"Tornado Cash uses @chainalysis
oracle contract to block OFAC sanctioned addresses from accessing the dapp.
Maintaining financial privacy is essential to preserving our freedom, however, it should not come at the cost of non-compliance."

Never heard or tried this one but looks decent but I'm just curious about the tx fee. Privacy is one of the issue of we have in cryptocurrency and I think this could be a good alternative but there are also some good alternative such as selling ethereum for other currency I think there are some services that allows us to exchange one currency to another without logging in or KYC but I think they can't handle big transactions.

If I was involved in crime, I would not bet on only 1 project. Even if the protocol is secure, there are many other ways to find the right traces of a scammer. I would exchange the received ethereum for monero and use another mixer. But for personal privacy, this is a great project.
So you mean either the tornado owner gave up details still the address couldny possibly be a way to trace the scammer since they could use another mixer or already did a mixer prior to using tornado cash? Anyway thats absurd. Im sure there are ways like the address used sending tokens to somewhere comnected such as exchange right? But actually this is a very sensitive case cause might the address falls on other guys who are innocent and only been used to show.

I think that the intention behind why tornado cash was created in the first place is good, however, just like many other things it is being taken advantage and used for illicit things. I just hope that there could be processes and protocols when it comes to transactions being suspect under scam activities, without breaking the privacy rights and terms of users of course.

It's the first time I have heard of it, but I'm not surprised that there's something like that for the Ethereum network. It's about time, probably for that to happen. I'm not sure how much it is being used because I know many hacks and scams are being done with different tokens, etc. It's the go-to thing for scammers for sure.

Tornado Cash Co-Founder Says the Mixer Protocol Is Unstoppable
Roman Semenov says Tornado Cash is designed so a third-party can’t control it.
Btw, is there anyway the owners of tornado cash, can track those wallets that has been sent to them. For example there is a confirmed scammer who exploited funds used their services. Is there a chance they could turn over the resulting wallets to authority to help the victims of the exploited community or its not possible even with the owner. It seems theu could help as lonh as they give details of the users wallet.

Probably works like btc in chipmixer. I never tried it yet but seen a lot of youtubes tutorials about using it. Works simply to hide their transactions and become totally anonymous. This is the favorite dapp probably of all scammers who doing rug pull and some scam projects.

But surprisingly that their tokens has been used and listed even on Binance.
I wanted to test their service but ran into a problem... my emails are not reaching them.

So I think everyone should refrain from using Tornado Cash for a while.  Lips sealed

Tornado Cash is one of the best services.

Anyone heard of this? (https://tornado.cash/)

It's supposed to be a Ethereum privacy mixer, I haven't try it, so for those who have used it already, can you share your experience with this application?

They supposedly used zkSNARK ((Zero-Knowledge Succinct Non-Interactive Argument of Knowledge,) technology).

Tornado Cash has deployed the beta version of the Nova pool, now it is possible to deposit and withdraw arbitrary amounts of ETH, currently the beta version limits the transfer amount to 1 ETH, the minimum withdrawal amount judging by the site data is 0.1 ETH.

ICO defi scammers are using Tornado to steal fund raised, I read it makes them anonymous. The anonymity is good but if one can't always trace criminals, it becomes a very big issue to the socity.

You can say that to bitcoin mixer as well, wherein criminals can used it to hide their footprints.

I think those mixers are for privacy and anonymity, it' just it is being taken advantage by scammers and/or criminals, terrorists, drug peddlers.

As for this Tornado Cash, I'm sorry I'm not familiar and base on the response, it is not well known in this community. But it's good if we have this kind of Ethereum mixer though, I think many tried to built one in the past, but it was not successful.
tornado cash is already a protocol and is being used for anonymity on the ethereum network. It looks pretty new to all of us, but it does exist and has 5,000 followers on their twitter page: https://twitter.com/tornadocash
This is their website: https://tornado.cash/

There's a big difference between anonymity and privacy. As we move more towards regulation we can expect the shift more towards privacy and away from anonymity.

It is a mixer that keeps ethereum users anonymous on strong ethereum. Recently the YBDAO project has raised 7500ETH and they have submitted an unannounced Tornado Cash. It was a scam project and they were safe with the money they raised. I think this is an illusion like the way that mixers help bad guys use bitcoin for illegal activities.
