This is like a ponzi. Make it in small amounts and many would join this game.

Time is on our side, yes it is!
So it clear you could very well send the coins back but I wanted you to point out that the risk is not worth the reward and I'm obviously not the only person that feels that way.

@Evil-Kinevel It also would not be very logical to risk .2 just to restore a strangers faith in the amount of trust on the bitcointalk forum and the hope of gaining a 1/4 of that amount back.

Edit: It is not free there is risk involved.  Put up .2 or get nothing equals a cost to me...  So not FREE.

There is scams like this all the time around here so expecting multiple people to send you .2 bitcoin just so you can get some random idea of how much trust there is on the forum is well ridiculous.  You should rethink this "deal" your offering because is seems likely this is another scam than it is a generous person wanting to test the level of trust on the forum.

This is the problem here ... lack of trust which causes people to suspect a first class scam here.
I would say the only way to find out, is to try? But this is only doable with trust, isn't it?  Grin

And actually ... yes: I was just curious how high the trust is among bitcoin users. Obviously is it below 0  Wink

Your logic is very flawed on this matter.  You under the impression that there is zero trust here because ppl don't send you .2 bitcoin for a small profit.  If they don't trust you does not mean there is no trust here is means they do not trust you...
I would trust many bitcoiners.  But not some random person asking that numerous people to send 1/5 btc to gain 1/8 btc.
People have done the "circle of trust" sending a small amount of btc from person to person and a majority of ppl that participate don't run off with the coins and I've been interested in joining that game many times.

There is trust here and there is also logic.

If you really want to gain more trust from the community, my suggestion is scale your offer.

Send 0.02 btc and receive 0.025 btc. Your trust will skyrocket.

He's not looking to gain trust... He's trying to see if the users trust the system.

I think I misunderstood devthedev. My kind request to OP is just close this thread, cos., everyone is travelling in the risky border in the community. It could be very hard to check trust this way. Even if you can prove that this could be a trustable system, then think about scammers. They will come out in large scale.

my 2 cents.

I just want to check out how large the trust is among this community:

So this is the game:
You send 0.20 BTC to this address 1Nxe4FUQaNXApnHSA1f8cKUpgF9t4s5UTr,
and you get 0.25 BTC back a few minutes later Wink

Will I run with the money, will you make a quick buck? Will you lose 0.20 BTC?
Decide yourself  Cheesy I know this is a dilemma!

Please ask before sending any funds, so I can coordinate so that nobody else sends simultaneously.
I am not refunding, and only giving away 1x 0.05 BTC.

Evil-Knievel I know you are a good man and perhaps people can trust you. (I don't know you that much to be 100% sure Smiley but as I think it is like that)

But Smiley your thread looks like a ponzi Cheesy
and when I read your thread:
I just want to check out how large the trust is among this community:

You know Wink that it is hard to trust anybody around and it is good that this community do not trust easly because there are hundreds of scammers.

So Smiley it is quite better to at first "don't give a trust" Smiley and later possible "give some trust"
Smiley

Anyway.

Strange giveaway Smiley I like idea - if this is not a ponzi Cheesy and for now it is not.

kind regards

There is a reason why the amount is 0.2btc. EK is testing trust, not members' willingness to gamble.
Besides, it turned out exactly how it is on the forum.

"I am not refunding, and only giving away 1x 0.05 BTC." means if I send and I am the second one sending you will keep the 0.2, that is a huge risk

Ask for someone to send 0.05 for a 100% profit you will have more contestants

I like the idea, it is interesting to see nobody is sending

Yes, it is really funny  Grin
I bet there are still many people around nervously thinking about it.

Go down to 0.15 to send and 0.1 if it is unsuccessful to see if someone bites

Yes I just noticed this thread but I would have send 0.02
Maybe OP should ask send me 0.15 and get 0.05 free and if nobody sends after 24h he can go down and we will see when someone catches (may be me)
