Good answer of  Cr_liev
And Kharkiv is a nice city, I've been there several times, but many years ago. Hope to go some day when will be some occasion, i.e. Cryptocurrency conference.
I'm sure there will be, like I shared the conference in Lviv, and Kharkiv is bigger in terms of population

I love Kharkiv and as I lived in some other cities of Ukraine, I can compare. One more warning will be: it looks rather depressive in winter. But I believe this is true to every city in the post-Soviet space.
Wow, you are lucky! I hope to visit some cryptocurrency-oriented conference here, too, but the ones I've heard about were likely organized for the purposes of advertising.

Hello, I live in Ukraine.
I will try to answer your questions.

1.It's just as safe for you as for me, pretty safe. Last time here is a problem of crime (theft), so you need to be careful about this.
2. Yes,unfortunately many people are racist.
3. fairly poor country
5. I think yes, but it's will be hard.

I'm also from Ukraine and my answers would be different.

1. Only some regions of Ukraine are not safe, but you will be not allowed to get there. In other regions the situation is as everywhere in the world - watch yor belonings, don't walk at nights alone, in other words - take care of your safety yourself.
2. In my surroundings I don't see any racists. I live in Kharkiv and there are many big communities of foreign students. They use public transport, are part of a crowd in the streets, take part in the city festivals... Never heard of any arguments.
3. Comparing to Europe, it's really very cheap. It depends though on the life level you are used to. Just FYI, here in Kharkiv you can rent a good 1-room flat for $200-250.
4.-5. I'm not a good adviser in these questions, but as I said the international communities are big here, I see some areas in this city with cafes, barbershops and so on for foreign people and led by foreign people. But I can say, not knowing a language could be a problem with finding a job.

Ukraine is a rich country in Europe. Ukraine is bordered by Russia. Ukraine hosted the European football in 2008. Currently Ukraine is suffering from economic crisis and war.

U say Ukraine is a rich country, at the same time you say Ukraine is suffering from economic crisis, how it happens ? War affects the economy. but developed economy will not collapse at once.

Every country "in-between" of such "super-powers" can meet a similar luck, and some smartass people can say afterwards like "oh it's a just a playground for superpowers". In fact, only one superpowers is prdominantly guilty in the course of last 50 years, and this super-power turns to shit everyhing it touches, making trouble for neighbors, and surrounding itself with shitty sattelites ruined in border conflicts.

It is unfortunate. The inhabitants of Eastern Ukraine got trapped in between the two super-powers (Russia and the United States). The US wanted to expand their sphere of influence, while the Russians wanted to prevent that at any cost. In the end it is the ordinary Ukrainians who are suffering, in the form of deaths, injuries and economic destruction.

This position and similar thoughts are used for explanation of Russian aggression.
Before Russian occupation of Crimea majority of Ukrainians were against entrance in NATO, now the majority stand for this (and for any other options which can protect Ukraine). So that was Putin and Russia who increased US influence in Ukraine
Moreover neither US nor other countries (which signed Budapest memorandum which gave security guarantees for Ukraine) didn't do much to help in resisting Russian aggression...

what happens in Ukraine is fratricide and it is certainly very sad, the war is always sad, but unfortunately people in the world do not know how to live.

Some were in Russian, some were in Ukrainian in Ukrainian thread (there is no separate local subforum, unfortunately)
Hard to guess, he might be Ukrainian, but there are always negative people and pessimists, in all countries.
In Ukraine we also have "fifth column", some people brainwashed by russian propadanda, they usually vote for communists (now this party doesn't exist) and now "Opposition block" - combination of russian puppets, oligarchs and corruptioners.
But amount of such people is not more than 10%

Chernivtsi was ranked the safest city
It looks like Chernivtsi is very safe are there enough people in that city?
Otherwise it will be a boring place if there are no many people,

Good city, population is 200 or 250 000, is it enough? ))
Good architecture in center, also Carpathian mountains are not far away (1 hour drive by car, or a bit more by train)
If you need many people - Kyiv would be best option. Outdated statistics says 3 million inhabitants, but I think it's around 5 million, and Kyiv is growing more and more

Chernivtsi is quite close to the European Union border, right? Also, around 20% of the population is ethnic Moldovan. It is quite similar to the provinces of Trans-Carpathia, where there is a similar-sized ethnic Magyar minority and Odessa (Bulgarian minority).

Even too crowdy also not too good. Smiley
less people mean here, for a instance  take a country like Norway. There are no many people in that country. So social person may feel boring. Hope Chernivtsi is not that much boring...
What about the weather in Chernivtsi ? is it too cold?

Hi EEM, I heard Liviv city is nice. shortwhile ago in the internet I got to see another visitor's review about that city. he has said that Liviv people are warmer.
Poltava, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Vinnitsa are these cities safe enough just like Kiev and Odessa ?
What are the differences of Kiev from Odessa ?

Yeah, all of these towns are too safe and too modern. The main difference is that those towns are not very big like Kiev or Odessa. I cann't find right now why, but Chernivtsi is called as one of the beauteous towns in Europe.

Hi Thanks for info. I found this ,  https://www.thekharkivtimes.com/2016/09/21/kharkiv-declared-among-ukraines-safest-cities/
