This "pause" incident has huge repercussions, above and beyond just the folks getting hit on this exchange.

Do we want to make bitcoins look like the fisher price toy of currency or what Huh

Really total BS when it takes the price from $14 on TH and near $14 on Gox and trashes by $2 in 2 mins all from paused trades, not trades based on real time price moves.

Has anything coming out of Mt.Gox in the last few weeks NOT been total bullshit?

From $14 to $12.75, post pause... wtf?

Yes. Honestly, wtf?

Someone explain.

Someone put in a big order. It pushed the prices pretty high. A bunch of sellers think $13 is way better than the $11 they just paid and sell. We are going to bounce for a good while. Probably land in the middle.

OK, the GOX Pause either stopped a surge, a possible rally even.... or it was a pre-destined fall back.

Day trading momentum being so fickle, I opt for the former.

I wish I was there to see MK's face waking him up

I wouldn't mind waking at 6 a.m. once and a while if I was making five thousand bucks a day.

While following the #mtgox IRC channel, I remember a discussion about a circuit breaker that was put in place to help prevent a repeat of the plummet to $0.01.  If a large order or swing was detected (don't remember the exact details), trading would be automatically halted until it could be manually reviewed.  My guess is that this circuit breaker triggered and MT just had to review it and turn trading back on.  Just a possibility.

Price needed as much help as possible to have a chance at breaching 14.2, which is a super key level, and now just lol.

That matches the order book - almost no bids. Yet the price was going up to 14 at that point, which is backwards.

Well, the bids are at 11$/BTC. The graph only displays down to 12.0 Wink

There was definitely a huge gap between the bid and ask sides, from 11 to 14. But is that a consequence of market action, Mt. Gox screwing up again, or what?
