I don't really mind doing the extra steps since I've become used to it.

BPIP extension allows to quote a message from a locked topic, it could be done on all topics, locked or not.
I downloaded the extension to try it out but "Copied to clipboard" only shows if the thread has been locked. the extra features are really neat tho.

You can suggest it for the new forum software, Epochtalk, there New forum software child board.
I'd love to but even I who created a thread regarding it feels that it is too trivial to be even considered. anyway, thanks for the suggestion.

I find your lack of faith in Bitcoin disturbing.

This problem has happened to me from time to time. You can always manage by opening a second tab as the others have said.
But for the lazy ones, there may be a solution to propose to BPIP (if not already done). BPIP extension allows to quote a message from a locked topic, it could be done on all topics, locked or not.

Now we can do like this :
1-Open a second tab
2-Quote the concerned post
3-Select the concerned post
4-Copy the message
5-Switch tab
6-Paste the message where you reply
7-Switch tab
8-Back
[repeat actions 2 to 8 as many times as you want to quote a message]
9-Post

With BPIP for lazy people :
1-Open a second tab
2-Click on 'Quote to clipboard' on the concerned post
3-Switch tab
4-Paste the message where you reply
5-Switch tab
[repeat actions 2 to 5 as many times as you want to quote a message]
6- Post

The difference is not so obvious, but it would prevent the select and copy/paste problems.

I don't mind opening another tab when quoting a post from more than 2 people on the same thread but I thought wouldn't it be easier to just make all the previous posts visible on the topic summary so people can just click "Insert quote" when they want to quote more than 2 people on that thread. I know it is trivial but I was just curious.

For this SMF forum, I am not sure but it probably is impossible or hard to implement.

Other reasons, it is not common when you need to reply to more than 3 posts from 3 users. Because of this, manually open a new tab and copy one quote to combine with one or two others, for your own reply.

I see it is not actually inconvenient.

I am not sure if this has been asked before but is there a way to increase the number of posts that can be seen on "topic summary" that can be quoted when posting on a thread?
