well I still need clarity and detailed explanation on how I can successfully grow in ranks in this forum.

Well, if you must know, a tree was once a seed before it germinated to became a tree. Also, a tree cannot make a forest.

All I have said above is just parables, but to be honest with you, if you want to increase your rank, you should get to know the serious rules of the forum, which are: don't plagerize, don't spam, don't spin comments, don't use AI to post, and develop a good skin so that you don't shy away because of criticism from some users. If you must increase your rank, then you need to learn from the posting styles of other reputable members and also be unique in your own posting style. Let your post be unique and not just some gibberish.

Why I said a tree cannot make a forest is because only you can not increase your rank by yourself, and to do so, you need the help of others who will award merits to you. So, if you want to win merit from reputable users, you must be a good poster and post interesting stuff. Avoid forum drama in boards like meta and reputation; otherwise, you might be seen as someone who is only hunting for merit. If you are good at making quality posts, you will not be blacklisted on the ignor list of high-ranking members that are supposed to even give merit to you.

I believe I have talked long enough. Good luck 🤞.

I am a newbie. And though I read a lot before registering on the forum, well I still need clarity and detailed explanation on how I can successfully grow in ranks in this forum.

The first thing I'm going to do is to welcome you.

That said, I have to say that expecting us to hand you something on a platter that you can easily find on your own doesn't give me a very good impression. Besides the fact that your interest in the ranks makes me think that you are more interested in climbing the ranks to earn money than in participating in the forum out of genuine interest. It would give me a much better impression if after having read as much as you are supposed to have done, you would like us to help you understand more about Bitcoin, for example how it works, what are its most debated issues, like scalability and second layer solutions, things like that.

You need to read and search before posting. [Guide] Searching effectively

In 2023 it should be obvious, and also by simply using the forum regularly he would learn these things without having to explicitly search right at the beginning when he's just registered.

I stand with Ukraine!
Well the FAQ says you can only get 14 activity points every two week period.

Answers are in the FAQ topic. You can find them by reading it again.

Forum rank

When you start out, you are a Newbie, and you will run into various annoying limits. These limits will be reduced to the point where you shouldn't usually notice them after you have participated in the forum for a few weeks. If you are on the forum to talk, then that's all you really need to know about rank. Don't worry about it too much, and you will eventually rank up.

If you want to maximize your rank, then you need to increase two statistics which are listed on your profile:
  • Activity, which is maximized by posting once per day on average. Posting more than that is useless in raising your activity.
  • Merit, which is gained by making good posts.

If you make ten thousand posts in a week, your activity will be capped and you will still be a Newbie. If you make ten thousand useless posts over any period of time, you will gain zero merit and you will still be a Newbie. You can rank up only by making good posts consistently. It's quality over quantity.

When trying to write quality posts, a lot of people act as though they're writing a book report for school: putting facts that we already know into their own words. Nobody wants to read that, and you will not get merit for it. Moreover, the length of your post and the quality of your English are only minor factors. In trying to write a quality post worthy of merit, you should offer new ideas, personal experiences, or perspectives that other forum users will actually find new and interesting.

-snip- well I still need clarity and detailed explanation on how I can successfully grow in ranks in this forum.
You need 2 things to grow your ranks:
1. Activity
2. Merits

To improve activity, you need to be actively involved in varied discussions in this forum. Since you are a newbie, I suggest you post daily (around 5 posts is enough). Your priority should be your local board, I think the best place to begin your journey in this forum is your local board. Where do you come from, dude?

To get merits, it is more complicated than improving activity. You need to have quality posts, so people can appreciate your posts with merits. To have quality posts, you need to learn how to post properly. Post properly will be related to the way you deliver your idea in your post and how good the content of your post is. Your post must also be easy to understand, interesting, and use correct words. In addition, you must avoid plagiarism and make off-topic posts.

It won't be easy to improve activity and merits. It must take a long time to grow your rank. But if you learn seriously and want to do efforts constantly, I'm sure you will grow your rank successfully. Good luck, dude...  Smiley

- hello doctor who box
You have learned a lot before creating an account here in this forum so I suppose you also know that don't create useless topics. Newbies like you wanted to see success right after they started doing what they were supposed to do. I have seen someone accusing the system for not getting merit and rank in the forum but before that accusing thread he had posted only 5 times from his account. So be patient, read and spend time here you will find your way up.

The first rule is to read the rules of the forum and to make sure you familiarize yourself with the and learn how to stay clear from whatever that will affect your membership here in the forum.

Once you master those simple steps, just as mentioned by the first member you commented on this post, don't claim others' work and don't scam once you are creative and active in the forum your activities will grow which shows your level of interaction in the forum.
Just abide with the rules and keep active on the forum, that way you will level up your rank provided that you also keep on posting quality posts that can be valuable for other members. Although you can easily increase your rank once you reach enough number of post activity, but it will be more meaningful if those posts too can give benefits to other members especially newbies. And never spam or resort into plagiarizing, that will put your account into danger. And lastly, respect everyone in the forum regardless of its position, you will earn merits from that.

To grow in rank you need to put effort into the forum, the forum operates like anything out there, you get back what you give in. It's perfectly alright for one to just want to understand how the forum works and learn from threads when they have an issue, but if you want to earn merits and rank up you need to put in effort to join discussions, do research on topics, try to be active as regularly as possible.

It's difficult when you're starting out but I can guarantee that it gets easier with time. Good luck!

It’s no longer surprising to me that newbies know about merit and are much interested in increasing their merit number because most claim to have been lurking around the forum before registering an account.

There is nothing wrong if a newbie come to ask forum users on such question even as they may have the knowledge from people that introduced them here. You should understand you have been in that shoes before now and no need to criticize them a lot Asking is perhaps to get a confirmation from other users and also to try their luck to be merited on their thread. Nobody likes to stay stagnant in a place, everyone strive to be at the top and that is what newbies try to do and if they don't succeed, then they give up. They need some level of encouragement.

MAaaN...!! CUT THAT STUPID SHIT
It’s no longer surprising to me that newbies know about merit and are much interested in increasing their merit number because most claim to have been lurking around the forum before registering an account. If you have been reading a lot as you say, you should have found threads where this topic have been discussed.

The only way to get merits is to engage topics and make on-topic contributions to the discussion. Do not plagiarize and avoid making off-topic comments.

But there are also many beginners who eventually give up because they don't get any merit at all because their contributions are lacking and don't provide responses that are appropriate to the topics discussed.
To be able to get merit depends on how we contribute, if it is useful for the forum then it will be easy to do. and plagiarism is also found a lot and comes from newbies and in the end they will be ignored.

To grow in rank is basically to post quality stuff that other users (and MS's) would like and find merit-worthy. The thing is you must earn merits from others, thus you might be a high quality poster, but the boards you frequent is different from where the users with the most merits visits, and in that case you might stay a long time before being noticed.

If you post naturally and learn at your own pace, you'd prolly rank up; but the speed at which you rank up depends on the knowledge you have at your disposal, this is the reason why certain users would definitely rank up quicker than others, so just be yourself and grow at your own speed.

Bitcoin = Financial freedom
To grow your rank you need merits and activity, the former is the harder because you need to earn it while the activity points will keep increasing as long as you're active here.

So how to get merits is the point you need to know and the most generic answer is "post quality posts", it can be a one liner or a detailed explanation about the topic which depends. You can also monitor the highest merit earners to get an idea how they are doing it.

I will appreciate your comments especially those that have gone far in ranks in this forum.
Thanks, as I anticipate your Swift and favourable response.
To grow in ranks in this forum. Here are a few things I have learned over the years of being here:

- If you take your time to read and learn about bitcoin and the cryptocurrency world, you will be able to make meaningful contributions to the conversations that goes on here. If you do, some members may show acknowledgement and appreciation by sending you merits.

- You do not have to comment on every topic you don't have anything to write. You would be considered a spammer if you do so.

- Take the time to go through the posting and writing patterns of higher ranking members on the forum to understand their writing style, research ability, and from there, develop yours.

What I've understood about the way the forum operates is that it's similar to a gadget that gas a manual. Without fully understanding the manual, you can't be able to enjoy what you have.

The forum is a fun place to be but it may look boring when you feel you're contributing but it's not reflecting because you're not getting the merits. I just know that when you contribute intelligently, you'd get the merits that would push up your ranks since it's not only when your activities grow.

7. Don't generate a post using A.I "especially Chat G.P.T" as it is against the non-written forum rules.
The rule for it is, Plagiarism.

Copy and paste AI-generated content without source (I doubt such posters will leave AI sources) is plagiarism. The same for any tool you use to get content but not write it from your mind, by yourself.

1. Don't plagiarize
2. Don't post off topics
3. Get familiar with the forum and boards
4. Read the rules and make sure you understand them
5. Make use of the forum search button for any aspect you may like to know
6. Be active and keep to learning, don't rush and maintain a dencent modesty (reputation) on the forum.

In addition to what this user just listed above, I will love to add mine as follows;

7. Don't generate a post using A.I "especially Chat G.P.T" as it is against the non-written forum rules.
8. Don't scam other members on this forum, because you might likely be given a red tag that will damage your account.
9. Focus on creating valuable contents and merits will come naturally, please don't beg for merit or do merit trading as it could be harmful to your account.
10. Lastly, Always try to study any post you happens to come across which has a lot of merit, and try the know the reason why it got so much merit & try to apply it in your next post. (i.e Maybe the post was educative or it answered a question in a more detailed manner that everybody could understand).
