I think short nature of eSports may have been affecting this as well. I guess competitive csgo matches don't last more than 50 minutes. I guess average League of Legends match is like only 30 minutes or something... Competitive probably not more than 40? Valorant isn't that different its competitive matches are still short average 30-40 minutes. Far easier to put wager on, learn, get used to. And I think most of developers try to make competitive matches around 30 minutes. Its very soft spot.

I have tried betting in eSports twice but never had the luck to win yet.
CS:Go is where I am mostly at since I understand it more than other games back when I play it when I am still young, I am actually good at it when I got addicted to computer games but now I get easily dizzy playing it.  Cheesy Sometimes I do watch NBA2k too but all of this when the real NBA is only at rest, like now.
But what you said is true, sports bettors especially when the games they usually watch are on hiatus, tend to fall into electronic games instead of playing casino games which we all know is not a good choice when winning is your focus. The house will always win in casino games but when it comes to sports we have the option of analytical review to increase the winning percentage.

I guess you can also attribute that it's easier to learn video games and esports compared to traditional sports. It's way easier to be in the game and know the game when you also play the game, hence why more and more people are slowly transitioning towards eSports betting. There are also multiple tournaments being held for different games at a given time in short intervals, too, so it's way easier to look for something to bet on eSports compared to traditional sports.

I agree, learning to play a video game well is much easier than go play a physical sport at a good level. You constantly need to be in shape, only eat healthy and work out a lot. In gaming you are sitting comfortable at home and can have a snack aside. The gaming industry was one of the fastest growing sector over the last 10 years and a lot of young adults keep gaming today. That's what is one the most attractive points to also gamble on Esports. If you play the game yourself there is more interest in watching the professionals play and also you have more knowledge about the game and leagues which gives us an advantage to bet on the games. Especially during big tournament I like to bet on Dota abs CSGO games as I still play both games today.

1. Multitude of betting options

Players like options, and eSports gives you options. Not only do you get way more options than if you bet on NBA, MLB, or NFL, but the options are present every day.

For example, on May 11, 2023, a Thursday, 52 eSports matches across various games occurred. That’s 52 separate options on a single Thursday.

At times, sports bettors can wager on over 100 separate Esports options. The more options the better because more options means Esports handicappers can pick and choose the matches they wish to play.
You are right that Esport has a lot of betting options for every existing tournament and in this era, the development of Esport has grown rapidly so that there are several international tournaments that are actually participated in by big countries from the world's judges.
After all, the hobby of Esport is not only for children and also teenagers, but also many adults who like Esport for their hobbies and entertainment.
Esport betting is also one of the choices because it is easier to predict and can also be seen only from the playing history and skills of the Esport team itself.

2. Esports odds are fairer than traditional sports

Esports odds are almost always more fair than traditional sports. The reason? Oddsmakers set lines determined to get the same amount of money on both sides.

Although that’s also true for eSports, public money, the dollars bet from casual weekend players, doesn’t affect odds as much. So when you see an eSports line you can be reassured it’s as close to a fair line as possible.
It's not a matter of whether it's fair or not, but in Esport betting we can have higher Odds from every betting option we choose.
Moreover, in Esport when in International tournaments we can avoid manipulation of wins because Esport tournaments provide huge prizes for the winning team so that each team can play seriously to be at the top rank.

OP, your forum thread looks like some article, which is promoting e-sports betting. Grin
I don't really think that most of the sports bettors are "attracted" to e-sports betting. Traditional sports betting will still dominate the gambling world for years.
The e-sports industry will grow for sure, but I highly doubt that e-sports betting will become more popular than traditional sports betting.
Can you somehow prove your claims that the odds on e-sports betting are fairer than traditional sports betting odds?
I have the feeling that this is a bold statement.

Predictions about e-sports can be said to be a little easier than other sports such as football or basketball, especially if we really follow the current development of esports.
I'm not an e-Sports bettor, so I don't know that it's easier than traditional sports betting, but maybe it's easy or not, depending on the preferences of each person who is used to following e-Sports well, they will definitely be able to understand more than those who don't follow it, and I see that it is indeed a widely available bet at many bookmakers so the fans are really big. But because you said it was easier, I intend to start following it and betting if I can understand more about e-Sports.
And also understand that betting on any type of bet is not guaranteed to win because if there is then everything that is used to betting on traditional sports betting will move because it is like a reliable place to double money.

This indeed sounds fun having more options to place your bet on. However, you really need to have broad knowledge about the game and the teams that are participating in a tournament, otherwise you'll end up placing a bet at wrong odd.
eSports with the likes of Dota2 or other similar games is kind of a little complex game to understand. Though not as hard when you know how to play Dota2, but some of the other similar games tends to have different set of characters and skills. That's what makes it a little hard to analyse the match up. Whereas, those FPS games like counter strike or call of duty are far more easier to understand than the rest of the online games.

The first reason still depends on the providers, most crypto sportsbooks have been offering a lot of esports, but sometimes it's annoying that you have to wait because not all sportsbooks update their odds ahead of time.

In some esports leagues, there is big money coming in, but at the same time, there are teams that are bleeding money, for example in the Overwatch League Chengdu Hunters left the league and in the LCS (NA LoL) CLG was forced to sell their team to NRG. The state of esports since last year is becoming less profitable, and its growth is steadily slowing down now that we're starting to see a few teams back out of the competitive scene.

2. Esports odds are fairer than traditional sports Huh

We cant really say that because match fixing is still existing on esports and we do have several some known match fixing.
https://clutchpoints.com/5-most-infamous-esports-scandals-in-history
https://topgamersguide.com/worst-match-fixing-ever-in-esports/

There's no exemption about match fixing whether we are talking about physical sports or esports there's no difference.
Thing here is that there's a specific market on each criteria or category because not all would really be that interested on a certain sport
and would be sticking into traditional but there are ones who are interested on both just like me.  Smiley

One main reason I guess is familiarity. Sportsbettors are still a normal being who are playing games in particular with esports  as they grow up. Esports is an interest to many youngsters out there to both male and female individuals. Graphics, contents and variation is attractive no doubt. Also, it is as profitable as with sportsbetting. As entertaining as well, especially if it fits your interest. There's no direct correlation between sportsbettor and esports bettor but it just happened that most of us have experienced playing some of the games in our computer and phones which are now being developed to be more competitive.

Predictions about e-sports can be said to be a little easier than other sports such as football or basketball, especially if we really follow the current development of esports.
Even though not all of them are 100 per cent correct in terms of predictions because matches sometimes have unpredictable but I find it easier to make predictions in e-sports than other sports.
I happen to like games and currently I like moba and fps for some existing and big games today, on the other hand I am also quite following the development of the players and some matches that often take place in competitions so that with this I am easier to predict when 2 teams play in e-sport.
I pretty much agree with what you said but in some conditions there may be some things I disagree with but that's only a small part.
Nowadays many esports are even used as odds although this is still not really seen by some big sites but now there are some that provide odds in this competition and I also often follow the bets there.

just like the regular sports, if you are a follower of some of these esports, it would be easier for you to bet. being familiar in the first place is the basic factor in being comfortable with your bets. and for sure, a lot of these players are also long-time players of these esports. so if you happen to follow them even before e-sports betting come into place, you would surely enjoy betting on this game.
Agreed, long term followers were the people who are much into eSports betting. I don't think much of the sports betting people will get into eSports betting leaving the comfort of sports betting. To understand the leagues itself it takes time and this needs more dedication and not many get interested into watching it compared to soccer or other matches.

I don't request loans~
There are only 4 though, and no I don't count whatever continuation is in your article, just include the damn 5 as you've said in your title.

On another note do people really find it looking at the money side of things to bet on the sports they want? I mostly like eSports because I play them in the first place, and really, once you get into one game, getting into the next is rather easy. I learned and played Dota 1 in the past (which was hard in the itemization part for people who played it before), so playing the next games like League, and Dota 2 was a lot easier on that part. FPS games are almost basically the same, the niche strategies for each character/map just change. I reckon that's why it's really inviting for new people to see.

3. More and more eSports are creating leagues

Call of Duty, the highest-selling video game brand in history, launched their league in 2020. Since then, the CoD League has blown up.

Riot Games, the creators of League of Legends, launched the Valorant Champions Tour in 2021. Nowadays, it’s almost a given that if you develop a first-person shooter or strategy game that involves multiple players, you must also think of branching into a league.

4. There’s big money behind the biggest eSports

Robert Kraft, the New England Patriots owner, purchased a majority share of Boston Uprising, a team in the Overwatch League. More big time owners came on board just this year, 2023.

Big money is behind Call of Duty. Kia use to sponsor DWG Kia, the top League of Legends team in the world.

When big money is involved, the sport isn’t going anywhere. The fact leagues have attracted big dollars and it’s not just for a single eSport, means the Esports industry is only going to get larger and become more of a sports betting force.

A lot of gamblers are becoming more attracted to eSports because it's an area where bookmakers might currently have less advantage. They rely on large datasets, but these are fairly static and readable by average people placing bets as well, plus there is more information in the domain (like watching people stream live before the upcoming event) which might show whether they are on form. Especially when new games break on to the scene, there can be a complete lack of data for companies, which is often why you mainly see older games in established sportbooks. They are definitely interesting bets to make, especially when their are lulls in other sports competitions like the end of the football season.

On the contrary. Most traditional sports employ linear gameplay and it all really ties up to the player’s skill and how they can make the most out of these pre-set rules and mechanics. Videogames on the other hand are balanced to a T, plus the variety it carries especially in eSports games like valorant or league of legends is a double-edged sword considering it provides you with a plethora of options for gameplay but at the same time requires you to be inherently skillfull to the game. This makes videogames easier to pick up but harder to master. While I would agree with the notion that it’s easier to cater to eSports since it’s virtually accessible unlike trad sports where you oftentimes have to visit the stadiums to watch it live, videogames are just way more difficult and thus could not be counted as a reason for why people bet on eSports.
