Looks like this project stopped because I never saw a link that leads to give and receive ethereum tips, and the tweet of the source is no longer available, maybe twitter is considering the other side for example avoiding countries that are still banned cryptocurrencies.

I was unable to find anything about tips through the desktop application. Only through the mobile app (both, Android and iOS), I can add my BTC and ETH address to receive tips. although from any other accounts I still don't have the option to share tips.
Brave browser has that possibility, tips in BAT. Maybe even twitter could look in that direction.

Really one of the coolest features I have seen them adding as of recent. I have been making use of it, but not Ethereum, I have been making use of Bitcoin address for the tips on the platform.

I have never really considered Ethereum, although the high gas fees issues has been fixed and the new update that is coming in will do better, but Bitcoin has been a better choice for me whenever I want to use cryptocurrency in receiving payment from anywhere. Twitter has really been rolling out features in support of cryptocurrency, they even added NFT features as of recent.

It would have been better if they implemented doge or litecoin instead. These coins have still cheap transaction fees and you don't have to use second layer stuff which is not as user friendly as the first layer solutions. Doge has been a main stream crypto for years. People should use it as a currency instead of trying to get rich from it imo.
You and I know very well that they are only going to select the cryptocurrencies that are very popular. Bitcoin and ethereum are the most popular cryptocurrencies there is, and that’s what most of the people are likely to be making use of, so that’s what they would add to their platform.

Dogecoin and the Litecoin are not really that popular, most people don’t even know about these coins, except Dutch coin that happened to have a bullish trend this year, but even at that nobody is really interested in Doge coin, except for those who just wants to hop on it and make money through it, because of trend.

Surely Ethereum is a one way forward step from Bitcoin and after that we all can assume more cryptos would follow. Similar to how most exchanges like coinbase started, with bitcoin first and a new popular alt now and than and a large number of them within few years. Similar could be the tipping scenario and they are using third party for the functions, it would be even more easier for them when the third party is handling a lot of options.

How dumb. I was literally laughing after reading the first comment. Damn, of all the things they can come up with to better twitter or all the better coin choices that are out there they really went on and chose Ethereum you just gotta wonder if they really are trying to better twitter or trying to sabotage it instead. Haha. Anyway, at least they're putting efforts though, better than doing nothing. Let's just appreciate the efforts, 🤣🤣🤣

Pay $200.00 in gas for a $1.00 ETH twit tip.

Who thinks up this nonsense?
https://etherscan.io/gastracker
Why did you decide that the commission will cost $200. Today, the commission for paying with Ethereum is about $3.When using tokens in smart contracts, the commission is high, but this is a regular payment in Ethereum coins.
Perhaps later, the ability to pay in Optimism, Arbitrum, Polygon and other L2 solutions will be added, where the payment will cost a few cents.

how correctly it was noticed here that the price of gas is now very high and no one will leave a tip under such conditions, there is no point in it.
This is exactly the moment when Ethereum was added for the sake of marketing, but not for the benefit of users.

Twitter have once again refreshed it's tipping feature with the addition of ethereum to it. Users need to enable the tipping feature and add an ethereum address. The Bitcoin tipping happens through lightning network. There is no much details regarding the ethereum tipping process. As of now this service is available on iOS and Android devices.
Not the best time for Twitter to add Ethereum to tip users, they will need to wait years to make use of that coins because of the much higher transactions, unless and until Twitter honor the withdrawal fees, then there is nothing much to worry but i doubt they will be taking the huge burden because the fees are crazy high. They should have done a better research before adding Ethereum for tipping  Cheesy.

they should just also implement tipping from the blockchain that are similar from ethereum honestly because the ridiculous fee that ethereum has, using blockchain like BSC and like matic makes a lot more sense.
I think this is just for testing out the features that they have in regards of tipping, in the future I guess they just gonna be adding more and more cryptocurrencies specifically the ones that are more or less the same interface like ethereum basically those second layer platforms. anyone here have said that using ethereum for tipping is rather ridiculous, and that’s true, if they also allows ERC20 tipping, this gonna be even more ridiculous or this feature that twitter offers itself is just a gimmick because it has zero practicality at this moment around.

this is very useless and not great news. twitter seems not aware of the current ethereum issue. they don't seem to see the GAS fee on the ethereum network to be one of the most expensive. this is stupid news for me LOL....

First they introduce Ethereum to twitter community. Then they wait till people get used to it and implement NFT in Twitter. Sooner or later NFT will appear in twitter. I dont believe that people in Twitter are so stupid to add a blockchain with most expensive transactions to let users send small amounts. Maybe their next step will be releasing twitter tokens instead of NFT. I dont know. But adding ETH to tipping system sure has passed brainstorming and it is no a useless strategical move by Twitter.

Lolz, I am so behind of everything. I did not even know that there exists such feature? What is the history behind this and whats the use. I mean why the hell I would go on the twitter and spend my tip on something as rubbish as lets say Elon manipulating tweets.  Grin

If they really want to care about the twitter community then they need to add some good features along with it. Just having tip button means nothing. Its kinda started feeling like "STEEMIT" blog where different users would come and up vote the liked post and in return they used to get the power up or STEEMS / SBD.

However, Twitter does not seem to be promoting it in commercial aspect, so not sure how successful it is?

Just at the wrong time but perhaps Twitter is just preparing it for the future. No one is forced to tip with high fees but when everything gets smooth again with the Ethereum chain then who knows if this will be one of the trends.
I like the idea to avoid Twitter becoming a diary of known personalities. Like, even in the comfort room they will need to tell everyone what they are doing.  Grin Something helpful will be written like for me, sports analysts will get some extra income by just sharing what's new about sports or game outcomes.
I won't jump to conclusions yet.

I kinda feel doubt if twitter will be using ethereum for tipping on twitter. We will see how long ethereum will be used by twitter for tipping purpose while im sure that mostly of people will be using bitcoin instead of ethereum. i hope that twitter will think for the twice before try to add ethereum on its crypto tipping feature. Someone who will be sending small amounts of tip will be useless caused by this receiver can't also take the money. I think that a new observation is needed by twitter in this case instead of using the most expensive blockchain for tipping purpose. I just wanna know who will be paying the non sense fees to give a tip to others.

While I understand that the Ethereum network's high transaction price is a major issue when it comes to tipping, you can use BTC (BTC)[1] instead. As far as I'm aware, Twitter has enabled the use of Strike[2] wallet for tipping other users via Lightning Network, which is extremely convenient for instant and low transaction fees. The only drawback I can think of is that Strike wallet is a custodial wallet that is only accessible in a few countries and is subject for KYC as well as asset freezing due to its centralized nature.

Again, it could be extremely problematic for now but implementing other alternative like ETH is still a good stepping stone in crypto space.

LOL im also think about this too. Im sure that none will be using ethereum for tipping if the transaction will be done onchain and it's not using the hot wallet mechanism like cex that makes you able to send to the another account in the same platform for free. This is totally a non sense thing to be implemented the average transaction is so expensive and how can people use this feature?
Im sure that if no one will be using this feature.

I am sure no one will use tiping feature through ethereum chain but the good thing is that it will create awareness amoung many new users about bitcoin, ethereum and overall cryptocurrencies. Once ethereum gas fee issue is resolved, it will be better to use ethereum chain for tipping purpose, rather than bitcoin.

Do you think twiiter will integrate solana and other faster chains too for tiping ?

As many have already mentioned, the gas fees are the problem with that. Currently not viable to tip someone while paying more for the gas fee.
I think it would have been better if Twitter have chosen Layer 2 coins like MATIC or Arbitrum as they are known to have cheap transaction fees. Still, this is a good way to gain more exposure for Ethereum though. Pretty sure, sooner or later ERC20 tokens and maybe even NFTs will be included as well.
