They played the 1st half really effectively in fact. But they had big scoring issues. This can cost them too much. Panathinaikos are really good against resisting. If this goes on to the penalty shootouts, it is open for any kind of result. I won't be surprised to see Ajax dropping down to the ECL league phase from here honestly. I don't know maybe they are this bad because of its being only the beginning of the season. I've really missed the ten Hag era.
Even though Ajax won 1-0 on aggregate in the first leg, in reality Ajax did not slow down the tempo in the second leg, because Ajax still dominated the match in this second leg. But yes, somehow Ajax was playing at home and was able to control the match, but in the end Panathinaikos still managed to score a goal in the 89th minute. Or maybe, because the match was going to end like that, Ajax lost his concentration, so Panathinaikos managed to score a goal. and made the match continue until extra time and penalties.
But again and again, it seems like Ajax has a lot of pressure on them so they might also be quite tense. Because after all, Panathinaikos also failed in the first kicker but unfortunately,Ajax also failed in the last kicker and made the penalty shootout continue but strangely, the next penalty kicker experienced many failures from both teams. And so far there have been 11 kickers but the score is still tied.
