for now.

We are all still waiting for Isidor Zeuner’s review of our ShadowSend anonymity system in comparison to other anonymous cryptocurrencies. It is still ongoing and we are currently writing more documentation, which is currently our weakest point. We’ve been in contact with Isidor and are trying to give him a helping hand where needed. Please note that it’s quite a task seeing as he will not only study our system but also compare it to the alternatives out there.

As said earlier, we have a fun week ahead of us. We will try to give more specific details on that later this week.

Thank you all for your support!
IM SO HAPPY I COULD CRY!!!

Well I guess it represents will the spirit of SDC Cheesy.

Nah seriously, things are getting more precise about the marketplace and the coreteam, soon we'll see the end of this and SDC will start becoming recognized as it should be

Can I ask a genuine question?

When the SDC marketplace is delivered, will it be running through standard wallets or through nodes of another kind?

Standard wallet, decentralisation is key and everybody is part of it.
Currency, communication and commerce in one platform and your privacy at the heart of it.... Let the revolution begin!

What is the escrow model of SDC marketplace?

Anyone know?
Dont think there is one...

Also many If not all teams focus on a system wherpeby users must conform to the systems standard to use it rather than conform to the general public and systems already put in place.. The thinking is opposite of ehat it should be.. Dont make people change to use these features rather bring them to people using what they already have... If you are lost not to worry i will implement a proof of concept for syscoin to demonstrate what i mean...

are you a sys coin dev? Can i have my Ico bundle now? Still waiting on my hat and other swag.

"Syscoin Presale

Thank you!

We are just confirming that your investment in the Syscoin Presale for 1 BTC has been received.

You will receive your Syscoin before 12PM PST, August 16th 2014.

Apologies if you have received this email before, but a number of people had complained of non-receipt, and sending to all investors is the safest option."

Life, Love and Laughter...
Lol at the pictures of spices being sold on the website.

Very subtle... /s Tongue

not a website mate that is the wallet the marketplace is built in  Wink shadow is the ultimate private trading platform.

Can we use Bitcoin in the market place?
well yes because you can trade BTC-SDC and then use the SDC to buy things, but possibly i'm not sure yet BTC could also be used as  a currency on the Shadow Marketplace

Ah.  The market should have really good items for sale to make people convert to SDC.

Im not sure if a p2p market is really usable as a marketplace feature maybe as a chat feature only... Shadow tried to reuse chat feature to extend to marketplace.. Openbazaar is p2p aswell.. Annonymity? When selling physical goods i dont think its really needed.. 99% of the world doesnt do dark markets so its not a logical target.

I know nxt free market does it on the blockchain and so does syscoin the later being more fully featured in terms of offer support on the chain.. Many cool things can be done once its on the chain that i dont think can be done gracefully in p2p..

I can see the usecase of annonymous chats but not markets.. So to that i prefer projects focus on usability of markets rather than gear it towards dark markets.

Boycott Qatar 2022

You can find illegal stuff on Google its up to you how you use Google.  And the same with Shadow market, if you dont want to buy illegal guns then dont search for them, simple.

It really does not worry me because SDC is going a completely different direction and it's better so i can wait being first don\t mean much dark was first anonymous coin..real impressive they are.

I agree with you first mover is not always the best mover but in this case it might well be as the guy behind it is good at what he does but anyway like you say they are going different directions and one is going to be legal the other illegal, so if you feel something illegal is better then hats of to you bro i hope it does well for you and whoever is going to be buying from there. Good luck.

On a worldwide scale,  which is what these markets will be used on;  I ask you to define "illegal".

Do we take a consensus of all things illegal and not illegal in all respective countries; to set what should be illegal for the entire world?

Well illegal for me may not be illegal for you so things like weed not so bad, but then hardcore drugs are illegal around most of the world the same as selling cloned cards, fake id,s, guns, and pretty much most of the stuff your users are going to be selling on a 'silk road' decentralized marketplace.

I don't really care to be honest as i like the idea of freedom to an extent, of course there are lines they should not be crossed.

Are you able to filter what is going to be sold on the markets? Decentralized i am assuming no please correct me if i am wrong but that could/will lead to trouble.
