Where is my ring of blades...
There is a difference between supporting Bitcoin and supporting the Blockchain. We saw R3 also supporting the Blockchain, and look what they are doing. They can just as easily,
chose to use any other Alt coin based on the Blockchain technology and then turn against Bitcoin, so I would not flip with happiness if I were you. The statement that Elon Musk made, does not neccesarilly mean that he supports Bitcoin, you have to remember that he had strong ties to PayPal. ^frown"

that is right and it is the first thing that came to my mind also. because history has shown that they are always talking about "blockchain" as a separate thing and never really support bitcoin.

but reading up on some of these news and what these people have said I can see they have also mentioned "bitcoin" and have been positive about it, not only talking about blockchain like the past and other people.

Well, that all sounds positive for bitcoin acceptance in the U.S. and even at the federal government level. I wonder what practical effect it will have though. Is there any sign of the Trump administration taking pro-active steps regarding cryptocurrency, either encouraging it or working to clear away red tape barriers to cryptocurrency-centric businesses?

Absolutely! There are no visible signs yet that Trump's administration will propose pro-Bitcoin legislation, but we can only hope! We will likely have to wait and see once Trump takes the oath of office in a few weeks.
i even think that trump pick them all randomly without know that they are bitcoin supporters Cheesy.

this may sounds good and if media play their role to start make a public opinion , a 'good public opinion' about how bitcoin will be in US under trump and his bitcoin congressman, it can bring more investor and boost the demand !

If anything, the media will put a negative spin on the fact Trump has cabinet members that are pro-Bitcoin. In any case, having these people on his cabinet is good news for bitcoin in general. While Trump will be focused on addressing problems and issues with higher priority at the moment, it's good to know he has people on his team who have some understanding of Bitcoin and its potential.
Media putting a negative spin on this will only result in a lot of bad things to be honest. And not bad for Bitcoin.

The US already knows that the mainstream media is untrustworthy and skewed; them saying "this is bad" runs contrary to the "Make America Wealthy Again" narrative running parallel to Trump, and would just garner more interest and support for Bitcoin.

The media is stuck between a rock and a hard place, the best they can do is keep quiet.

this is a very good news in the long run.
because there may even be a better set of rules for regulations for bitcoin and instead of businesses forced to exit US or even an state to other places there may even be more services and businesses starting up with bitcoin. and in the long run this will lead to lots more adoption and a lot higher bitcoin price.

I'm impressed by this choice, considering that Trump is planting a cabinet that is extremely business-based and has a lot of experience with making deals and so, this can turn out to be a very, very, very good thing to come out of all of the controversy.

Not sure what he will do as budget chief, but the fact that we have some pro-Bitcoin politicians in the US government now, there is tons of progress to be made.

Trump picks 'Bitcoin Congressman" Mulvaney for budget chief among others. Mulvaney has been a consistent Bitcoin proponent and while some do not agree with Trump's policy, his picks can do extreme good for Bitcoin.

https://mulvaney.house.gov/media-center/articles-op-eds/sc-republican-among-founders-congressional-bitcoin-caucus

Mulvaney,
"Blockchain technology has the potential to revolutionize the financial services industry, the U.S. economy, and the delivery of government services, and I am proud to be involved with this initiative on the ground floor." He also praised bitcoin as a currency that is "not manipulatable by any government."

Here are other Bitcoin proponents in Trump's movement,

Peter Thiel (Trump's advisory board), investor in Bitpay and vocal supporter of Bitcoin.

Elon Musk (Trump’s Strategic and Policy Forum), publicly said that Bitcoin is "probably a good thing"

Indra Nooyi (Trump’s Strategic and Policy Forum), publicly supported blockchain, called it "the technology that could profoundly impact the way we manage issues of trust, security and privacy for years to come"

Ginni Rometty (Trump’s Strategic and Policy Forum), a vocal advocate of blockchain: “The blockchain will do for transactions what the internet did for information.”

Musk said that bitcoin is "probably a good thing"?

I can only laugh.... Grin

Anyway, this might be good for bitcoins and the other cryptocurrencies.

This is just amazing news for the Bitcoin industry, despite all the negativity surrounding him, I was sure he would do some good. And what's better than having the people who support and like Bitcoin on his cabinet. I think the future of Bitcoins just got brighter, this shall draw masses to Bitcoin and who knows usa can finally accept Bitcoin as a currency and junk it's usd, though this is a far stretch of imagination but then it's trump you never may know.

Trump, a businessman has now got additional responsibility of politician. His way of governance will surely make a lot change in the economic situation. Sure this will be a good news for the Americans, sometimes the same might affect the other country users.

Let us not forget what the John Birch Society says:

According to its website, the John Birch Society believes that the Federal Reserve is unconstitutional and should be abolished and that "the only constitutional money is gold and silver coin."

Hahahaha I love that quote. It's basically:

"It's probably ok or shitty or fine or whatever, look at these cool solar roofs though..."

I wouldn't call that bitcoin support.

Trump is not just a politician and show man, he is a business man. And I'm sure that he or his experts are already saw bitcoin as the way to get money from and as the new progress in all world's economy.

This can only be a good thing & even if nothing happens for a couple of years having Mulvaney, a pro bitcoin guy will surely have a positive effect on bitcoin's chances of gaining mainstream adoption.

Only time will tell, but at least i fell like they will know what they talk about and are open to new ideas or ready to inform themselves. his is probably better then someone who knows nothing about Bitcoin and is not willing to learn new things. So even if they do not actively help the chances are good that they do not hinder it.

Non-interference is more than good enough.

Agreed. As long as we have a couple people in the Trump team who have some form of investment in Bitcoin business,
or at least an understanding of Blockchain technology,
they hopefully won't be passing laws trying to go after Bitcoin users or passing regulations that stop development.

Yeah, it sounds good, but the practical effect will be very small. But Bitcoin can live very well with that, because it just doesn't need political support. Non-interference is more than good enough.

If Bitcoin would need to rely on politics it would be pretty much worthless. Bitcoin is valuable exactly because it is quite resilient against political influence. That property of Bitcoin needs to be strengthened by improving privacy and security in all respects.

The Bitcoin community and developers in particular should focus on delivering the best possible technology and not - like Gavin Andresen - try to negotiate with the officialdom. So far, most Core developers are doing a great job here.
