I do like ChipMixer's giving private keys. What do you guys think about that vs sending bitcoin to a specific address?
You don't need a mixer. You can simply send all bitcoins to an exchange, and then from there send to your new wallets, no one will be able to trace you then.
This is just wrong sending to an exchange and withdrawing to a new wallet offers no anonymity. The exchange can link your deposits to your withdrawals.
It does the job if you just want to break the link between your past coins for the viewing public. Obviously if you're an international drug kingpin it's not quite the level you're looking for.

A simple one without special characters can be made in minutes. If you want an advanced, more flashy one, you can always pay someone to make it, but a normal one will work just fine.
Next you set up an escrow if you want the campaign to attract more people and you're all done. Provided the rates are decent you'll have people advertising your service in no time.

You'll need a few million dollars, do you have a few million dollars? I have a hard time believing that you have. until then it's better if you think about something else, besides there are already a few good mixers in play so I don't see any holes here.

I know there's a variety of mixers out there, but I'm considering making my own. Part technical challenge for myself, part filling the hole left by bitmixer. It will be a centralized mixing service (not using coinjoin or anything). You send coins to some address and receive coins from another address. Nothing mind-bending, I know. But I'd love to get people's opinions on mixers they like, don't like, etc.

My suggestion is, be sure to stay anonymous and be prepared to receive some threats to close your service. You surely remember Bitmixer? If you think they closed because "I make a great cash but I want to be a great guy so I close Bitmixer" then you're wrong

What other reason that bitmixer shut down that is more then what he told us himself and if there is something or some more information you are privilege to have, you can inform us other than that, no other reason. I don't see any wrong in owing a mixer and for the gap bitmixer left that op is intending to fill, its better you are early because those are already being filled already.
There are well known other mixing services on the market, and I hope that ChipMixer will last really long

Don't waste your time. The bitcoin chainanalysis companies have software that can see past mixers now, and have for some time. If you rely on a mixing service to anonymize your bitcoin when it comes time to cash out you may get a surprise. If you have bitcoin you need to anonymize you have to swap to an anonymous coin like Monero and back. The authorities hate Monero because they can not pierce the veil of that blockchain.

Their last report about the coins that were used to pay for ransomware was hilarious.
They tracked coins worth 1$ coming from exchanges.
Really? So somebody had 299$ worth of bitcoin and decided to buy 1$ from bitstamp.

They have the volume, they offer the anonymity and it's nearly impossible to track if you take your time.
Do it twice and I dare any tracking company to find out where the coins have gone.

these services serve the few(for anonymity) but end up causing congestion and mempool bloat for the many.

I believe you know that mixers are usually used for illegal activities. Don't tell me that people use it for extra privacy, if you do legal and kind job, there is no need for very high privacy, simple bitcoin transaction is more than enought. So maybe you know that bitmixer was biggest player here and since they decided to close their very profitable service, you have to understand that now it's not a good time to create mixer. If you want, then create on you own risks.

There are already companies that have an established position and enough money to pay for advertising. How are you going to compete with that OP?
Do you have enough to start a business? It will mean building a decent site, hiring someone to answer support questions, paying for ads, and of course writing a code that will do the mixing.

If you have knowledge well including how it will be done technically, knows how to deal with the technical problems, have a great team that knows very well how mixing works, have a guts to start a service like that, knows all the pros and cons while dealing at that kind of offered services, knows all the associated risk, have a decent budget and above all of this, overall knows everything as in everything then no one can stop here you for making one even there are concerns by the others.

For obvious reasons the chainanalysis companies want to keep their capabilities secret, under the radar. A redditor in the crypto space went to a symposium earlier this year on AML/KYC for off ramps and he posted what was revealed and it caused a minor fuss. It was eye opening just how advanced chainanalysis has become. He since took the post down wish I had taken some screenshots. I do not think the companies who sell their analysis want their full capabilites known to the public. He did make the point clear that mixers are now worthless.

You basically know how the mixing services works and you have identify your position as well. Even though others are saying its wrong or a waste of time but I feel there is nothing wrong about it at this time. All you need is be sure the position of the law in your locality in other to protect yourself. I have not seen one mixer that have been convicted before.
