I can't even imagine the amount of PMs theymos must get from users about having their accounts hacked or asking why they've been banned / to unban them etc.

Theymos,

I sent you a PM last night, but just in case...

My original account - Bitcoin_Mafia - appears to have been hacked, or at the very least locked. I can't log in with
what I know are the correct username and password. Also, when I go to reset the password, the email that contains
the reset password link never arrives. I check my junk mail and my spam folder, and nothing. I know I can receive
system messages from the forum b/c I still have notification emails from when other users have replied to PMs in the
past under my Bitcoin_Mafia account.

Please help!

The BTC address associated with this account is the same one associated with my hacked account.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,

Cynthia

have you got a respond from Theymos?
Because I have the same problem just like u. and until I write this post no respond yet. some people talk that BTT to slow to respond some problem, I think they right. probably they should give us a progress for our problem, will they investigate or something or what.
For me... waiting is suck.

Unfortunately, no response. I don't know if Theymos is sick, working, out of town, on vacation, on the moon, inundated
with hacked account issues, or just doesn't want to reply. In any case, I finally had no choice but to create a new acct.

But it isnt' from another address. It is from the same address associated w/ the original account.

I think this could be a viable solution. Maybe a very small donation to your forum donation address?
Curious if theymos will agree to this.

EDIT: grue, you're right. Silly me, I must be tired.

You usually can't send from a specific address, especially if the address belongs to an exchange. The only way to do that is by using coin control (in bitcoin core), or with the raw transaction API.

Then you're probably screwed. Did you not send any payments using another address associated with the account?

No, that's the only BTC address I have associated with that account. I've still got system messages that were
sent to the email address associated w/ that account as well. Those, coupled with the fact that I have the same
BTC address associated with this account as with the hacked one, should - I hope - be enough to prove that
Bitcoin_Mafia is, indeed, my account.

Keeping fingers crossed!

Cynthia
that's wishful thinking. you either have a GPG/bitcoin signature or you don't. theymos already stated if you don't have either, he's not going to bother with alternative methods because it will take too much time. just don't get your hopes up.

There's another option that would take a few minutes @ most. I already offered to make send a token
BTC payment from that address to one specified by him to prove the address is mine, but haven't heard
anything yet.

We'll see, I suppose...

Unless you can provide a GPG/bitcoin signature I seriously doubt Theymos is going to restore the account. Sending a trivial payment from another address isn't going to cut it I wouldn't think.

I can vouch for Bitcoin_Mafia.

That's her real account and someone got into it.

Did you sign a message to prove this and follow all the instructions here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/recovering-hacked-accounts-or-accounts-with-lost-passwords-497545 ?

I don't know if I can. The address is a generated one from Cryptsy.
