Hmm All the Generated Coins have gone to this Address

blockexplorer.com/address/198i5jrY1B4xGnQwbiDVuQzcq17thzaH1s

Now all of a sudden that account is empty and all the coins have been sent to

blockexplorer.com/address/198i5jrY1B4xGnQwbiDVuQzcq17thzaH1s

and not a single one spent

Those addresses look very similar.

Hello,

We are constantly working hard to make our mining pool better, and we are ready to deliver bunch of cool new features in the near term.

Currently we are starting beta testing of the new billing method - DGM (Double Geometric Method) and we are seeking for testers.

We set 0% pool commission for beta testing period, 100% of found bitcoins will be shared between testers.

If you want to help us, please contact our support team for further instructions.

Sincerely yours, 50BTC team!

DGM is announced, then a few days later pool is "hacked"?

Anyone else think that maybe the pool didn't keep sufficient reserves for a long round or two and got stuck holding the bag a few too many times?
Show us the links to the "stolen" coins.  Other pools have done this when it's happened.  Maybe someone running the pool got greedy fingers and started salivating when they saw the pool wallet. Too many unknowns.. typical russian mentality...
I'm surprised this pool lasted as long as it did.

Hi there!

50BTC has covered all losses. Users were never affected.

In this difficult time for us, we are looking forward to your support and understanding.

-- okay - users were most certainly affected by not being able to access their funds. This is understandable now that we know you cannot identify the exploit, therefore you do not trust your billing software, so we cannot get valid information from the site, or make withdrawals based on a known exploitable software package. this I accept and should have been made aware of earlier (you may not have lost all your hash power as well)

Quote
At this moment we are working around the clock to restore the database and we need your assistance, because each user's case is handled individually, so please be patient.
- We appreciate your hard work, which is in your self interest. We hope you take the above into consideration when you determine the 'special conditions' for past, loyal members of your pool. Your lack of response to the members that you serve and that make 50BTC.com a viable enterprise has, as you can see, had a devastating effect on your ability to retain hash power/ customers. You provide a service for your members and should have had this as your primary concern. Things may have gone very differently.

there is more understanding now that you have communicated something that we can understand. We do wish you well, and hope you continue with more honesty, transparency, and frequent updates. Again, it is in your best interest. I for one would hate to see this be the end of this pool.

Hi there!

We keep on investigating the way the billing-software was hacked but vulnerability still can not be identified. That's why we’ve made a decision to rewrite billing software from scratch. We must admit that a significant amount of bitcoins was stolen during this attack. Currently our main goal is to restore pool's service as soon as possible.

During the pool's history there were lots of different attacks, including loss of 1170 bitcoins (TX1, TX2, TX3, TX4). 50BTC has covered all losses. Users were never affected.

At this moment we are working around the clock to restore the database and we need your assistance, because each user's case is handled individually, so please be patient.

We are expecting that in few weeks pool will get up and running with a new billing software and security system.

All users registered before October 18th will get a special conditions for mining on 50BTC.

In this difficult time for us, we are looking forward to your support and understanding.

Good point miner49er
If this had come in the first couple hours it would have been extremely re-assuring
A week after the fact with nothing but silence in between and a vague reference to weeks from now doesn't make up for the week of silence and pushing the store.

Let's hope they turn things around and the special conditions are worth something for the delay in payouts.

No offense intended, but that is the post we were all looking for at Hour 1 of this issue.

Have you asked for / received any input or assistance from any of the other major pool operators regarding the new software you are implementing?

Does this mean that you will cover the losses this time as well?

Also:

we’ve made a decision to rewrite billing software from scratch.

What about those of us who have attempted to make payouts through the current system which are now stuck "in process"? Will those transactions be carried out when the new billing software goes live?

omfg. there is something very wrong...

1. no 'warning' for new miners - not even offical news on the hp - that payouts are suspended (only 'we have a lot of support requests') -> they want to scam new miners
2. is the hashrate manipulated?
3. https://50btc.com/analytics -> look the 'registered users' chart last 5 days - suuuure

twimc: if this unprofessional b_____ will ever be up and running aggain - please ddos the s____ out of them - ty

It is not completely dead yet.... some pages still work, just all the personal account pages are blanked out. I guess this is done intentionally to avoid more flooding with bad payout requests and support messages.

For sure whining and going their nerves with useless messages and mails isn't going to help. I hope they are still trying to fix the data and do payouts when they have been able to. After all they are from Russia and have a lot of Russian customers. I wouldn't dare to take the money and run away in Russia.

This is a page, which still is active: https://50btc.com/analytics

I get the same blank page upon attempted login also.

I had 9 BTC in my account a few days before the attack, and since I operate 367 GH I would have had 12-14 by the time the attack occurred, perhaps more.

I'm back on Ozcoin for the moment, and I'll be checking my payouts daily - I can't afford for something like this to happen again. It's partially my own fault for leaving so much to build up on my account. So set up an automatic payout for each day, or make sure to cash out. Don't be like me and risk up to 3000 USD (at time of writing).

Did 50BTC.com do this to themselves?
Tongue
[...]

Why should they have done so? At 120 TH/s the pool still generated about 220 BTC per day, so the 3% PPS were about $40k per month for the pool at current exchange rates.

I guess the more interesting question is, if they really have lost all bitcoins in the pool wallet, do they have any interest in restoring the balances?

if the bitcoins are gone, restoring out balances is largely pointless, since they won't be able to pay us, and the vast majority of us would not return to mine there. this could well be the death of this pool.

The speed at which this pool died looks like NQ Mobile stock chart today.  Can't believe I was lucky enough to have cashed out 2 days ago.  I guess that makes up for the 1.29 Bitcoins I am waiting on from 50BTC.
