Just like Roma's fans, I was expecting to see much more from Mourinho when he was coaching Roma in Serie A but during this season Mourinho failed and he couldn't take a good place in the league while Mourinho got the chance to win the Europa League title in this season and bring more prestige for himself.
I don't consider Mourinho failed with Roma in Serie A because they did not spend good budget for transfer and can not compare with other clubs. Roma struggled with play injuries and they did not have big gaps on table with other clubs. If Roma have a little bit deeper player squad, maybe they would have gotten better ranking.
Roma did not have too good results in Serie A last several matches but perhaps they decided to give it up and prioritize Europa League. Ending in top four of Serie A does not mean too much but winning Europa League will not only bring them to Champions League but also help to enrich their club history.
I hope it will still be a great game to watch and not some fully defensive strategy with endless fouling and complaining. Sevilla in the meantime did play a bit better in La Liga, but are now again seeing a drop in performance while Roma is having serious problems for quite a while now.But I also think that this doesn't matter as much in this final. We are going to see a Mourinho who will be on fire
One questionable decision by the referee and I can already see him going crazy. I have never seen what kind of guy Mendilibar is. Is he a calm guy? If not we could also see an escalation between the two coaches.
Mendilibar did good jobs and he helped Sevilla playing well in second half of La Liga and surprisingly went to Europa League final. We should not underestimate Mendilibar but in comparison between two coaches and their experience in final matches, Mourinho are overwhelming.
In theory, Mourinho will be a winner in the final but Mendilibar has his ambition and motivation to win his first final match in Europa League as a main coach. He and Sevila are ready to beat Mourinho and Roma.
