I saw a post from Jet Cash about this some time ago (I will not be able to find it now, sorry Jet Cash), and his post made me think about my English writing skills, as English is not my mother language.

I decided to post this as I see many users trying to post outside their local boards, and they struggle with English and I can barely understand what they are trying to say.

In my research, I discovered three free tools that help me while I am writing my posts. I am improving my English writing skills in this forum (at least I hope so, if they are not improving they are getting worse lol).

  • Grammarly add-on for Firefox (there is one version for the sneaking Google Chrome browser too) – This add-on is pretty good. It is better than browser native dictionary, as it will make good suggestions that go beyond spelling mistakes. The main problem with this add-on is that the full version is not free.
  • Pro Writing Aid This is the one I use the most, as the free version of Grammarly is pretty basic, and this version is more complete. The inconvenient is that you have to paste your post in that website, make the corrections, and paste it again in the bitcointalk forum.
  • Microsoft Word. Microsoft word is much better than the browser native dictionary, as it will make corrections beyond spelling too. I was impressed how English support is better than Portuguese support in Microsoft Word.
  • Google Translator – I do not like to use it, but it is simple and sometime I just need to find one or two missing words.

I think it’s worth using at least one of these tools when you are making a big comment and you are not a native speaker. I hope that helps you.
