Two solutions to a big Bitcoin problem(and other cryptocurrencies) where transaction commissions do not compensate for mining costs.
1 solution: each transaction by its commission(fee) participates in mining - more tx fee value.
2 solution: forgotten, lost, unnecessary coins after a certain period of time are returned back into circulation - more reward miners
