that's interesting news for our brothers in Ukraine because their president has legalized bitcoin in his country by legalizing bitcoin and cryptocurrency. It's very profitable for the Ukrainian community to transact with cryptocurrency and investing in bitcoin will become a bitcoin-friendly popularity, so by legalizing bitcoin in Ukraine, it is likely that bitcoin will rise again at a market value higher than last month's price.

Glad to see some European President is pro-crypto ( besides Malta ) as this is only good news for the citizens of Ukraine and they should take this as an advice to invest into Bitcoin and not only. Seems that a lot of officials from Ukraine are holding a nice bunch of Bitcoins into their wallets, what I find interesting is why now ? Why they didn't speak about Bitcoin in Ukraine some years ago to inform the citizens about cryptocurrencies. Here in Romania , I remember media spoke about Bitcoin since 2014 and from time to time there are some nice and detailed interviews regarding crypto and especially the Blockchain tech so lets hope more countries will follow the example.

I from Ukraine and I think, Zelenskiy not a pro-crypto president, he is a pro-taxes president  Grin
Since 2015 years, in news sometimes up crypto themes. Ex-president wanted to legalize cryptocurrency. Because mining is exist, but taxes to profit - not exist Cheesy. And AML in cryptoworld not exist too. And he change this situation. Maybe, he create a tokenization, but it does not matter. Taxes.. TAXES.. TAAXEEES. Only taxes.

Yesterday I posted the list of bitcoin friendly politicians (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.52807916) and guess what I discovered a new politician which is bitcoin friendly. This person is no other than the President of Ukraine namely president Volodymyr Zelensky. President Zelensky wanted to legalize bitcoin and other cryptocurrency in their country. According to news.bitcoin.com (https://news.bitcoin.com/ukraine-in-a-rush-to-legalize-cryptocurrencies-under-zelensky/)  they mentioned that the president is in a hurry to legalize cryptocurrency in their territory. The legalization is already being planned out very carefully since they are now creating regulations towards the crypto sector.

It is important to take note the political individuals who are making big things for bitcoin. I assume that with President Zelenskys term bitcoin will be legalized in Ukraine and it will bring a good impact on bitcoins value at the market.
Pretty big - Ukraine has been a pretty powerful force when it comes to bitcoin adoption, they've always been pretty popular with that, and especially mining.

I actually remember there being articles of people who hooked up mining operations in the winter and moved them around the house to save money on indoor heating - very ingenious!

It'll be hard for them to make any changes for the entire Europe though. The EU corporations are really against decentralization and crypto-currencies...

I am happy to see a country leader who fully supports his citizens to use crypto. Because from my point of view, the legality of crypto in Ukraine can make the way they do their transactions grow. Maybe over time, crypto money can reduce the use of paper money.

It's awkward when you're Ukrainian and pro-crypto, but learn this stuff in a discussion by people from various topics on bitcointalk Cheesy. When I google "Zelensky supports cryptocurrencies" in Ukrainian, though, there's no relevant information available. The same happens with googling "Zelensky is for Bitcoin". Only when I google the minister of digital transformation, I can see that there've been talks about it recently. The announcement in Ukrainian says, though, that the point of making cryptos legal is to make crypto-users pay taxes so that the state can benefit from that. Anyway, the talks about cryptos and blockchain are there in Ukraine, that's true, and they come from people of Zelensky, but not from Zelensky himself, so the thread's name is very misleading.

The current Ukrainian president seems to be a supporter of crypto for the country to be a test bed for regulations and gauging interest from the masses before Russia fully adopts it. Or this could be their way of rebuilding Ukraine after a series of devastating economic struggles and social divide between Russian sympathizers and Ukrainian nationalists that happened in the term of Petro Poroshenko. It could be a good strategy for starting a rebuild and inviting foreign players to Ukraine for crypto-related businesses and services, too.
Ukraine president have support for bitcoin will have positive way where in Ukraine have many new investor with bitcoin, they will heard what their president said about bitcoin as investment and legal payment, without have lower value by inflation I think bitcoin will wonderful in Ukraine, I hope my president country want to support for bitcoin become legal payment and become currencies for daily transaction.

Volodymyr Zelensky is not the sole pro-Bitcoin politician in Ukraine. A few months back, the Ukrainian parliament (Verkhovna Rada) made it mandatory for the lawmakers to reveal their cryptocurrency holdings. One of the MPs declared that he holds BTC465 in his wallets, which is worth more than $4 million. A few of the other lawmakers also revealed that they hold cryptocurrency. As per the affidavits, Oleksandr Urbansky owns BTC2,492 and Dmitry Belotserkovets holds BTC398. And the most surprising case is that of MP Dmitri Golubov. He declared that he is holding a massive BTC8,752 in his wallets (worth around $80 million). In total, 57 officials declared that they own Bitcoin.

Wow that was huge amount of Bitcoin holdings, no wonder why they are rushing to legalize it on their country since they will benefit from it once the price goes up but still a good news for crypto-space because other countries might follow their action like a domino effect.

P.S. can you share me the source? Thank you in advance!

this is rather old news , I believe it happened back in 2017
they were smart to legalize their , most likely , illegally obtained funds by buying bitcoins and declaring it while bitcoins were not considered assets or money
now if/when the crypto sector is getting regulated , they have this money , basically laundered and legal
look , I have declared them back in 2017 , so they could easily sell the coins and spend the money as they please
p.s. imagine any MP in your country hold thousands of bitcoins without ANY reasonable source of legal income to show for it
you simply do not earn millions of dollars out of the blue and  IMHO the vast majority of the Ukrainian MP are corrupt thieves

The article is misleading, as far as I'm aware, the president himself never said anything about crypto , though he did mention blockchain a few times in his speeches. The news are based on the statements of a minister from the government, I have reported about it here a few weeks ago - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ukraine-wants-to-legalize-crypto-again-5188232
You can't say that the president is pro-crypto because some people from his party are pro-crypto (which is also not entirely correct - they plan to tax it and regulate it, and those laws might even be quite draconian, who knows), the president himself most likely doesn't know much about crypto and doesn't care, he has more important things in his mind - the war, reforms, diplomacy, etc.

Just another reason to not trust bitcoin.com - not only they are extremely biased, they also can't properly report facts and try to sensationalize and distort them.

Crypto should be anonymous, free from centralized regulation. If anyone makes regulatory law, it makes crypto partially centralized. What we can try to prevent is, scam ICOs, IEOs. Random person starts his BS project to steal our money. First thing we need to do, is educate people about crypto. And influential people like Mr president can help us in that regard. Certainly it is a good news for crypto people. The early we can adopt crypto, it will be better. If we gather enough knowledge about crypto, it will be harder for the scammers to steal our money. I prefer crypto over fiat cause it makes me financially independent.

Somehow I doubt that he is personaly engaden in supporting Bitcoin just because this is his attitude. Probably there are some strong political reasons behind that, probably connected with Russia like you penzioner.
I don't know how much real power president has  in Ukraine but somehow I doubt that he can push positive Bitcoin regulation on his own.
There is a high percentage that there is a political reason behind this, they are planning something after legalizing cryptocurrency in their country. This may be bad or good, either of it, this might also become the reason for other countries to adapt cryptocurrency, this will increase the demand and there will be some improvement in the market that might hapen in the near future.

That's very interesting. Provide us a link to it. This is going to be a good country for crypto. Officials are revealing how much BTC they own, this is very revealing. I wouldn't be surprise if the officials in the neighboring countries also own some BTCs too so are they declaring these on their Statements of Assets and Liabilities?

The reason for rushing the legalization is perhaps to collect tax from them all.  Cheesy

This is exactly what i think, he just understood the advantages bitcoin presents to his country and if he legalizes the bitcoin market he knows that it will attract investors into his country from neighboring countries as well and it will be a crypto hub in the entire region and the benefit goes to the people as it will present more jobs and boost their economy, really good to see that some leaders are pro crypto.

Looks so young for a president but its good to see more politicians are considering cryptocurrency and he is rushing to legalize it - what drives him? We don't see much of them open for this revolutionary digital currency and if the legal council he has includes economist, he must be aware what cryptocurrency can do to a country's economy.

Not seeing projects from that country though, most of what I see was from Estonia. Slovakia as well which is pretty close to Ukraine.

Since the very President of  this country is very friendly and strongly supporting Bitcoin, then we can already be sure that soon Bitcoin can be recognized either as a currency, an asset or even both in Ukraine. I heard many things on Ukraine actually and how the government is very open to things related to cryptocurrency and blockchain in there. Now, I am hoping that economic activities can be stimulated in Ukraine because of their openness to Bitcoin and therefore can be helping a lot in their fledgling economy. With its population of 43,914,374, Ukraine is not another small island state and definitely has one of the best potential to be a key player in the Bitcoin marketplace. Will Ukraine be using Bitcoin as one of its central bank's reserve assets? I certainly hope for that too.

The current president of Ukraine is from a different background than most of the politician comes from. He's tech friendly and witty. He might lack the experience of politics but he knows how to make the people happy.
The problem with the world is we have corrupt politicians that are raised with conservative ideologies. They always want to rule with oppression and they fear any changes may lead to diminish of their power.

It's actually great that there are some leaders who look at cryptocurrency in a good way. This will be a good opportunity for countries since their leader is positive when it comes to cryptocurrency. Countries who are positive in crypto is making a huge impact in cryptocurrency as a whoele increasing the market volume, and not to mention those countries who are developing their own ideas in crypti creating projects and companies that are blockchain based would help in adoptation and awareness. Let's hope that Ukraine's president would inspire other leaders in accepting cryptocurrency.

It will bring value in that country and a model for other countries who still not adopting Bitcoin in their country, some countries are very hard on Bitcoin like Bangladesh and India and other countries if they see an industrial country like Ukraine making a good progress in Bitcoin I'm pretty sure they will have a change of rules regarding Bitcoin.
Actually its possible but there is no assurance since most of the government officials are against bitcoin while others think that it might help their economy and their people are able to get some benefits/opportunities from it. They have different way of thinking and perspective but as long as they think that its not good for their country and their people then they will not accept it, of course they want something where they can get some advantages and benefits but it is a good news that someone was able to understand how digital currency works.
