As you'll read the options with +1.5, +1, etc. are "spread" bets which are based on how much a team will win by. If you take Southhampton +1.5 and they lose 1-2 then you will "cover" and win the bet because their score (1) plus 1.5 equals 2.5 which is more than Liverpool's score of 2. If they were to lose 1-3 then you would not cover.

The "ML" bets are based on who will win outright. You can take either team, or you can bet on a draw. For example, if the final score is 2-2 "Draw" would win, and both "Liverpool ML" and "Southampton ML" would lose. If Liverpool wins 2-1 then "Liverpool ML" is a winner.

Over Under bets are based on the total number of goals by either team. If you take over 2.5 and the final score is 2-1 then you will win because the total number (3) is greater than 2.5.

Hi, stayeduptolate i know this is not the best place to post this but i think you are one of the best sports players, so would like to understand how to bet in sports, i dont understand some abreviations.

I know that 1.925 are the odds, what they will pay you if they win, but i dont understand what +1,+0.5 and +1.5 means.

then there are

over          2.5, 2 and 3
under         2.5, 2 and 3

What this means??

next one is Draw, its ok

and the final ones are

Southampton          ML 6.400
Liverpool                ML 1.584

This ones i think are the absolute bets , you are choosing who will win and the favorite is liverpool.

Tonight I am not really liking many of the games... but I am going to make one pick:

San Francisco Giants v New York Mets over 6.5 -113

They might not have the best bats, but they went 8-5 last night, and both pitchers have higher ERAs than their counterparts from yesterday.  Cain is at 4.24 and Harang is at 5.70, so I like my chances there.

Also like the Astros for an upset, and the Tigers over Seattle... but I am not betting on either of those.

Don't want to start telling sob stories... but, picked a nailed on treble on Saturday (Parlay as you guys call it) Arsenal, Tottenham, Fulham - 0.5 on a 2.64. Arsenal won 1-3, Tottenham won 2-0, Fulham were 1-0 until a 92nd minute equaliser - near crashed the car when I heard it on the radio!

Going out on a limb here - but picking Colon - in the Gimnasia La Plata vs. Colon de Santa Fe football game (refuse to call it soccer).

But both Gimnasia and Colon are locked mid table - 10th and 9th respectively.

Here's a write up from a good Argentinian football blog. He gives the nod to Gimnasia solely on home advantage - is that advantage worth 1.82 v 5.270?

Gimnasia's last match was a 2-1 defeat away to Atletico Rafaela, but they have the small consolation of not having picked up any suspensions or injuries during that match. They were unable to train on Monday due to a power failure at their training complex, putting a cap on an awful weekend.
Last weekend's 1-0 defeat away to Godoy Cruz brought to an end a run of three consecutive victories for Colon. Goalkeeper German Montoya had to be substituted during the first half, but should be fit to play here, whilst assuming Ronald Raldes returns without problems from Bolivia's World Cup qualifiers, Bruno Urribarri will have to sit out his delayed suspension.

Of the promoted sides, Gimnasia have made the best start, and were in sixth place at the start of this weekend, level on points with their visitors here. They've built that on good home form – two wins and a draw from their three home matches so far. That should give them hope of bouncing back from last weekend's defeat away to Rafaela.
Colon are also unbeaten at home, but like their opponents here have lost twice in three away matches, and they will of course be the away side in this match. They were so poor last week that they didn't manage to get a single shot on target, even though all five of their shots were from inside the penalty box. They've failed to score in two of their three away matches.
Gimnasia haven't won in three matches, but kept a clean sheet in the solitary home game of that run, and have only conceded once in home matches so far this season. Colon have struggled to keep clean sheets away, and although these sides otherwise have pretty similar records, I think that could mean Gimnasia's home advantage gives them the edge here. I'll go for a home win.'
