This is not news at all.  People have been paying with bitcoin using personal electronics for years.

Just another apple fanboy promotion?  So apple has a digital watch - who cares?   Undecided

I, for one, will wait for the iAnkleBracelet to come out.

"Hello, Bruno. Welcome back to Cracker Barrel. Will it be the usual, Uncle Herschel's Favorite® and paying via your iAnkleBracletTM, today?"

Why would I pay with an iwatch, if I have my phone in my hand?
Seriously, how many people do not have a phone in their hands these days? Look around you! The iwatch is useless.

People don't understand the purpose of smartwatches. They are NOT a replacement for phones. They are an enhancement. The smartwatch needs to be linked to the phone via Bluetooth. That means the smartwatch is useless without a phone (unless all you want is know the time).

I'm so sick of Apple. I wish the whole company died with Jobs.

It kind of did. The company had better ideas with Jobs still there.

My Samsung Galaxy S6 makes watches of any kind obsolete.

Yet Samsung has smartwatches based on the same Galaxy brand.

Even if I had that watch I'd still need to carry a phone because the call quality sucks.

The real purpose of these devices is notifications and similar quick utilities. The watch will tell you you have a phone call, but you can still answer with your phone just fine.

You lead and I'll watch you walk away.

It wasn't clear the original post was a joke. Now it is.

I wasn't meaning to be disingenuous, started out by saying 'Imagine it'.

The Apple Watch doesn't have a scanner or a camera. If NFC was used, then it's not “scanning”, but rather “tapping”.

My mistake. Will correct

So, what is this thread really about? About using Bitcoin with the Apple Watch? Or about health features of the Apple Watch? If it's the latter, then thread should be in the Off-topic section.

I'm working on something that would allow the watch to use bitcoin.  The second part of the post does not have to do with bitcoin, its about the possibilities of the heart rate monitor.  I'm not pumping the product, just concerned about the possible data collection of health information. (Can't confirm that this is even a problem but I assumed it was the case and made a hypothetical scenario for abuse)  I'm curious if anyone else has made the same observation about the heart rate monitor and has concerns with the abuse of data collection.

May be you sent using NFC services from your iwatch ? This is quite amazing that you can do everything just with iwatch. Wink If your iwatch came with NFC function.  Cheesy

Full disclosure, I just got back from the future where everyone is transacting btc using smart watches.  This capability was given the green light by President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho, porn star and five-time ultimate smackdown wrestling champion.

It wasn't clear the original post was a joke. Now it is.

Why would it be a leap for the watch to be able to do this?

It's not a leap. Most internet devices can be expected to eventually handle Bitcoin transactions. The problem is, you stated it as if the watch already had the function (which no, there's no app yet), and you said that you “scan send address”... how? The Apple Watch doesn't have a scanner or a camera. If NFC was used, then it's not “scanning”, but rather “tapping”.

I'm not rushing out to buy one just yet, but I was curious if anyone had the inside scoop of the capabilities of the heart rate monitor.  Like what else can it do.

Anything that promotes digital payments promotes Bitcoin.

Why would it be a leap for the watch to be able to do this? It is not a stand alone device, its connected to your phone.  If you had a few lines of code in the ios wallet app that could relay the send address that your phone receives to the watch, and then the watch sends the transaction info back to you phone its possible.

Please explain?

How did you "scan the send address"?

I don't think the iWatch has a camera, or a laser scanner.

nice catch Wink maybe that person has very limited edition of iWatch or maybe he is only one that have that kind of iWatch who make scan through wifi waves Roll Eyes it looking apple fan..
