I see many users talking about how USA government and Trump declared a war against Bitcoin! No, they didn't. Listen their message again! They declared a war against the criminals who are using bitcoin for illegal activities. A huge difference!

It doesn't mean anything

They can use a whole arsenal of indirect methods to hurt Bitcoin if they really wanted to (and they do). Obviously, fighting Bitcoin directly may be counterproductive (it's like banning the law of gravity), but I wouldn't be overly optimistic about their real intentions. In short, if they can kill Bitcoin, they will do it without thinking twice, ever, as it is a competitor to the dollar hegemony (what your post is about). In this manner, a war against criminals using bitcoin for illegal activities is in fact a war against Bitcoin itself

This is true. But if the Trump Administration can add 25% tariff on China and other idiocy, there is nothing to say they could not ban all exchanges in the USA or other methods an attempt to kill bitcoin

Let's just hope that Trump gets kicked out from the White House in 2020

Regarding using the IRS to reshuffle old tax payments, isn't there a 3-year limit within which they can do that? Or it depends on the kind of income and the reason for rechecking, like money laundering or whatever? I don't know as I don't live in the US but I remember reading something like this. For example, in Russia any income not taxed within 3 years basically becomes tax-exempt due to the tax limitation period

Yeah I agree with for that, no war against bitcoi, but they can't avoid some people make fuds news against bitcoin, all we need to is do not listen to them because they know the importance of bitcoin.
If Trump agains bitcoin he have power to banned bitcoin in U.S but he not command to banned bitcoin in the U.S.

This is true. But if the Trump Administration can add 25% tariff on China and other idiocy, there is nothing to say they could not ban all exchanges in the USA or

other methods an attempt to kill bitcoin.

Or they could simply tell the IRS that we are even a 'more complete' interest and review out tax forms with the IRS as was done in the Red Scare of the 1950s

Roosevelt Administration banned GOLD for crying out loud. Even unenforceable just banning Bitcoin would probably kill it in the USA at least. Hard to mine BTC if

the banks won't take your $$$ for such, etc.

Thus they may not kill bitcoin, but any ham-handed approaches like the above would drive the price down to the 2k or below IMHO

they may not destroy bitcoin, but they could really, really mess up the store of value idea of Bitcoin.

So destroy no, get it back to  niche version of crypto from 2014 or so, price-wise and user wise by regulating users/exchanges and/or usual FUD...yep..they could

dump the price to $2k again easy by drying up any new interest in bitcoin.

So losing BTC is not the issue, losing some gains in price on a massive scale while Congress gets around Facebook Libra (and likely kills it) that would be the issue.

If I was Facebook and the above fud happens for all crypto, I'd just buy BitPay for like 20 billion dollars of facebook couch change and or if that is too obvious

simply use the BitPay service to get around the loss of Libra. Sure not as good as the control they are used to on stuff and not having their own crypto

but hell, they could still 'data mine' user info in that manner on crypto. So there would be some pushback on fud/gov't etc trying to do away with crypto

of an open-source nature and not state-sponsored...but in the short term, it would be $2k to $4K BTC again at best with more roadblocks to adoption. At

least in the short-term.

If they wanted to kill the price of BTC in the USA I'd have the IRS do a complete audit of all crypto tax returns they have done such with taxpayer before

and I don't think the numbers would bother them any.

Hope I'm wrong but there are lots and lots the Trump Administration can do to stifle the growth of Bitcoin or at least dump the price in half over the next year or so.

There is always gonna be a counter-reaction to Bitcoin the more it succeeds in adoption, so we will see. To say the next Bitcoin halving is gonna be interesting

in less than a year with all this drama/fud is an extreme understatement! As an aside, with this kinda FUD, I kinda think Libra is toast, at least as run by Facebook

for data mining.

Anyway, hopefully, I'm dead wrong and it will all be unicorns/fairy dust/rainbows/and lollipops! Not counting on it though.

Crypto: Always Drama!

The "war" against Bitcoin comes from the people who don't have the wit or the application to understand it. It isn't the government or the banks.

How can you declare war with something. Yeah something. Not someone or what country.
It is a something that is being used in the computer and the internet.
No one owns bitcoin. There is no company behind it or any association.
So who are they declaring war with?
That is some crazy shit.

That's why news or information should be published or provided in an authentic way, otherwise, people only take some negative side. Basically, the USA govt doesn't take any step against Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency, Trump administration is not against this blockchain system anymore.
So we also need to provide this legit aspect, We know that Bitcoin is growing up day by day at a high rate, not only that but also Bitcoin is getting its space and it's getting bigger day after day. So be positive and keep positive about Bitcoin.

When haven't america not declared war on something? The war on drugs in my personal favourite. They want peace but thing an everlasting war will bring peace or at some point drugs will magically disappear?
Making more laws about something only makes it more valuable since it is harder to obtain and/or keep.

Well when it comes to the Indian government , there is actually war against bitcoins.
The government is okay with bills with 10 year jail term drafted for people holding bitcoins , whereas can show number of cases with people just sentenced jail term for 7 year for Rape.
There are bills being drafted and maybe will soon be implemented.
People are leaving the government authority related to cryptocurrencies.
It is all a silent war.

Those are empty threats. Only a piece of shit would put another human being into a cage. Especially for a none violent "offense" that hurt no one. People will revolt.

I see many users talking about how USA government and Trump declared a war against Bitcoin! No, they didn't. Listen their message again! They declared a war against the criminals who are using bitcoin for illegal activities. A huge difference! This will be a good thing in the longterm. So stop spreading this fud cuz of wrong interpretation. Many big players already know that dollar is dying. They know that dollar can't survive for a long time. As the dollar collapses in the near or middterm future, bitcoin will rise and rise enormously. They know that. They also know that the trigger for all of this could be the next major financial crisis where a lot of funds will go to gold and bitcoin. But because bitcoin is a low marketcap compared to gold, it will rise much more than gold. They know that and they will try to regulate it but they cannot stop it. They (USA Congress) already admited that bitcoin is unstoppable. No one can stop it. If you can't win them, join them. So eventually everyone will join bitcoin in the future.
I think the problem is that there are actually different messages coming from different people from the government. I've seen a congressman who's really supportive of Bitcoin, for instance, maybe even a couple of them. But if we talk about Trump, I think his tweets on cryptocurrencies were rather clear:
Quote
I am not a fan of Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrencies, which are not money, and whose value is highly volatile and based on thin air.
Quote
We have only one real currency in the USA, and it is stronger than ever, both dependable and reliable. It is by far the most dominant currency anywhere in the World, and it will always stay that way. It is called the United States Dollar!
But the thing is, as a populist, he's probably just saying whatever most of his electorate wants to hear. Plus, he's just the President, he does not have much power over such matters as crypto regulations.

Having a personal opinion about the concept of Bitcoin doesn't necessarily implies that war was declared on it. Even the States law markers are active traders/investors in blockchain projects. People generally use such posts to ensure that weak hands dump cheaper all in the name of fear been circulated.

What do you expect from the USA President to say? That the dollar is weak and that Bitcoin is the King? This is what he is supposed to say there is no reason to either think that he will promote Bitcoin or dump the dollar.
The rest about Bitcoin used only for criminal activities are to be disregarded as propaganda.

Every government is coming to realization on what Bitcoin can become. Back in 2017 we had politicians talking about how a possible Bitcoin dive in price could actually start a new recession.

There are people that are afraid of the future power and growth of Bitcoin and they will try to "tame" it and make it as centralized as they can to achieve their goals.

The problem for them, is that if they succeed in centralizing it, they will instantly fail to use it as it will become obsolete. So all their effort would be just to destroy Bitcoin. And after that, another technology will appear that would be even better and harder to regulate and take over. Remember the file-sharing websites in 2000 and the war against them? They shut-down most of them only for p2p technology and torrent sites to appear.

What's been mentioned in the Op has some good information. The statement from Trump was just a common news, but that was taken much into discussion as it has got some statements related to the bitcoin usage. It was clearly a plan to eliminate the use of bitcoin for illegal needs which in comparison to the fiat usage on the same is very minimal. Same has got interpreted as a way to manipulate the market trend. Hope cryptocurrency users understand the right thing.

But to be honest, this kind of attention to Bitcoin are making it more popular to others. Just ignore them. The moment they let Bitcoin become so popular this past few years, Bitcoin already won the war against those who are against it.

Also there are speculations that China and Russia would be the next leader when it comes to financial which is why they are kind of staying away from dollars. Bitcoin would reign supreme in the future.

There is some truth to this post, but you will also need to believe some things other people say.

If the government and authorities really did want to stop money laundering and a lot of other illegal activities, they'd put more time into finding unmarked bills, because at this point the most popular payment option for money laundering and dark world services is still not BTC.

I also do not think that the government has a lot of BTC stashed and they are looking to centralize the currency. This is very apparent when they sold off most of the BTC they got from the silk road, which they all auctioned off. Just think about it logically - why would they do that if their goal was to centralize the supply?

Not a war, no, but a crackdown on regulatory noncompliance and tax evasion seems to be brewing.

Dood, its reverse social engineering they are lining their pockets, they created it. Trust me USA government holds more coins than Bulgaria.

They had hundreds of thousands of bitcoins after the Silk Road bust, yet they auctioned them all off in 2014 and 2015. Why didn't they hold onto them?

There's a big difference by reading only the title than to the whole article, people just don't know how to read maybe or really have no time to understand the article but have more time to create FUD in cryptomarket. We should keep telling people not to panic, and educate them as much as possible for us to see a better market.

That is what is happening in the present era, people trust the title more and ignore the contents of the article itself. It's ironic. For me any news also doesn't affect me not to use bitcoin, FUD or whatever is just news bullshit.

i think the fud on btc is getting more worse in recent times than back in the early stage, nowadays people just fud over every little thing, too many misconception about btc out there, any newbie who invest on something he/she don't understand properly and loss money will create unnecessary fud, government trying by any means to create fud, make people loss interest on btc, in the midst of all this war and fud, btc still manage to survive.

actually the "war" against bitcoin has been going on for nearly as long as it existed it just grows in size and cost the bigger bitcoin gets. of course the market participants who want cheaper prices have always used it as an excuse to exaggerate and turn it into FUD and make a bigger profit but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
as for the US government and their war, the recent chatter seems more like a war against Facebook and their Libra rather than bitcoin. they don't want to let this company become a bank this easily and out of their control.

Learn some of the previous fud that has been created and all have the purpose of making careless people sell it at cheap prices, they will buy it at cheap prices in large quantities so that it gives the impact of a significant increase in an instant
