It is just a sign of the changing times and more and more young entrepreneurs are showing love for bitcoin because they are starting to discover the great technology behind it and the possibility of integrating it into their own businesses. The more people get into bitcoin, the higher the demand for it will be.

That started it all, heard a news about that last couple of weeks that uber drivers can be payed on tips by bitcoin. That is the coolest thing would happen this year. It is good start maybe soon more and more companies will eventually be part of bitcoin community, so it's easy for us to roam around and spend bitcoin for today there's is still limited businesses that has features related to bitcoin.

Though most people agree that this is nothing to be hyped or be excited about, however, I feel that this is a great avenue to popularize and make bitcoin known to the majority of people since there are a lot of uber users, and for example, if uber would allow bitcoin to be paid in my country, then people would be curious and more eager to find what bitcoin is all about and how they may be able to get it.

Although it would not function to well due to volatility, it would be great for a service like that allowing bitcoin. Many clients and drives would get interested in bitcoin just because of that.

This may be a good move for uber but might not be acknowledged by some drivers/riders. Some people don't know what bitcoin is. Uber must weigh things first and make sure that no rules will be violated.

Is this a joke?

Doesn't anyone remember why BTC was invented

Freedom from countries, central and regular banks, and all fascist organizations. Uber is one of the latter, tracking all its users' movements, with or without their knowledge. Having the Uber app is like having a picture of Adolf Hitler in the wallet. I'm sure the nazis would have loved a device which would record all the movements of the people. Uber did it, and they chose a German name to make it known to all that they're nazis.

But I guess Uber would a nice tool for the FBI and the CIA who want to control BTC. With the help of Uber, their job would be much easier to establish a who's who of all addresses in the blockchain.

Interesting article about Uber's New CEO. Looks like Uber might be taking bitcoin soon.

http://fortune.com/2017/08/30/uber-ceo-dara-khosrowshahi-bitcoin/

That's good for Uber's financial health. If they start accepting bitcoin, it will be helping only them to survive for a longer time. However, for bitcoin earners, it doesn't seem to be a great idea especially when the price of bitcoin is sky rocketing. So I doubt many people will not be interested in paying by bitcoin because they may be loosing a fortune.

Personally, I don't believe in spending my bitcoins for silly reason like coffee, grocery or taxi riding. I prefer to use fiat currency or my debit card. Bitcoin is far more powerful than what it is right now. When it will unleash its true power, many spender will regret.

Well it's a good but nothing to be hyped about really. Uber uses bitcoin already  for tipping drivers but I don't think the fact that the CEO of Uber has a positive sentiment towards bitcoin makes such a big difference.

Well nothing special here.

On the side note and a little bit of OT, they must learn how to follow rules and regulations.

Uber just fined 190M here in my country because of lack of regulations and didn't able to follow some of the rules. They enjoy their freedom because of poor governance prior to the new administration but now everything was changed because of new government. Look at their counterpart Grab operating without a problem because they follow protocol.

You are quick to think Khosrowshahi could add Bitcoin as a payment method in the Uber system. He can be a Bitcoin adopter, he can have already done with Expedia, in no way, there is a single sign that it could be added to Uber (at least in a near future) You can be a fan of this and that it doesn't mean you can mix it with your job. Also as mentioned in the article Khosrowshahi has a very long to-do list at Uber

Someone is brewing something, maybe another ICO and a new altcoin to be used by Uber for their riding passengers, with an option not only bitcoin for payment.

This would definitely be interesting for Uber, especially for the fact that they've been reported to be sinking... Some drivers already accept Bitcoin tips. We'll see how this plays out, time will tell.
