Normally, the minimum wage suppose be for every organization workers in the country, but there are some organization who are not capable to pay their workers the 70#k minimum wage, even some states in the country will not be able to pay this minimum wage, but to the federal government is very important for federal government to pay her workers this minimum wage. With the current increment of fuel, I don't think it will make the government workers to enjoy this new  minimum wage because the cost of living in the country is very high right now, and it will not allow them to save what will better their life in the future. Even the federal government workers are not smiling with the new minimum wage because is not encouraging compare the price of food stuff and transport fair these days.

No need for you to dey confuse as long as you dey naija expect anything, corpers go complain tire but when election time reach na them go wan go officiate the whole electoral process all in the name of serving our father land, land wey no get meaning. I hate when we dey complain but if we see anything wey them use money take drag us we go foget the complain run go get the money first as if the money no go finish.
I like as them do corpers like that, make them learn if them care to, as for the civil servants their matter no go end today oh, minimum wage wey them wan give them na paper e end and e go always be like audio to everybody for this contri, after 70k no go even go anywhere.

This thing has been very confusing because it's been sounding like audio only, without it been put to action. That's how they promised they were going to pay nysc corpers 77k but they still paid 33k for September allawee. Corpers have been lamenting since. First they said 70k and then they said it was going to be 77k. Very confusing

Minimum wage of 70k is not good enough for the current state of the economy, as the price of goods and services in the market is very cost and the minimum wage can not be used to sustain your delay living. Infact as of today the price of a bag of rice is 100k so weather both the private and public sectors pay the minimum wage the cost of living is just too far above your minimum wage as a worker

I thought it was a development but not anymore, currently the Labour union felt betrayed by the federal government by telling them to accept 70k minimum wage and the price of the petrol will not increase again but rather decrease, after a month when they payment have not started the petrol price began to hike and non of the Civil service have benefited from the minimum wage, the labour also said that the government said if they want him to pay 250k minimum wage then the price of petrol will raise to the ₦1000-₦2000 and the labour looks into it and accept the 70k to make life easier for the common man but unfortunately the government failed them by deceiving them from the beginning, I don't know what the labour will do next.
Is not that I don't like government work, if am been given now I will rush to collect it, but I prefer to be self-employed because civil servant only have fixed amount which they are entitled to every month, the money can not cover their needs and no time for them to do any side hustle because all their youthful age are been used by governments and when the are old they drop them.

they will increase the minimum wage and then increase the price of fuel and the cost of living increases past the minimum wage, what's the the essence of such development? Even if they've implemented the increased minimum wage, it wouldn't circulate much and a lot of people won't even know that such thing has been implemented because the majority of people are no longer in the public sector. Even those that are earning above $100k are still struggling just to survive not to talk of save up some extra money to be used in carrying out a personal project. Up till last month, corpers are still receiving the old 33k and from all indication they've been excluded of the plan even when inflation is hitting on them and most of them have left thier comfort zone where they can get helot from family and friends and have gone into strange land just to get serve the federal government and yet they are still being factored of the minimum wage plan. It's not like this is not a good development and surely, if they've started paying workers it's also a good thing but the reality still remains that relative to how inflation has gotten serious, the minimum wage is too small.

It’s a good development seriously because with the rate of inflation in the country this development will assist a lot of people because the minimum wage in the past is barely enough to feed on and parents have children to take care of and do other things so this new payment will help them alot. But am i missing something? I have heard about this development for a while now but no one i know have received the newly announced minimum wage payment. Months have passed and still nothing yet or is it just here in my state? 

It’s true they are not really successful but then what you’re thinking is different from what others are thinking. There are people whose dream is to become a civil servant and that’s his own definition of success and only when he has achieved that can he tell himself that he is successful because working as a civil servant means he can earn a living and cater for himself and can now have a wife and children. So to some being a civil servant means a lot to them.

The country corrupt but that one no be news. Concerning this minimum wage mata, I read for somewhere say whether Kaduna state don start to pay them workers but again, e fit be fake news wey them just drop to deceive people. You know say naija and audio money nah one.

I no this will happen because the system is too corrupt, Nigeria is the only country I have seen that would announce something but go around to do the opposite, imagine the the announcement they did since the month of July they still have not implemented it is very sad actually because the government have not given us any reasons for us to believe in them, however since they are not going to start with the minimum wage this month so when would they start using it?, is so sad that even the minimum wage cannot even buy any tangible thing considering our economical state and the government is still acting this way, the way I'm even seeing it I don't think the minimum wage includes those private companies.

I think this matter has been resolved and he’s no longer in police custody again. They were many threats from other bodies that are under the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress, who have vowed to take action if the man is remanded in police detention. Like the electricity board, the association vow to close down all powers and put Nigerians in total blackout if they don’t release him. The human right also spoke about it and express their dissatisfaction towards that, tempering with human rights.

The minimum wage has been approved by the government early this month which was even before the 15th of the month which payment of salaries wouldn’t have been concluded by then. Heard from a federal government worker that the minimum wage is still not implemented in this months salary. I don’t know how long to take to effect this, but the president is yet to address that as long as citizens haven’t received the new minimum wage yet.

This isn't a new thing in Nigeria especially when you're fighting for the overall benefit of the masses.
Many who have stoop up and challenge the government have always face this kind of harassment,intimidation and sometime narrowly escape assassination,thugs hired to killed them.

The labour president even before been elected into that office knew the kind of things he is going to face. The best thing he can do for now is to continue to hold God tight and seek His protection and guidance because in Nigeria,those canker worms and maggots,those behind the corridor of power will use every weapons in their arsenal within their possession and power to come after him until they silence him.

As Nigeria's citizens are waiting for the minimum wage to be paid to them, another twist of action is about to take place by the NPF(Nigeria Police Force), accusing the labor president of treason, terrorism financing, and other heinous crimes.




It is very heartbreaking that our government is on the move to silence the labor president with their power of governance just because they feel like Ajero is becoming a threat to them in demands of the increased minimum wage of Nigeria.

This is what you get to see when bad leaders take the mantle of leadership in government, they will use their political power to intimidate or silence anyone who tries to rise against them. The new minimum wage is applicable to all sectors in Nigeria including the Federal, State, local government and private companies. The past minimum wage before this was passed to law is 30K monthly and many states don’t pay that amount to their workers, in fact I know of a state that still pays less than 20K as minimum wage despite the increment during Buhari’s regime. Maybe the law allows state governments to put their own minimum wage as they want, but I know the federal government after effecting the increment will increase the allocation given to them and that shouldn’t make them have an excuse not to pay but this is that state we still find ourselves in today in Nigeria.


This is a very good development but will the new minimum wage be okay to compensate for the hardship the country is currently facing is not what I’m sure about. With this new minimum wage and without price regulations, those market people will still add more money to their goods because they believe workers now have more increment in salary which is something the government is suppose to look into. If they’re allowed to set price as they want, it will be as if the new minimum wage is still the same as the previous one because it won’t caution the economic hardship faced by Nigerians. Also, I don’t think the private sectors will pay that amount even if the government as pass it into law, no regulations to make that effective because with the economy hardship faced by all, it’ll make private sectors be at loss if they want to pay workers as the government wants it to be.

have you ever seen a civil servant that's completely happy or even leaving fine exception of the ones that are occupying a serious office where apart from thier regular salary they still get a lot of other incentive from the office? Working as a civil servant isn't rewarding at all and this is part of the reason why the police would constantly brutalize innocent people on the road at any slight provocation because what they are being paid isn't even anywhere close to the suffering they are passing through under the sun and in in the middle of the night. After retiring from active serve so many of them don't even get to receive the pension early enough? Some will go from year to year to the pension office until some die along the way and yet won't get thier pension paid to them. Is it not the main reason why when you ask an average youth if they would want to become a teacher they will blatantly refuse because looking at the living condition of most teachers it's absolutely nothing to desire should you choose that as an occupatin.

Your retirement benefits might not be guaranteed as a private sector worker but at least, the pay is even better and you get some previlages and a good working environment that makes doing the job fun and worth doing. It's not as though the new 70k minimum wage isn't an improvement, it's certainly a good one that they've lessoned to the cry of the masses but when we consider the reality that the level at which inflation has eaten us to, 70k is still not good enough.

Omo this country is just so unreliable in every aspect, shey the president and labour been don agree say na 70k minimum wage and Senate approved the bill come pass am into law. But do you believe that federal government still paid the old minimum wage of 33k to workers for July salary. Shey when dem don pass bill into law e supposed take effect immediately. I been dey do my nysc and I come dey expect say dem go pay us the new minimum wage of 70k omo I was totally disappointed when the payment was made na the old wage I see. So what do think could be the cause why dem still pay the old wage to workers for July?

I appreciate the fact that the President has recognized that there is need for a constitutional review of the minimum wage. But the problem is deeper than that, 70 thousand naira looks good but on the average, what can it really get for you in the market considering the hike in food prices. The people's purchasing power is eroding due to inflation, so we will appreciate it, if the government can do more in terms fighting inflation and restoring back the value of the naira, that way the 70 thousand naira can be seen to be appreciated.  Though the Nigerian labour congress said, they will be coming back to demand what they refer to as a living way, which pegged the amount around 250 thousand.

  I agree with you mate, the FG always try as much as possible to design good policies for all but state Governors will not implement it, they will make the citizens believe that the FG is the problem of this country meanwhile they are the major problem,  they earn high allocation every month plus state internal revenue yet we're still suffering in this country,  no progress and everyone will just be blaming the FG and left the Governors out.  In the 2018 minimum wage some state Governors didn't pay till date, so how would they pay the 70k minimum wage? This is my only fear about the new minimum wage.

Someone once told me that, the major problem we have in this country is our state governors. Our state governors are the major problem we have in this country. They are the ones to be held responsible for how bad a state can be in the country cos every month a huge amount of money is been allocated to them in the development of their state. As wicked and greedy as they are to choose to pocket the money for their selfish gains. However, let's see what drama they will choose to play in not being able to pay the 70k minimum wage when the FG has approved that.

In all, Nigeria needs more to meet up with the cost of living. The cost of living is way damn too high for many Nigerians to survive on. The 70k minimum wage is around $48, many families can't pay their bills with it for about a month before they receive another monthly salary.

I think in my own opinion that the increase of the minimum wage was orchestrated as a result of the nation wide protest that was heavily planned on by Nigerians. It was announced so that the NLC can reduce their pressure as well as their intentions to protest against the present doing of the government. The current situation of the country is that which is exteme in its own nature which is due to the economic hardships bedeviling the livelihood of people right now. The people are not happy with rhe government and the government is finding its ways to cool down the issue based on the protest planned across the nation. Well, I hope all this announcement will be in its truest nature.

We should stop complaining about the amount we all condemned it, its small but is a win for the organise labour atleast there struggle yield result. The main issue now is implementation by  the Governors and LGA Chairmen, that's where we should channel our energy to now, if like it or not the FG under Mr president has played their role by approving the 70k minimum wage, but he has to ensure all state government implement it. The Nigerian workers deserves more.

We all know things are very expensive but with 70k additional to the worker, they will smile to the bank, Copper will also earn the 70k when implemented.
