Ok well you are wrong for calling me wrong: you and several other 'trusted' members here on the forum are acting as an 'ebay' escrow for Laviathon

Wink

I also started this thread 3+ months ago before nexious did what he did.     I think the escrow thing is legit.  Especially with the amount if money involved for the hashing power I would need people to commit.

kano you developed cgminer?

I agree with the forum.  Any newcomer that opens up a pool and asks for those to join is not very smart right now.

Its like buying something off of ebay from a seller with 0 feedback, common sense.

You've got to spend the time with the community and focus on reaching out to others and contributing before making a major move like opening up a pool.

Laviathon not trying to be against you but rather help you with my opinion and view on this topic.

The 25btc escrow, you guys are some rich mofo's haha,

Wrong  ebay will act as your escrow if you buy from the guy with 0 feedbacks.

A newbie here as well, I too have thought of starting a pool, but really i just want to be involved with a group/community/business involving mining.
Running your own p2pool node is the answer to this then if that's your primary goal.

I do understand.   I know I will never be an original per say.  How ever I do enjoy doing things like this.  I hope it to be a fun Hobby and earn your guys respect along the way.

I hope you can also see that if you check the web domain info I did not pay to make it private.

Ohh and thanks for not hitting me with a complete burn.   I know these are suspect times for new pools.  I assure you guys I will not prove out to be a Nexious.    Just try not to hold it against me to much that I was late to the Party.  ( Bitcoin in General )

I'm going to try and be a real with you guys as possible.  I don't have 25 bitcoins.  Actually right now I have about 10 over a couple of accounts.   What I am willing to do is give a couple of you guys that are community figure heads putty access to the server in order to log on and see that payouts will be real time and verify anything that you have questions about.    If need be I will be more than willing to give phone numbers, places of my employment and other information that you guys need to vet me.

I agree 100%.  People make me sick.  I want to build a long term pool and continue to grow it.  Im currently working on the front end.. php is not my forte.  I would like to go live as of Jan 1.  I would like to do a load test prior if I can get a few people to throw a couple hundred TH/s my way for like 1 hour some time this month.

Yes but the biggest problem seems to be that people think it's ok to learn about this and risk millions of peoples $ while doing that ...

... and just as bad, the people with millions of $ of hardware take those risks as well ... not sure if it's plain ignorance of the situation or if it is deception.

If I want to learn about flying a plane, really bad idea to do that on my own with a passenger jet full of hundreds of people ...

As I have told any 'newbie'  since the Nexious  theft

put 25 coins in escrow if not with me  ,

with OgNasty or -ck

I will pay .25 btc to   either of them to escrow the first block,   and I will add .25 btc  to the first block payout.

I will advise all miners to not join any new pool from a newbie.

Unless they at a minimum  escrow the first block.

Which I will add .25btc to and either hold the escrow or pay someone like _ck or OgNasty .25btc in escrow funds.

No I don't give lessons on using it Tongue

Hint: the two cgminer developers are ... -ck (and me)

OK how's this ...

100 pools will not make Bitcoin better.

100 good pools will make Bitcoin better.

You won't make a good pool by point and click and watching youtube videos.

--

Or think of it this way:

If I wanted to make an airline company ...

Since I don't want to pay lots to get the right people who know their business in airline management, good pilots, pay airport fees, make sure the planes wont be falling out of the sky due to not having highly skilled maintenance people, etc, etc, instead:
I want a point and click video on how to do it ... surely anyone can create a good airline company after watching a youtube video ...

Nice point there

Nobody can create a top notch pool through point and click videos.  But...

you can learn from others.

Also I might add,
JohnyBravo0311 I joined your pool, if you need any help let me know

A newbie here as well, I too have thought of starting a pool, but really i just want to be involved with a group/community/business involving mining.

I've checked out the limited number of YouTube videos explaining how to setup a back and frontend via Ubuntu.  It seems somewhat complicated for a first time pool creator, but hey, thats how we all learn!

Does anyone have any pointers? I too am interested in feedback.  And Bravo I can contribute 1.4Th/s lol, thats all I have for now.

Looking forward to your reply

I know that this is probably the worst possible time but I am getting close to getting ready to go.    I will do what i can to ease the trust issues when the time comes.  I too had thrown about 4 th/s for well over a month at nexious. I thought that it seemed legit.  Just wanted to help some one else get a pool going as i had aspirations of starting my own.    I'm hoping the fact that I will be based in the US will help some with the trust.

are you a developer? if so, maybe a Hybrid type pool is the right thing to launch, and as a DC, I'd want to have that Smiley

I hate to be "that guy" but you're a newbie account.  You're going to have a VERY hard time convincing anybody to trust you.  I, too, was burned by Nexious - I was the guy that found the block on his pool and exposed the scammer.  As a result, I just opened up my own pool.  You're welcome to throw your hash (and your friends' hash) my way.

www.bravo-mining.com

As soon as I get this next miner up - you'll see some hash from me Smiley

Laviathon,

Good luck.  As mentioned by jonny it'll be tough to get support from here being a newbie.  Far too many scammers out there and people will only get burned once before never doing it again.
