So, if the electricity costs will be much lower than with GPU, the price of vnl will not go higher, than it's now (during GPU minning). Am I right?

Impossible to predict, maybe something else will change the market.

So what's a point to allow FPGA's minning VNL?

A lower electric bill.

that will not happen.
difficulty will go up until it's barely profitable to mine with fpga, or even higher.
that's how it works: if there is money to be made, people will come and mine, until difficulty is so high that someone must leave.
it balances itself.

Maybe the point is to secure the network.

For those who wonder about the announcement you can find it here:

https://talk.vanillacoin.net/topic/140/minerpp-miner-project

I am a layman and not sure I understand.  Did John create an FPGA download?  Does this mean I can purchase a few FPGA's and install his code and it will work?  Please advise.  No techhie here. Sorry.

John did not finish or release a bin to mine with FPGAs yet.

Will it be profitable to mine with GPU after FPGA's release?

That's not something you can predict.  It depends on the VNL price and your electricity costs, along with the amount of hash.

Some numbers that have been thrown around are 200 mh/s - 250 mh/s @ 5w for $80 FPGAs.  So, the cost per mh/s is similar compared to a used gpu, but electricity cost will be 1/25 or so.

Remember, GPUs got higher rewards.  In a little over 7 weeks, rewards will drop to 74 VNL per block.

The FPGAs seems exciting ! But something that afraid me is maybe the setup of this :/. The setup is the same that ccminer/sgminer ? Does it is plugged to a PC during the setup ? Does it is standalone ?

That's a nonsensical statement.  Perhaps it's somewhat true of the clone coins your used to, but value is not derived from how much a product costs to produce.  If no one wants a product, it doesn't matter how much it costs to produce, it's not worth anything.

Our current marketcap is around $136,000 with 7.5 million coins already produced.  If John is able to complete the roadmap, specifically if he can make zero confirmation transactions work trustlessly in a way that all exchanges agree upon, this will be the most valuable altcoin period.  Think about hitting send and having your coins sent instantly between exchanges with no waiting.  Assuming a tight spread, everyone wanting to transfer coins would convert to VNL first.

Lol, it's always like this. Sure it's interesting tech but the developer has no understanding of how to market it (or explain it) to normal people. Well I guess the alternative would be a bad dev and lots of empty hype so this is better in that sense.

John is offline until sunday, iam sure he'll explain more about it when he's back.. If someone else doesnt in the meantime, that is..

Staking in wallet is working ?How many coins i must have to start staking in wallet ?

Any amount should work.  Keep in mind that the stake rate is .7% annually so apply that to number of coins in your wallet.

Make sure that your wallet is unlocked...

No rush here Smiley

VNL was actually launched in December if I read correctly. It's nice and stable now in terms of daily mined coins coming to market.
Easily absorbed with the volume it sees.

But I do see the market reaching a new step up in the not too distant future.
There was a new all time high in March and one in April. Wouldn't be surprised to see another in May as this rate.
The "all time" chart on Poloniex looks fantastic and the market cap is in the 125-140k area which has a low downside and high upside.

Everyone should have a stack as a long hold.
