I was once an avid movie goer, but has limited my hobby to quite an extent after I got involved in Bitcoin. Even before I got to know about Bitcoin, I was an addictive torrenter (uploader and downloader of movies, TV Shows, comics) and was managing a torrent site as well. At times I even go to theatre, record movies through a cam and upload them in popular torrent websites  Tongue This was an addictive hobby for me right from my childhood and hence I do own 15 TB data of hard disk loaded with movies, TV Shows and Comics  Cheesy

I am a great fan of Star Wars movies (excluding The Last Jedi and The Phantom Menace) and novels and apart from that I do have a major interest in DC movies too. I have seen 3 of the above mentioned movies (The Irishman only for Martin Scorsese, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood for 'Dicaprio and Tarantino' and Joker since it was a DC movie). I feel that Joker was a celebration of comic book character with its own origin story and had a very dark approach towards the character. For most of the time, I prefer watching Dark movies like Joker and BvS rather than going for Justice League.

Though the new Disney takeover of Star Wars was not really successful except Rogue One, we still have 'not bad' hopes on 'The Rise of Skywalker'. They are the culmination of 40 year old saga which puts a definitive end to the Skywalker era!

But which among the movies listed in the OP do you think will win?

I didn't see all the other movies but I did watched Joker and I picked it among the nominees in your poll and I must say Joaquin deliver a great acting here my all time joker favorite is Heath Ledger and if he is alive he might dot his role, but Joaquin Phoenix deliver what is needed for this kind of role as JOKER, hopefully he wins but I still have to see the other nominees.

Joker of course.
It is the movie which created a huge buzz around its name and the one that it was most seen by people. Apart from that, the first actor playing Joker made an amazing performance (he might win an Oscar as well).

I would like to see the JOKER win and I hope it does after reading about Joaquin Phoenix's eating disorder

It was masterful performance but I did not watch those other ones so they might be more deserving.

Btw, it is said, that Ford v Ferrari (that will be out November 15) has high chances of getting an Oscar for the Best picture also. Or at least Bale and Damon will make a good competition for Joaquin Phoenix.

What do you think guys?
If the movie would touch the heart of its audience then it might be nominated as to compete for the best pictures. For now, Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker is leading the way as the best picture for his movie and possibly Joaquin might get the Oscar award.
People will have to decide first for this new upcoming movies if they would pass as one of the nominee for the best picture award.

Jojo Rabit is an amazing film, I'm amazed at the idea of the film
they were able to make the idiot version of Hitler very well
I'm sure Jojo will win the Oscar for the best picture category in 2020.

there are some movies that I haven't watched like Waves and Joker
I see a lot of people who support Joker movies, maybe if I have free time I will watch the film.

I don't understand why so many people think that Joker will 100% win this one.
its because of the title joker  . who would not recognize joker ? if they dont watch the film , they still know who is that joker but joker involved on many good and succesful movies , thats why  .

The films which win these awards are usually the ones that don't rake in the big bucks and contain some serious content and this has been the case always.
oh ? some yes but i think the award is different from the box office movies   .

meanwhile my vote will also count for the joker but im not 100 percent sure if it will win this  time   . im just predicting here

I only watched Joker on this, and not being biased but I'm confident Joker has the best picture and they have a higher chance to take home this prestigious award next year.

The Irishman qualifies according to these criteria which is why it has a bigger chance at winning here. If popularity and box office collections were taken into consideration, Joker would win by a big margin and Endgame would win by an even bigger margin.

I’m not sure with the other movies because as far as I know they are not available in my country aside from Joker which I think is a good movie that tells a lot of story. I just recently watch Maleficent and read some news that they exceeded Joker in terms of profit and for me they also have the best picture to look for, for now if I’m going to choose, I’ll go for Joker.
Joker is better than Maleficent in terms of the graphics and the picture on the movies, I'm not sure if this is the final list for the catergory of Best Picture in Oscar but let's see if Maleficent will be able to get on the list. Is the audience impact a factor greatly considered on picking the winner receiving the Oscar's or thr jury only based on the structure of the movie itself? Because if it does then the poll is over, it would be Joker for the win Smiley. I like this movie because it was so depressing. I mean the director of it effectively shown how Joaquin shifted from best to worst version of himself, I really love it.

I believe there's a carefully selected jury to judge which movie wins. So all of the movies' sales, popularity, and buzz won't matter in the deliberation. Regardless, I still think Joker is a strong contender, and so is The Irishman and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Other than the Joker, I'm yet to watch the other movies on the list. I'm curios about The Irishman.

It's been a while since I last watch the Oscars but I can say that it's not a popularity contest. Some winners in the past were not exactly the favorite among movie "reviewers".

I hope this year's nominees will be able to match up with last year's winner Green Book and contenders Bohemian Rhapsody & A Star Is Born. Those were really good movies.

I'm not sure that Jokes will get the Oscar for the Best Picture, but Joaquin Phoenix sure will get an Oscap. Cant see who can compete with his performance this year.

For me, Joker. it has changed the test of a comedy movie so it must deserve an oscar this year, Which things are not here, it's a compact movie for me to watch, I think it should go to all category oscar like the Best picture along with Best Sound mixing, also it deserves the best Sound editing category, the most important thing is that Joker is going get an oscar on the costume design, undoubtedly this is going to happen, I also think Todd Phillips is going to get the best director in this year, Overall comparison to with other movies, this year is just for Joke, at least 5 category award goes to this Film for sure.

I'm not quite familiar with the criteria on choosing the best picture. I've searched some here but I'm not very much a technical person when in comes to movies so I didn't understand it well.

Anyway, I can only base my judgement on the movies I have watched (in the trailer) which are Once upon a Time in Hollywood and Joker. And depending on what I feel, the former is really star-studded, and entertaining. The latter, on the other hand, can be so affecting. You know, from good to bad version of oneself. I mean, I'm interested to see the whole story behind both movies. But for now, I'm gonna go with Joker.

The majority is agreeing about Joker and it's undeniable that the movies was fantastic. And even outside the forum, I always see those satisfied people who have watched the movie.

The management of AA will have their own basis on what movie shall be awarded the best picture. We're all sharing the same opinion about Joker and hopefully that it will actually get the award because base on everyone's perspective, they deserve it.
