Bumping this one again as there is more fake activity starting from 24th of December with fresh accounts.
Thanks to Rikafip for bringing the attention back to the bounty.
Seems like those spammers from ILCOIN MINI BOUNTY came back. In the first 2 months of the campaign approximately 400 members joined, and now in the last 4-5 days even more than that joined, so looks like they restarted.
This time is a bit different though, as they signed up and are in the spreadsheet. Also, it looks like that there are several different batches of accounts.

@btcltcdigger, I guess you can unlock the thread, as all the spammers were nuked. Let's see if they will come back again, so keep an eye on it for just in case you need to lock it again.
I haven't seen it happening again. Hope that was the end.

Have you received any feedback from the company regarding the bot spam?

The project team claims they have nothing to do with it.

I'm unlocking it, so lets see what happens

I'm happy to see a serious bounty manager. I'll keep an eye on the thread. If the team really have nothing to do with the bumps then this is probably an directed attack towards the project, or a random spam. We'll see Smiley

Doesn't seem like this was a side wide attack, and only specifically for that thread. It'll be interesting whether this continues after the thread has been unlocked. I'm glad that the thread was locked for a preventive measure as going through them manually was exhausting. However, I was also expecting to see this leak into other bounty threads, but it seems to be a targeted attack on this particular thread.

I find your lack of faith in Bitcoin disturbing.
From what you wrote, I imagine that nuke is only applied for newbies by moderators and above; or nuke is applied for all ranks but moderators are only allowed to nuke newbies and for higher ranks only global moderators or admins can nuke them.

Mods, GM and admins can nuke (a type of) newbies.
Ranks above (and some newbies) cannot be nuked by anyone, but they can be banned by GMs and admins.

What is nuking anyway in terms of this forum?

Nuking a user means that a mod can, with a single click, delete all user's messages and ban him immediately.
But it only works on newbies.

Ah i get it now.
That surely is a nice option to have. Must be  load on the forum server tho, since some newbies do rank up quite a bit of spam

Can you clarify my question, please.

Someone was quite busy the past 24 hours > https://bitcointalk.org/modlog.php
All accounts are nuked now. Hope we find a better solution in the future to avoid troubling the mods with this kind of sh!t work.

Just creating all the accounts should rack up evil fees.. I wonder how this bot is able to create all these accounts, as he must be jumping to fresh and clean IPs, paying the evil fees, or something..
I don't think they will be paying any evil fees. Jumping to clean IP's is relatively simple and so is bypassing the captcha.

Email verification when creating new accounts would go a long way to preventing so many bot accounts... just saying
Could slow the process a bit but definitely wouldn't stop it. Like I said above it is relatively easy to spin up a fake email verification service using any of the SMTP server providers.

It looks like there is no end to the spam/account-bot drama... they keep producing accounts and spamming the thread. Wonder what will they acheeve at the end..
Poor moderatiors if they have to nuke every single account manually...

I've temporarily locked the thread until this thing gets sorted out

BTC or BUST
I hope there will be reaction from the staff soon and probably some good changes preventing this shit from happening again as well.
Perhaps evil points can help us.
After all of these accounts are banned, the evil points of IP (or IPs) associated with these accounts will increase significantly. Then they will have to pay for registering new accounts.

The fact is that there are more than 400 alt accounts who  posted in the thread.

And this number is increasing very fast.
113 out of last 500 created accounts have made a post in this thread.

All links to profiles of those spammers should be edited. They are now working.
Add ":" after https

Damn again, I fixed the main post, forgot to fix the quoted post of course. Now it should be working.

You mean the team doesn't care about their reputation on the forum? Have you asked the team if they have hired any thread bumping services? I'm glad you responded to the thread here but as their BM, you should educate them about the rules on the forum as well.

If only it was that easy, and if only they would listen. Cheesy
I always advise projects to keep it organic and legit, but some projects fall under fake promises of "activity" and "hype".
I've asked the team if they have anything to do with this, but so far no answer.

But ILcoin is a specific project. It's a fork of some other project (don't remember the exact details) but i do know there's some bad blood between them, but it's usually confined to telegram groups.

Good point, but as a BM of this campaign, the signup sheet is what i have to show to the ILcoin team, not the forum thread. From what i can see, these bots didn't sign up in the forms, so i don't know what the purpose of these posts are, as thread bumping has been a thing of the past for few months now

And if mods need permission to check my ip (which i highly doubt they do), it's given
Not mods *Admins have access to your IP addresses without your permission anyway.
