Their fee is 7 percent versus 3 percent here, right? That's quite a difference as well. 50BTC has been stable for me for the last two days as well, so I am hesitant to switch right now.

7.5% PPS, yes.  Only 3% on PPLNS, which pays txfees (~1.5% bonus).  Also adding NMC to PPLNS soon which is a ~4% bonus at the moment as well.  The only time BTC Guild has been unstable in over a year iis during attacks or server migrations [which are results of attacks].
Just directed my 24/7-miner towards your pool, on PPLNS Smiley As your total hashrate is quite high, the variance is not as high as with other pools. For part-time miners however, I'm sticking with PPS on 50BTC for now, as 7.5% is a bit steep IMHO.

Just so you know, "part time miners" are not penalized under PPLNS.  I believe they're not punished under DGM either, but I've never wrapped my head around DGM.  The only system that actually penalizes miners for running part time is slush's score method.

Under PPLNS (BitMinter and BTC Guild), it might look like you are penalized at first.  This is because PPLNS applies payments to shares for a few hours after they have been submitted.  However, turning your miner off doesn't change how much those shares will be paid.  I believe DGM has a similar "charge up" (I've seen it referenced on ozcoin in the past).

That said, PPS has an appeal.  Even at higher fees, it is nice to see steady income, although you miss out on the roller coaster ride when luck is really good.

I keep getting offline and zero shares on some miners which are mining away. Have anybody seen this?

Any suggestions for a more stable pool which lets you name and track your workers like 50btc?

btcguild

I was using btcguild before I jumped to 50btc. The reason why I moved away from btcguild was that it was very unreliable. But I might have been due to ddos attacks or similar.

changed to btcguild 2 days ago. not a single disconnect

If you weren't solo mining, you are not going to see more of that block solving than the normal amount you get for your few ghashes.... Did you actually think the site will pay you the 25 btc?

No...
yes Smiley all the time i think that will pay 25btc. than sorry for all this mess

That the whole idea of a pool.  It's like buying lottery tickets in a group, 1000 person each buying a ticket for example.  Sometime, someone have the winning number, but the gain is shared across the whole group.  The 'block found' is just an indication, an add-on feature of the pool to say that you had the lucky ticket, 'just for your record'.  Still, you get reward according to your contribution.  The more numbers you put on your ticket (the higher your hash rate), the more you earn.  You may be 'unlucky' and never find a block, but still, you put your chances in, and get rewarded accordingly.  Or you may be extremely lucky, like me who happen to have found 2 blocks which go against the odd, still I only brought the equivalent of 17BTC to the pool to date (and brought like 8~10BTC total at the time I solved the 2nd block).  But I don't get more reward, noticed or even get praised for it, that's just pure statistical luck.

And no, if you do find a block, you can't solo submit it, as you have just the header, and can't re-create the whole block, which only the pool know how it assembled it.  The only thing you can do if you want to 'disturb the odds' is negatively by holding (not submitting) a winning block if you happen to find one, but it bring no goods to anyone, as the pool will then be short of 25 BTC. BTC < > INR & USD

I've given up worrying about the website it's always buggy, my daily payouts are at the expected amount for my hashrate and have been this way for months, which is the only thing that matters.

How do you withdraw the payment without the site working properly.?
(unless you have set regular payout which is still not accurate)

I set up 24 regular payouts so 00:00 01:00 02:00 etc equal to the amount I should get each day, normally arrives around 8am, if it doesn't I know there is a problem
Yup.. This is a great Idea.. I had only a 1 or 2 payments setup and sometimes it used to miss that deadline by a a couple of mbtc's and i had to wait for the next payout.!

That's it, I moved to Eligius for a while...  Will see in a week if things are better at 50BTC.  I just wonder how many times the admin will come and have to lower the hash rate in the title before fixing the problem Grin

Site is down, so is the port 80 pool  Angry

Luckily, Eligius also have port 80 pool.

I have 1 mining unit at my job Smiley that has nasty corporate firewall blocking everything except port 80 and 443.
