DENT is a new project that has a huge potential because they will disrupt the data cell phone industry check their ANN or Twitter account.

Yeah another ICO.... He asked for a "store of value" and in my opinion it is better to stay away from ICOs, because ICOs can be pure gamble, they are riskier than putting your money into bitcoin for instance.. For a store of value you want to search for some coin that is in a game for a decent amount of time and that has proven that it can be good to put your money in with huge support. Of course even bitcoin and all crypto currencies can dump to 0$ but still in my opinion ICOs are pure gamble and for a store of value you need to look at coins like dash, litecoin, bitcoin even maybe xmr and ethereum.

Monero as long term store of value. Pretty stable price with upward potential. It is an privacy protected store of value with increasing adoption and several game changing updates (Kovri, Multisig, Lightwallets) coming in the very next time. The XMR community is the largest after BTC and ETH.

How about coins that people are actually using as money, like doge and litecoin?  How about peercoin and namecoin?  How about Dash?

Most of the ones listed so far are extremely speculative, and OP's question here is about long term value storage.  Kinda like gold, right?  Those coins are like investing in palladium or some other exotic metal.  Too much risk.

How long is long term?

For indefinite amount of years then I would only trust Litecoin, that still is around for all those years. Only other coin almost as old as LTC that I know is doge, but I would not trust doge for long term of course

I wish someone buys a big chunk of Doge n throw it away. Too many coins in the market and very little development. Left Doge long ago because of this.

To OP: I would go for litecoin and Monero.
Litecoin for obvious reasons, it's a wonderful coin and still undervalued. I think lots of businesses trying to adapt Monero and I see potential in it.

What is your number two and three crypto currency behind Bitcoin to store value in the long term?

I mean to really store value not using a coin which could be used to run smart contracts or something else (Ethereum).

1. Bitcoin
2. Huh
3. Huh

2.Litecoin
3.Ark

Store of value:
1. fundamentally stable
2. low inflation rate

Thus, ETH is not a store of value.

Its not stable:
1. Big source code with many more bugs than Bitcoin.
2. It is the driver of the ICO bubble that could finally burst hard which could also hit ETH itself hard.
3. Blockchain growing at a crazy speed and growth speed will even increase much much more if only a few ICOs deliver.   This is not sustainable forever.

It inflates too much:
Imagine the burst of the ICO bubble leads to a bear market but ETH market cap finally recovers after 5 years. Then one still lost 50% of value thanks to 100% inflation.

A store of value by definition has to preserve its value in the long term.

If you are smart, this is not the time to invest in ethereum, because I think ethereum has touched the number close to maximal. If you invest in ethereum maybe you will have a loss! My suggestion is better to plant stake in xrp or str. thank you

Lisk
Bancor

Bancor? Did you even do the math on that bro.

Litecoin, Ethereum, MAID is also a good choice, Monero if your feeling fruity.

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to"Non-custodial"
all of these are pumped up and high, if I want to store value I'd find something functional with a market cap so low I could buy most of it if the price dropped. So that's what I did and now I have like 2% of a coin with all my investment recouped. How that for storing value???

Maybe you should petition for a name change, since you are such a smartie pants?

Monero : privacy coin with nice community, it needs some light wallets tho

Litecoin : Litecoins main dev Charile Lee has come to work only on litecoin now which should be a good sign, bearing in mind that they have recently activated SegWit with no problems

Ethereum : to many people and companies are backing it up and also "smart contracts , new technology" , but I suggest you to read about ICOs and all as it could easily slip

Dash : dev team get the cut from miners mining, which is why they have money for marketing campaigns and thats why devs can work full time on it and pay everything else that is needed for this coin to succeed.

Do your own research and don't take advices from unknown persons on the internet for granted. If you ask me I'd split my investments between few coins because if some go down you still have a chance to earn some.

Main thing : Don't invest more than you could afford to lose.

Ethereum and dash should be the ones after bitcoin. Also, litecoin is a good one to hold long term as well.
