Ukraine is one of the former USSR countries, so it's similar in many ways to Russia. Many people know Russian, culture is tightly connected with Russia. Mostly the eastern part of course, western less. Now there is kinda civil war, that splits country. However as I know most people want their country is be united. Some say that people in eastern part of Ukraine want to join Russia. Well, it's bullshit according to the people who live there. There are bandits that continue fighting, but they are marginals that love Putin.

I am upset by the situation in Ukraine, sorry for ordinary people who suffer from their politicians. And in general, that they are stirring up dissension within their own country and between neighboring countries.

Ukraine is younger brother of Russia...........  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Tell that to someone from West Ukraine and he will get ballistic. The Ukrainians and the Russians are culturally very similar (along with the Belorussians). But the Western Ukrainian politicians would like to hide this. They would even say that the Ukrainians are the direct descendants of the martians and they don't have anything to do with either the Russians or the Belorussians.

i'm from here.. it was really annoying to live here until last years.. emotional igorance, unsmiling people, crooked cops, too much soviet bullshit in minds. and pretty cold winters as well. so i tried to stay abroad as much as i could: goa, bananas, ocean, chai, chapati, you know. for many years i liked it. it was before the revolution, before all the mess of the war.. and i got many fellows from moscow that time. and nobody wanted to come back to motherland after visa expiration day, heheh, neither me or them.

but then, on November 2013 BIG TRIP started. natural magic, act of people transformation, with random people feeding each other, sharing tents & rides, bringing firewood, singing songs and dressing up wounds. openair festival, almost drown in blood..
and things have changed.

now i really enjoy coming back home, it became much more friendly and easy to communicate here.

still a lot of unconscientious behaviours and silly looks - BUT - people started to LOOK INTO each other's EYES, if you know what it mean. much smiling,   helpfulness, openness in the streets.
still not heaven - but no more way back, i hope.
in my very own humble opinion - that transformation is the real basis of current and future changes of this country, though it's economical and political way should be probably rough Roll Eyes.

it's getting more and more interesting here. opened people, great nature, nice events and reeally cheap&tasty everything - you are welcome to come and see - drop me a line if you need any advice, heh)

PS there is a common opinion shared by some of my Russian friends, that both revolution ("orange revolution" in 2004-05 & "euromaidan" 2013-14) were directly planned and supported by US (or probably masons?). maybe they are not so unright  Cheesy, so i would like to say BIG THANX to everybody who was involved, may all be happy!

PPS and yes, climate is still an issue - despite of global warming (even more difficult than it was, because Crimea used to be most warm and sunny piece of Ukrainian land - and it is cut-off now). so mid-April to October is the best time to come (otherwise skiing/snowboard/boose is still an option). enjoy

Ukraine was the original Rus, but that's all history. South eastern Europe has one of the rapidly changing border history.
And in current time, Nationality should not come first.

And what do you think about it?
Thanks!
I myself am from ukraine.
What can I tell you about her?
A good country, despite the fact that its bad power makes. Many probably heard about Chernobyl. This is a lesson for all of us.They say that in Ukraine are very beautiful girls.
We have many places where you can relax. There are large rivers this Dnieper, Danube, Dniester))in our territory there is coal, salt, manganese ore))

Ukraine is a large country in Eastern Europe known for its Orthodox churches, Black Sea coastline and forested mountains. Its capital, Kiev, features the gold-domed St. Sophia's Cathedral, with 11th-century mosaics and frescoes. Overlooking the Dnieper River is the Kiev Pechersk Lavra monastery complex, a Christian pilgrimage site housing Scythian tomb relics and catacombs containing mummified Orthodox monks

I would blame both the sides. The Ukrainian government provoked the Russians by banning the Russian language and TV channels. This in turn provoked a strong response from the Russians. Both sides must exercise restraint.

Ukraine was the mother country of the Russian empire. But it got isolated as a buffer country after USSR losing the cold war.

I believe that Ukraine is a very beautiful country with rich resources, but the corrupt government separated it from Russia and Belarus through the collapse of the USSR and made a poor country. Now there is a lot of unemployment and an uprising of dissatisfied people who want to return to the USSR or join Russia.

Why don't you tell us what you think about the situation, seeing as you felt the need to create a thread about it? Russia believes it is theirs to control, most other countries in the world think they have the freedom to choose.

Ukraine is a donor country to the United States, the war was created artificially for pumping out money, only people are affected. A very rich country in terms of resources, but not rational use and sale, leads this country to a poverty level.

Does can it is needed first to ask the habitants of Ukraine, do they want again to be with Russia? And then, that when - that they were in the Russian empire about anything does not talk. Russia too when - that was not quite that is now.

Most of the residents of Eastern Ukraine want to be with Russia. That is why the residents of Donetsk and Lugansk rebelled against the Kiev regime and broke away as independent territories. Next will be the other oblasts such as Odessa, Zaporizhye, Kharkov, Dnipropetrovsk, Nikolayev and Kherson.

Ukraine is an artificial country, which should be divided and merged with the neighboring nations. Eastern Ukraine must be merged with Russia, and Western Ukraine must be merged with Poland. Because these two parts are not capable of existing as a single nation.

Ukraine and Belarus are the former part of the Russian Empire and they need to be added to Russia. Such a story is correct, because residents know Russian or understand it, and artificially created language forced many to kill their brothers who did not want to learn history.
