will see if jacare can take him down, whittaker has 94% take down defense and if he cant get him down whittaker kills him standing.
Robert Whittaker has two major advantages in this match and that he is a much younger fighter and he has knock out power but if you take the rest of the comparison Ronaldo Souza stands out with a huge difference and the only problem he had was against good wrestlers and grappler's which was difficult for him to take down and Robert Whittaker is not a good grappler but when you are facing a fighter like Souza you need to be a specialist to overcome his ground game .
94% tdd is not good grappling? not sure what else you need besides that and striking to beat souza ill take whittaker all day at +200 or more
If you look at Robert Whittaker's UFC career just pin point one wrestler he faced till now, only wrestlers take down opponents and most of the time BJJ specialist ,everyone he faced till now are strikers and so is the reason he does have a good take down defense,Ronaldo Souza is on a different level when it comes to the ground game so a 94% take down defense against strikers is not that impressive for me.

There's also MMA pundit Robin Black saying that Reis could win it vs Johnson if he could control the latter's back.  That's hard to do.  Johnson is just too quick.

Anyway, I made my only bet for the main card.  Waterson to win money line at 2.25.  I think that fight is a coin flip.

I doubt he can take Johnson's back, like you said he's too quick and has a solid defense with his back against the floor. On paper, Namajunas and Waterson have similar skill sets with each sharing a background in traditional martial arts before adding other elements to make it to this level in the UFC. I still give the edge to Namajunas although I like Waterson, Namajunas edge will be her well rounded game she has developed.

@notserp. I did not know that. I am looking at the odds right now and I see Jacare -230 and Robert Whittaker +200. Now that we know Robert Whittaker's high take down defense %, can we assume that Jacare is overvalued and his opponent is undervalued?

i like all the dogs
Wilson Reis
Michelle Waterson
Robert Whittaker
In a normal situation i would select the underdogs but betting against the best in the division in Demetrious Johnson is not going to happen for me and Souza would take Robert Whittaker down and finish him as he is not that good on the ground, but Michelle Waterson is an interesting fight and lets see how her preparation would be.

I think Demetrious Johnson has a huge advantage over Reis, reis is a great BJJ master but I think that is all about it, Johnson can box and if it goes down he can hold his own. Also I am wondering a lot about Michelle she has a great record and seems to be going fort he title, hopefully she does great for the next couple of games.

I think Wilson Reis trains out of Alliance MMA in San Diego with Dominick Cruz.

Wilson Reis is known for having a very good ground game & his wrestling looked very good in his last fight with Yuta Sasaki.

But would have to think Demetrious Johnson will win.

I like a lot of fights on this card. There are a lot of good prospects who are very skilled even if they're relatively unknown.

I don't really follow the Fly Weight division much and Demetrious Johnson already owns the division so there's really no excitement there.  The only fight I'm interested in at the main card is Namajunas vs Waterson.  I think the Waterson line has a little value.
Demetrious Johnson is a real talent and he does not have any challengers in his division and so is the reason there is no excitement in the division,if he wants a challenge he has to step up a division and face Dominick Cruz or Cody Garbrandt to have any competition ,Ronaldo Souza v Robert Whittaker is another fight where i am sure that Ronaldo Souza will be the winner and i do like these sort of cards where we could find easy fights to wage a bet.

Yes. Mighty Mouse is the true #1 pound for pound in UFC right now. He has sweep his division and even beat twice his closest competition(Benavidez). I don't think there's someone who can take the belt from him. So this fight for him is just like going to the office, no real threat. And as what the poster said above me, he should step up the plate and try to avenge his lost to Dominick Cruz.
