You've gotten good answers to most of your questions already.

Best wallet? For 5k worth btc I would invest in (or ask your patron to invest in for you) a hardware wallet. Ledger works fine IMHO and is cost-efficient. Never put large amounts in an online wallet.

Where to fit in as a pro gambler? If you gamble with btc try the gambling section of btc talk here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=56.0
You will have to read a bit and do your research... See what the community there says. I don't gamble myself, but I know that with a little time invested lurking such threads you will get a pretty good idea who is a troll who is a shill and who is legit.

And do keep us updated with your progress, although by the looks of it, you're doing just fine with csgo

If it ain't broke, don't fix it, am I right?

One more thing. STAY AWAY FROM THE SECURITIES section! The only faster way to lose everything is to try cloud mining.

Good luck man

Hi Harvin:

Are the prices stable?
Bitcoin price is far away from stable. I think it will take years.

Are miners as dead as they use to be?
Unfortunately, home mining is not profitable anymore, but wait: if you live in a country where electricity is cheap (like China) and you want to invest money to get next gen low-consumption miners and build a serious farm, I suggest you to do some calcs Wink

What miners do people use?
Mostly S5s....but check this out https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bitmain-launches-4th-generation-bitcoin-mining-asic-bm1385-1156770

Sites to avoid and sites I can trust?
Maybe I'm too paranoid but...try to avoid as much sites as you can: gambling, exchanges (exit scams are more common than expected), please avoid all the sites that promises you to double your coins, they are ponzi schemes. Just read bitcointalk to get updates on Bitcoin world.

The best wallet?(old wallet was blockchain)
If you want a local wallet, I suggest Multibit. If you want an online wallet, I would try greenaddress, it's much safer than blockchain.info

Where can I fit in being a gambler or a professional gambler?
Don't do it. Be smart and don't gamble, you will save more money!

For your questions other posters didn't develop enough.

The best wallet?(old wallet was blockchain)
Anything that's not online, anything where you are the only person that can possibly know the private key.

Where can I fit in being a gambler or a professional gambler?
Poker. I don't see anything else. Any other form of gambling is not profitable in the long run. Unless you know another player vs player gambling game with a heathly community.
Pokerstars with real money.
Seals with clubs with Bitcoin.

the big new inventions in the past 7 months.
In the mining world, BitFury say they have developped an incredibly efficient chip. I think it was 0.2J/GH. Someone showed me 0.06J/GH but I haven't been able to verify that.
To give you an idea of how good that is
0.51J/GH S5
0.445J/GH S5+
0.25 J/GH S7

You should probably read on the XT debate too (and all the BIP1XX).

The site looks interesting.

My questions :

Are the prices stable?

No, bitcoin is volatile.

Are miners as dead as they use to be?

For now, mining bitcoin is not profitable anymore, you need mining farm for yourself.

What miners do people use?

You can choose here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison

Sites to avoid and sites I can trust?

Sites for what? You should avoid a site which offer you to double your money in one day

The best wallet?(old wallet was blockchain)

Avoid this wallet, you should move to cold wallet or desktop wallet, my recommendation is Electrum.

Where can I fit in being a gambler or a professional gambler?

I'm not gambler, but you can find on this forum, there are a lot legit gambling company, but my choose is PrimeDice, their giveaway always in big prize.

If your looking for a site check my signature, poker is getting big and is linked to 4 other sites. Usually around 8k-12k people playing in turnaments depending on the time of day. Anything from  $10 freerolls to $20k sometimes you get those $million tunraments.

..... I recently ran into an investor who has giving me 5k in bitcoin to do his betting for him .....

I am more interested in finding out about the "investor" that you "ran into" and was willing to give you 1 million and 2 hundred thousand USD to gamble for him!!
He means $5,000 worth of bitcoins, not 5000BTC.

Are the prices stable?
Definitely not. Bitcoin is known to be highly volatile, the price can be easily affected by the news.
Are miners as dead as they use to be?
It does depend on the efficiency, location and price of hardware. With a high efficient hardware, less electricity would be consumed, hence less electrical cost and higher profit margin. By living at a cooler area, you won't need so much cooling and the pricing of the hardware affects the ROI.
What miners do people use?
I would say the most popular is S3 while the newest is S7, it is one of the most efficient ASIC miner.
Sites to avoid and sites I can trust?
I can't say much about this. I would definitely avoid blockchain.info due to their security holes.
The best wallet?(old wallet was blockchain)
Greenwallet.it is good for online hot wallet where you can access it from everywhere as long as you have mnemorics. Electrum and Multibit are pretty good choices too.
Where can I fit in being a gambler or a professional gambler?
- I can't really say much about this-
the big new inventions in the past 7 months.
Not much, perhaps the advancement of ASICs?

hello lucky gambler:)

let me answer your questions from my personal point of view:

Are the prices stable? NO
Are miners as dead as they use to be? YES, home mining is dead
What miners do people use? various, but mostly something from bitmaintech.com (S5 and now ordering S7) or cheap USB miners
Sites to avoid and sites I can trust? this is tricky, only your common sense and experience can answer, anyway you can always ask here, if you are not sure. (or check https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0).
The best wallet?(old wallet was blockchain) paper for long term, electrum for daily operations. avoid web wallets.
Where can I fit in being a gambler or a professional gambler? imho second option fits you:)

Hey guys my name is Harvin and I use to manage bitcoin gambling sites I made around 12-18k from doing this and took a break and played a game called csgo. I am sure you all have heard of the game and for the past 7 months its been my online life. I have made 12k from gambling on csgo (proof : https://i.imgur.com/9eyxJDq.jpg ) and own my own betting prediction website csgodailybets.com(not advertising). I recently ran into an investor who has giving me 5k in bitcoin to do his betting for him and I get a cut so i was just wondering if you guys can give me an up date on some of the stuff in the bitcoin community.

My questions :

Are the prices stable?
Are miners as dead as they use to be?
What miners do people use?
Sites to avoid and sites I can trust?
