yes you are crazy because what people say they believe should not be the reason for you to make investment decisions with your precious money!  when online people become full of themselves and some of them even feel like prophets trying to predict the future with 0 knowledge of any kind.

the facts is that bitcoin price has been at the bottom and every attempt to dump it any lower has been failing miserably so far. and meanwhile the altcoins are continuing to get dumped more.
if any signal is true  it is the signal saying you should be accumulating bitcoin while staying away from altcoins for now.
i personally am still trading the coins that are getting pumped every day but if you want to start investing in altcoins at least wait for the bigger obvious pumps to begin then invest not now that there is still dumping going on.
Well, that depends on how the person wants to perceive it, either in the short term or in the long term. Practically, I believe no one will be able to have all the coins when considering the currently available coins numbers, yes even we filtering out reliable and promising, I doubt no one will able to bet on all.

I personally have never believed at some point though that altcoins are meant for long term investments, considering the rate at which they always come back to their historical bottom over time, and I see them always as a pump and dump market, but for some solid projects, and the rate at which the alts have gone down hugely, I would say it is better to still take advantage of those solid ones, while still making bitcoin a priority in the long run.

I have been in the market since 2017, the moment of strong burst of cryptocurrency. By 2018, there is a significant setback for cryptocurrency, but that does not stop me from believing in this market. While everyone expects a rebound at the end of the year, I expect again the market will plummet and BTC may return  4000$.

Am i crazy are not? No! Because I look at long-term value, long-term investment rather than just looking at the short term, I have always believed in the rapid growth of the cryptocurrency market in the years to come, so this is the time when I will invest in cryptocurrency. And you? Please tell me about your intent?

Well there is nothing wrong in long term investment, if that's  what you prefer then its good for you. But taking advantage of all the bull run specially when an altcoins is at it peak would give  more profit, that is in relevance with what you said  that bitcoin will return 4000, its crazy to think that you wont take profit if this currency reach 25k again by the end of the year.

Certainly, it seems you have the knowledge and strategy to be investing in a market, which is something a lot of newbie investors do not have. This is a market and there is always going to be season for everything and as long as the market is not dead, there will always be the chance for the bears and the bulls to act on the market whenever the market condition favors them.

Now is more like the time to be stashing up though, but as it is, we still have to understand that the market could go lower, but in that case, we buy more at the lower points. I believe no one could be able to invest into ALL the available cryptocurrencies as over state of diversification may lead to miss out good projects.

Based on what fact have you stated that the price will go down to $4,000? How are you so sure that the market will fall down further. This is the crypto market. The market might follow the trend sometimes and sometimes it might not and show some anomaly. The market is completely unpredictable. If you invest based on random prediction, then i can assure you that you are going to be dissapointed soon enough.

Bitcoin for some reason refuse to go below $6000. It is no brainer that the price of bitcoin will higher in the next decade but bitcoin fluctuations could kill you if you attempt to trade it. My advice would be divide your capitals into portion and just buy a bit of bitcoin every month.

I have been thinking the same thing, Bitcoin has bounced off of the low $6k range so many times this year, seems to be very strong support at those levels. Hopefully this support holds, but if it breaks we potentially could see a much longer bear market. I'm honestly thinking the SEC decision on sept 30 for the Vaneck ETF will play a huge role in whether or not the market will be bullish or bearish over the next year.
ETF decision by SEC will have the effect on the bitcoin prices but not a long term effect which might ignite a dump or bump at the market for a while then later the people will accept their decision and will move on to their investment plan.

If more people took a longer term outlook on their investment we wouldn't have such harsh downswings as we have had. People get too caught up in a short term mentality and it harms their investment and also btc adoption. I likewise feel the market will fall a little lower but not much further, after that I do believe a reversal is fairly imminent and within 1-2 years maximum we will be back to previous ATH levels.
The reason why the market is highly speculative as it is today is because a lot of people do not think like the OP and all they care about is to make huge and shit load of money in the short term. That greedy mindset of getting rich quick is what has made a lot of them to end up panicking for no reason, seeing an advantage and discarding because of their less understanding of the market and then the whales take advantage of those emotions.

As long as someone is profiting, someone is losing and there is no two ways about it, and in this case, in the long term, those without knowledge that are considered weak hands will always keep losing.

I don't think it can happen. Bitcoin's price barrier IMO is set on about $6k or so. People are not willing to sell it for lower price and this was confirmed numerously since the big dump at the beginning of the year. People were guessing it could go lower, but it never declined another 10% in the price, even when there were news that could lead to the drop from $7k to $6300 easily. I hope things will at least stay this way and thus we'll be able to get used to the current price as normal and fair. It is good to see that there it some price the vast majority agrees with. It makes cryptocurrency less vulnerable and more appropriate for actual usage.

Well i read this article a while back about crypto having a major correction.
I quote “Cryptocurrencies will experience a "heavy correction" of 90 percent leading to a "mass market wipe out," technology investment bank GP Bullhound predicted in a report.”
https://www.google.com.ng/amp/s/www.cnbc.com/amp/2018/05/02/cryptocurrencies-heading-towards-90-percent-correction-investment-bank-warns.html

I think this is about right, the market i know is correcting hard and investing back in solid projects, long term project that know what they are doing is vital because to me the correction will still go on for a while. But hey i can admit the behavior of investors will ultimately still determine the price. My intent is to keep investing with money i can afford to lose.

what you call burst and set back are just pumps and dumps. and now you are seeing the dump not the setback which is entirely different. and that is why you should not try to get into the market at this point if you are not familiar with the ways that the pump and dumps work otherwise you will be caught again in the dumping side of things and lose more money like you lose this year.

some people want a recovery for the market and some hope the market will fall worse. indeed no one can predict it right, but if the market falls and bitcoin falls to $4000 it is normal, so I think that is the right time to fold assets to hold in the long term. because crypto is not only for today, but there is still tomorrow and the future is waiting. I have the same opinion as you, then do it if it happens later.

If the bearish sentiment continues for the rest of the year, it is possible that the price could plummet and we find a new bottom. Though I don't believe it'll be around the 4k like you said, I think there's a possibility (very small) that we could test the 5k's levels as I think there'll a lot of resistance at that mark.

There's also the possibility that we could test the 10k again since, historically, prices tend to go up towards the end of the year. It'll depend on whether there's a shift in market sentiment in the upcoming weeks, we have that Bitcoin ETF and everyone's waiting for the SEC decision. If it gets delayed then there's a high chance that we could go down meaning that we'll probably end the year below 10k, but if there's a quick rebound and bulls trigger a btc rally, then prices could go up, although I don't think we'll test last year's ATH.

I don't know what's with $4,000 but the same number I've been seeing not only here in the forum but also in social media.

I've read the same sentiments about that price that it will drop to that extent but looking at it today, we're still far ahead to that price. In crypto, everything is possible and volatile so it can rapidly growth in an unstoppable manner but it can also drop like there's no tomorrow.
