I noticed it too and reported several their threads. I don't know they're bots or no and I don't know does it really matters. But probably not much can be done other than reporting these posts. Offcourse, one solution would be disabling posting links for Newbies. But it would be quite radical and strict solution which may hurt legitimate newbies

These things can also be reduce by restricting newbie rank user from posting links. Don't know is it possible or not to implement this system at current bitcointalk SMF forum. A system like, only Jr. Members and above can post link or buy copper membership. Reporting those spam post and banning those spammers is the perfect solution for now.

If this is possible, it will also reduce newbie bounty hunter with multiple accounts. They won't be able to post the bounty reports(various platform link) without achieving any merits. As a result they will try to make good constructive post for getting merits. I know all newbies aren't spammer. But most of the time newbie user post inappropriate links.

I think it's better to just report it and let the moderators do their thing in deleting post like that. I understand that it is an easy way of stopping it if they would not let newbie accounts post links but It will still happen once they got a few merits so moderators will still do their job in it. They would try creating a few good posts and then shitpost from there, they are just delayed, and I'm sure some of those shitposters have accounts with sMerits here. Moderators are doing a good job handling it so I think we should stick to that.

There are lies, damned lies and statistics. MTwain
There have been posts of the kind on the Spanish local board for a couple of weeks now, al from Newbie accounts, with posts ranging from providing a list of sport links with nothing else, to cloning existing posts, and inserting the links somewhere in between the text. They get reported and deleted pretty fast, and have calmed down now over the last few days (probably moving on to greener pastures).

Ah, I had no clue as to what OP was talking about,
OP is talking about posts like this and this.

Honestly, I haven't seen too many members doing this else I would be reporting them.  Probably I'm just not looking at the threads where they're happening, but I'll keep an eye out henceforth.
Just take a look at post history of following accounts.
These are only a few of them. I think hundreds of accounts have been created so far.

Well they have not left my topic about COVID-19.
Ah, I had no clue as to what OP was talking about, but I saw one big referral link banner in someone's post in your thread.

These posts are removed really fast.
That's what I'd expect if a mod is on the ball, because there's really no judgement to be made in cases like these--posting referral links and/or signature advertising outside of the signature space isn't allowed, so any post containing that annoying shit should be nuked as soon as a moderator sees the report.

I reported many of those posts immediately after they were created. But got an error saying the post doesn't exist.
Many of these posts can be found using the tool created by LoyceV. If you click on any of links, you will see that they no longer exist.
That's because many of these posts are removed by Mitchell's bot, MindlessElectron once they are created.

And even if such posts aren't deleted by MindlessElectron, from my experience, they are usually deleted manually in less than 15 minutes.

I say spammers, and not bots because a new account posts this stuff in the same threads some other user from their group previously posted it in before getting banned.
It is a bot attack as they are posting it simultaneously with different accounts and until all the registered IP are black listed it will continue with the same flow.

These posts are removed really fast.
Not all the time Wink.

Respect to all the mods and the users who report these trash Kiss

Well they have not left my topic about COVID-19. Other day I saw a post and since it was self moderated, I thought to delete it after logging in but once logged in, the post was removed which means some users are actively reporting those post.

Has anyone else noticed a wave of spammers posting sports links all over the forum? It's been going on like this for the past week. I say spammers, and not bots because a new account posts this stuff in the same threads some other user from their group previously posted it in before getting banned.

I know these's nothing else we can do about them besides reporting their posts as we see them.

You should continue to report them and they will be handled by the moderators. However as an example you should include few such links (if they are currently active) so that everyone knows what's going on.
Once you report the links here, many more people would be able to report them too.  Smiley
