Does the type of game you play at a casino or sports you bet on show an individual's level of intelligence or how smart a person is?
Blackjack, Poker, slots, roulette, baccarat, sports betting, horse racing, betting on sociopolitical events, keno, etc.

I gamble and I choose to bet/play if I have knowledge of that particular game. Perhaps, it was our advantage over others and that will increase the chance of winning, aside from getting lucky. In fact, whatever you do whether it is gambling or not, never expect success if you don't have any idea of what you are doing. It is just like you going nowhere and you will never know what you gonna do next.

If you are gambling, should also spend time knowing about it. If you are in sports betting, be sure that you are also a fan of sports. The same thing applies to the other games.

IMO, intelligence brings an advantage to any field, and that includes gambling. The game that I'm exposed to is really, if you look at the risk/opportunity ratio, making appropriate decisions shows intelligence. But it's clear that the boundary between intelligence and gambling is often only a small one, because in the end, the people who create the product are always smarter than the players, just like we work for a company to get paid, and the boss is still the one who gives us that job.

With gambling, sometimes the confusion between finding fun and making money (some) is very complicated, and seeing many people become addicted and fail, I am aware that even if I learn a lot, No matter how far I go in this field, I still know that I am a fool. So it only brings a taste of joy to life, and I also don't want to taste the pain of gambling, and the fault still belongs to the individual first.

I don't think the games you played are correlated with the intelligence you have, but table games somewhat could influence the probability to win because you're the player. As long as you're not the player, every games are completely depends on luck. You can't control anyone in the field to play like you want except you're the coach.

Games won't really show how intelligent a person is and so it is not a measure of IQ. Some persons learn the more difficult games from the gambling father in the house, so whether they are intelligent or not won't matter because they have had the first hand learning process of the game from the home and that may turn out to be the persons most loved game as it is easier for him to understand against his friends who are even far intelligent more than him.

Another thing is interest and what game entertain you more. This is important because such game that entertain you tend attract you to learn it more. And in fact every game has it own ability to increase someone's intelligence. Of course games help build intelligence while you are also entertained.

That's not really a good way/method for measuring someone's intelligence because it's biased and bases the conclusion with baseless and non-scientific correlation. What I mean is that a mathematics professor might be playing slots when you consider that as a low-IQ gambling or a conventional definition of a dumbass is playing poker. Another problem with using games as a measure of intelligence is that some people that are considered by the society as a low-IQ are really good with the games that they're playing so when you consider those factors, you're going to end up with a lot of inaccuracies and inconsistencies which also wastes your time and will just make you look like an asshole because you're judging someone's intelligence based on what they're playing in a casino.

I think most poker players are intelligent. Well, that is required if you want to win then add some experience with it and I am sure you can be a champion in a poker tournament. IMO, poker doesn't rely too much on luck, although there's still a part of it that needs that luck, especially with the flop.
Then, there are sports gamblers. Being a fan of a sport means you memorized a lot of things. Players, teams, statistics, winning rates, trades, and more. You need to keep yourself updated with every movement that will happen because that could increase or decrease your chance of winning the bet.
There are those who just rely on the heavy favorite and that's also okay. A lot of different strategies can be used in sports betting and that's why I think it's also for those who put effort into what they do or intelligent ones with high accuracy at predicting the results of the game.
Casino games like dice don't require that. Keno too. It's purely based on luck.

When playing gambling, you don't need to be smart, because there are many people who win or get a jackpot in the casino who are not smart. Just try and participate to win or get lucky playing gambling. And then they were lucky; did they use intelligence so they hit the jackpot in the casino?

This means that winning at the casino can be achieved no matter what kind of gambler you are. If you are really lucky, you will win no matter what game you play.

Skill-based games with a high win rate prove that he is a smart player, but for games based on luck it is just pure luck, while in sports betting the win rate will prove whether he is a smart person or not, because differences in types of sports cannot be a reference because Every bettor has different sports preferences, and the deeper you follow a sport, the better you will be at analyzing a match, even though the results may be different because certain things happen to athletes or teams that we don't know about and that change the course of the match so that our analysis is wrong.

People's intelligence level cannot be determined by what type of gambling game they play.
There are many kinds of gambling games because everyone likes it, some like roulette, some like slots, some like soccer gambling, and so on.
It all depends on how much they like it, not how smart they are.

Moreover, the results of gambling cannot be guaranteed 100% no matter how clever a person predicts.
It all just depends on how well they manage the risk of the money at stake.

I don't think that a person's game preferences represent his intelligence, because the game preferences he chooses are based on his interests and suitability of the game to him. Like my friend, he is a senior dev, his intelligence is unquestionable, but the game he chooses is slots, it's not that he can't play blackjack, it's just because he prefers probability games that he can play in his free time and doesn't make his brain dizzy.

As long as it is not game that is regulated by system and has winning algorithm that is randomly set, such as slots, dice and roulette, it can be said to be type of bet that can be influenced by the level of gambler intelligence.
But some of the games I mentioned are games that rely more heavily on luck, not intelligence, all games that have random number algorithm with system that works in them can never be beaten using just intelligence alone, they really require luck.
Even though there are many gamblers who try to beat several games with intelligence based on creating strategies or playing methods, if it is game that relies on luck then all that intelligence or strategy will also be in vain.

Personally, I think blackjack, poker and sports betting are types of betting that really depend on person level of intelligence, where we can't just bet and play carelessly because these are basic types of skills.
For example, great gamblers always use their intelligence in analyzing and predicting sports betting, in poker games they will also play with intelligence in managing cards, as well as in blackjack.

It depends!

If the person playing the game wants to win money, then he will probably choose a game in which he has more skill, in which case he can be said to be smarter with numbers, mathematics and probabilities if he chooses a betting or dice game in which it is possible to predict some results.

However, if the person is just playing for fun, they may choose a slots game as they are more "interesting", but this does not necessarily mean that the person is less intelligent.

Choosing a game is more related to personal taste than intelligence.

Well, yes and no. Yes, because you can't play efficiently in a gambling game like blackjack, poker, or baccarat because this game requires critical thinking and skill because you need to think about whether you will use the cards or not. No, because in some games like slots and roulette, even if you still need to think before playing or betting on slots games, it depends on the probability, so if you have the probability to win, then you win, or it could be a yes if a person or gambler can calculate the probability of winning in a slot machine. In short, it depends on the person who gambles, because there are gamblers who win by using their mind and skills, but there are also gamblers who win because they have luck, so we can't determine if the person is smart or intelligent; maybe he or she is smart and intelligent but not in gambling.

Depends on the game itself, obviously if it is a luck base games then, there are no analysis whatsoever. For example, in roulette, if you pick a single number, there could be reasons like it could be your favorite numbers or other reasons. So there's no level of intelligence there and it doesn't shows how intelligent you are.

But perhaps in poker, it could be different though, and we have seen books usually by the players themselves regarding the strategies. Like how to read your opponents body movement and call their bluff.

And same with sports betting, some level of analysis should play a big role on what teams are you going to bet, also as a big fans of the sports as well as it taps on the passion of that particular sports.

I don't think so. It's about interest and which particular games make you feel more entertained. And I guess these don't signify level of intelligence. Even games which require a bit of strategy like poker or blackjack don't mean their players are more intelligent than those who play dice and slots, unless perhaps if you're specifically choosing blackjack, for example, because you are a math savant and that you intend to win by counting cards.

Any form of game that requires you to calculate your moves and the next step to take are games which requires the players intelligence, and how calculative the person is can determine how much they might be able to win in such game, that’s why they say those who are mathematical enlightened have a higher chance of winning in gambling that those who don’t know their left and right in gambling, those intellectual can also be regarded as skill.

As for games which don’t require you to do any calculation and your winning is dependent upon luck such games does not prove how intelligent someone is and their is no special skills needed for them to be played since the outcome of the game are always gotten from random generated results.

Anyone can play any games and select a possible result based on analysis or on nothing at all... Therefore, gambling is not necessarily related to intelligence. But of course, those who have a deeper level of understanding and knowledge about the game or bet they are going to wager, theoretically increase the chance of placing an accurate guess, especially in sociopolitical events, where the gambler has to know the subject of sociopolitics, while having sensibility to feel in what direction the thermometer of society is pointing out. I consider these elements inherent to an intelligent person.

On the other hand, regards most gambling games, intelligence will be mainly useful when managing the bankroll and controlling emotions, as we also have the so called emotional intelligence, which consists in the capacity of dealing and managing your personal emotions rationally, what means you are less likely to take impulse measures in uneasy and apprehensive situations.
