This is very good example how can someone miss the right moment for selling. He should sell week, or weeks ago and now to wait a good moment for getting back and to buy bitcoins with a discount. Learn from other people mistakes!
I don't know what to suggest to OP, it will be rough ride for bitcoins in next couple weeks. Selling right now can be a good decision, price is falling, and I think we will see lower price in next days. Selling now and buying when price go down more will bring more bitcoins, and if price go higher by the end of the year it will be a nice profit. This is risky but very possible outcome.

Why are you considering 22 July as an important date? As far as I know the most important date regarding all the fork FUD is the first of August.
Last summer Bitcoin's price lost half its value, but by Christmas it was hitting ATHs. Keep your coins, wait until next Christmas, and hope history repeats itself.
I too feel the same really. I bought @2500 and so far is a big loss, and at the rate its falling it will probably be worth nothing before 1st of Aug!
So now the question is to sell all now at a loss then wait a bit when the price is really cheap and buy again and end up with more coins? Wouldn't that be the sensible thing to do in this situation? I don't think the price will recover soon anyway as there is no reason for the price to go up now so the only way is down!

You're too late to sell all. If I become like you, I will keep all and wait until things get better, because I'm sure bitcoin will get better again as well as the price.
There is only one way to get through this: HODL!!!!
You guys should stop panicking and start thinking rationally. If you look at bitcoin's history you can clearly see that prices always tend to pump up at some point and then crash a couple weeks later to only recover in the next few years. If you just hold on to your coins for a year you should be good but if fyou're in crypto for a quick buck then perhaps this market isn't for you at this moment.
Ideally you should not invest more than 10-15% of your assets.
If you invested more than that and really needs the money, I suggest selling the excess after 15% of your assets, and keep the rest.

buy high sell low? that don't sound like a very good plan to me but it is the most common one. there's always gonna be a crisis on the horizon. make your peace with it or walk away.

You are not losing money as long as you don't sell it. Selling Bitcoin right now is suicide, don't fail in the panic group. Otherwise, you will regret within a month. Look also https://coinmarketcap.com/ you can see it's a general behaviour these last days, it's not like if the only bitcoin was in this situation. Keep calm and buy more

If you are in loss why would you sell your coins how can you be so dumb. I can understand you are frustrated, who isn't? But this is temporary, one Bitcoin rises back your looses shall be covered and you shall gain rich rewards. I would advise you from refrain from selling your coins. It's a stupid move to sell in looses. Instead for few days do not look at the coins price, just sit tight and sell later at a profit I am sure you will earn a lot, maybe even a reward me for stopping you committing a blunder.
