A mobile friendly version, that's all.

This is 2020 for jeez sake.

The only thing that bothers me is the effort it takes to multi-quote. I personally don't mind zooming in and out on mobile. I also wonder what the index page would look like -- and how navigable it would be -- on a mobile version. I hate the way most mobile websites sacrifice functionality for appearance.

I'm using the script developed by fahbil, mentioned also by NeuroticFish. It works almost flawless so far. The only bugs I spotted is that avatars aren't shown, signatures are truncated and sometimes the last PM received is not displayed. But these are minor bugs. However, it seems that fahbil is inactive since last summer, so the bugs won't be fixed too soon.

The script is great for browsing and for writing simple replies and it allows to keep the phone in vertical position. It is not suitable though for multiple quoting or for writing commands in code (writing in bold, italic, tables etc.).

All by all it is a great tool for browsing the forum and for using basic functions.

On a desktop I could at least copy paste and paste but on a phone very difficult.

The worst are the pyramid quotes and the highlight text feature that keeps scrolling to the top/ bottom just to remove them. Very annoying.

You are not using your phone correctly.

Hodl your phone horizontally and the problem solves itself.

May be ok to surf but not helpful in typing, most are used to type in portrait mode, in landscape you will find typing a chore.

I would rather zoom to read than to rotate modes.

What are you trying to say?
I think he's trying to say that it looks lousy and that he probably figured that by 2020 bitcointalk would have a mobile-friendly site.  Not to be, I guess, but I don't access the forum on my phone anymore so I'm fine with that.

Maybe with the new forum software that should be launched any day now....ah, forget it.  I don't even feel like making a joke about it.  I like the forum just the way it is and I'd be more than happy if it never changed.

Ah, if people never complained about stuff, things would never improve.  I'm all for bitching as long as it's coherent and relevant.

Good suggestion, but personally it's not convenient for me. I rather keep my phone vertical and just zoom in text.
I very rarely use my PC or laptop for bitcointalk.org

99.99999% of the time I use this site via my mobile phone & it’s great. I don’t have a problem with it, in fact I’d hate to use a specific mobile, app type version. I much prefer it like this.
Exactly my thoughts. Most of time I use it on mobile, and I'm fine with it. And on most other forums, I really don't like mobile versions/apps because half of features aren't working compared with desktop version.

OP, is it not enough drama here, that you want to start another one with subject that was discussed so many times before. Offcourse, there was lot of money spend in development of new version of forum in these long years. But starting another topic about it won't help. If you will complain, it doesn't means that new forum version will be released faster.

You could also try some mobile apps dedicated to SMF deployments until the new version of the forum is out. I've just done some quick research and found this one for example - which is not free though (US$99  Tongue).
This is something for the owner of the SMF forum. They develop and “BitcoinTalk Forum” app and help you deploy it on Play Store and iOS App Store. It’s not something a forum user buys, and not for $99. Cheesy

LOL that's hilarious.

A forum about the technology of the future (blockchain), yet cannot implement a mobile friendly version. Hilarious and sad at the same time.
So you always try to find something to start drama about it and think that you will earn some merit from there? You know your dramas are really not working in WO anymore and now came here to give an try here.

Edit: How many times you want the users to talk about the same shit for you?

I use this on mobile - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?;wap2

It's hopeless for quoting and there are some format problems but it's a lot more usable.

If my only choice was the OG format on mobile I would crack up in the space of a few hours and run out into the night with my panties on my head.

I don't really use mobile to surf bitcointalk or any other forums because on mobile the font size is too small and it will make us stressed feeling especially in the eyes.I didn't notice any difference on both devices other than the font size but its worth to mention about the last edit information on every posts will be available on a mobile device but on desktop we need to hover the cursor near to find the details of last edit.

When the development on the new forum began in 2014 and still has barely anything to show for it... I think it's fair to point out we're now in 2020.

After 6 years in development, that's acceptable for games but never for such simple forum software.

If the look of the forum bothers you so much on your smartphone, just don't use it that way. I personally do not mind that the forum does not look perfect on a smartphone, there are ways to at least partially fix it, but I can see that it's much easier to request the mobile version. It won't happen sooner because of your request or anyone else's, reconcile with things as they are, or simply switch to another more modern crypto forum.

45% of the world's population has no internet access at all, 15 000 children die every day due to starvation and curable diseases, this is how the world is looks today in 2020...

Come on don't be such a kiddo thinker, if you have a 20-20 vision this isn't an issue at all, I'm happy sitting in front of my laptop monitor as well browsing the forum. If you can read left to right then top to bottom as well as writing texts across your mobile phone, that is good you are still a typical human being. Don't let the forum adjust for you mate, you should be the one to adjust, no offense  Wink.
I strongly disagree. The forum is barely readable on default zoom on iphone 5/6/8. Having to rezoom on every page load is a pain in the ass, and definitely something that turns users off, or in any case, me.

It would be both beneficial to the forum and me for it to change. Thus, it seems only logical to me to point it out.

You can keep sucking things up your entire life, but then in the end nothing will change, except your 20/20 vision.

The year isn't the case to discuss because it is that/this year, that doesn't matter. If the new forum software isn't desktop friendly but hasn't launched yet that can be adjusted before it will be ready so that both are user-friendly.

Thanks for the advice, but if bitcointalk had a mobile version, we would be able to browse and read well regardless of the direction, that's my point.
We are entering a new year, even a new decade (cardinal decade), this is 2020, mobile browsing has been mainstream for over 5 years now, yet it sucks to read and write on a mobile because the version is still desktop. A shame. A good resolution from an admin to start this new year would be to create a mobile phone version, hope it can be done soon.  Kiss
I wouldn't get your hopes up. The new forum "version" has been in development for (i think) half a decade now. I think it's already done, but just not yet implemented (Huh).

See this section, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=167.0
You can check how the new forum looks here https://www.cryptos-currencies.com/boards, imo; better on mobile, worse on desktop.

What makes you think that everybody wants a new forum software?

I for example, am perfectly happy with the current look.

If this (https://www.cryptos-currencies.com/boards) is the new look, then I would say it looks like shit and this forum is going to lose thousands of its current users the moment they implement this piece of shit.
