In summary:

  • Diokno: "cryptocurrencies are not really currencies, as they are more appropriately referred to as virtual assets"
  • Non-verbatim:"Wow angdaming nag eexchange ng crypto sa exchanges, prepare for more taxes!"

Eto talaga yun. Nakikita nila ang utility ng bitcoin sa pagpapapalit-palit lang ng value, pero not so much when it comes to actual transactions na pagsesend from one place to another. Either way, this still nets positive reaction from them, and who knows baka mas mag soften-up pa ang gobyerno at ang BSP sa policies, laws, and regulations na hinahanda nila sa kasalukuyan.

At regarding sa taxation, we already saw it coming from miles away.

Expected na natin to, knowing the government, as cryptocurrency makes noise and becomes massively adapted the more it gets the government's attention. The government will sooner or later include this as a tax subject. Either we like it or not we all know and we are well aware that we can't avoid corruption lalo na sa ating bansa.

Limited in number. Limitless in potential.
These figures ay galing lamang sa mga regulated exchanges, so how much more if isali na yung mga non-custodial wallets but that's not possible as of the moment.

We also anticipate a continued increase in the adoption of virtual currencies in the payments and remittances sphere, as well as in the delivery of other financial services. This follows from an observed growth in virtual currency business activities from BSP-registered exchanges in the past few years,”
Good approach sa finance department ng bansa and expect this will be another chapter ng "another tax na naman" but sana nga enough na yung fees na kuha ng coins and other custodial wallets or taxes na nakukuha nila sa mga regulated exchanges dito sa bansa.

They support cryptocurrency since then, and since marame na ang nagtitiwa sa Bitcoin mas lalo pa nila pinagbubuti ang pagreregulate dito.
