I don't know what you think, but i think that other cryptocoins are just a "little-brake" for the BTC growth. If BTC is world-wide crypto coin, why so the need to make other one?

And, sure, the first wide-known cryptomoney will be BTC, coz is the most known. Have u a little idea about the time need other cryptocoin to be wide-known? BTC has been the first on market, and except some forks, will be the leader.

From here to 5 years, what is the scenario for u?

Like you said, bitcoin was first, and to me, it's the only original...
Some of the clones will live on (in my opinion), but only a very limited amount of them (for example, litecoin).

In 5 years, bitcoin will still exist, maybe 10% of the current altcoins, and 100's of new altcoins that will also be gone in a couple of years...

Hundreds altcoinswill gone next hundreds will come, altcoins are mostly hype market, done by same devs with diffrent nicks,,thayare just to stolen some btc.Therearesome legit, real and there is space ,niche for them, but mostly thay are scams, shitcoins
We can not simply ignore all the alt coins in way you are saying. In my view alt coins are testing for bitcoin with different features like quick block time and any kind of testing we want to conduct for bitcoin in real time. Alt coin are market movers, simply generating some transactions with bitcoin.

Yes. In the open source system and free market we need competitors to gain maturity over time. Alt coins are doing that to bitcoin ecosystem by default. Alt coins are good and needed one in my perspective in order to achieve great things with bitcoin payment system.

Sidechains could kill a lot of altcoins. But I wonder how the sidechains creators will then reward miners to maintain the sidechain. New altcoin ?
I don't know I think traders are happy to ride huge waves that come with those unregulated tokens. It's like penny stocks !
Also some alts could be useful for precise things, such as virtual casino chips (CLAMS for example). But it's really hard to predict anything.

There are too many altcoins, that is without a doubt. But I would not go as far as to say Bitcoin should be the only one in town. All great inventions have a rather successful copy that stirs some competition and that is healthy. Bitcoin does not really have competition right now, but could have in the future.

I think that litecoin will also survive as a more fractionary coin for smaller transactions.

There will always be more and more cryptos, because people are always hoping to find "the next Bitcoin", but the only thing it proves over time as we've seen already is the fact that there will not be a "next Bitcoin". Bitcoin "is it" and the protocol is good enough so that things keep developing in top of it.

Well, I think altcoins are good for btc when they are innovative, they help to keep bitcoin on its course and (probably) fix some problems. No altcoin is so widely known as bitcoin, but Litecoin, Dogecoin, Dash and some other coins have managed to get accepted in a few sites. Personally I like Dogecoin because it has lower fees (which was one of the reasons because I liked bitcoin at first).

To be honest, it's not braking the btc adoption at all in my opinion. Sure it will effect the stability or price increase of btc over time a bit, but in general I know people for instance who got into bitcoin through dogecoin, they had never heard of btc before that but noticed r/dogecoin was getting so popular and got into cryptocurrencies that way.

If you consider btc as a company, every company needs challengers so they can improve. Altcoins are only going to help it in the long run.

Other cryptocurrencies use another platform to operate.
Some are called as Crypto 2.0 which is total different from bitcoin.
I think bitcoin at the moment is the best and most of others are scam[not all]

I always see the Alt coins as the perfect breeding ground for excellent new innovation. Bitcoin has the advantage of being the first and having the most hashing power behind it.

It also has a huge merchant base, who accepted it as a payment method and some pretty good projects that would be coming our way soon.

I do not think any other currency could fill those shoes now, but it will grab a share of the whole Crypto currency market. Currently Bitcoin is still at the top and growing.  Wink

I don't think any other crypto currency can replace bitcoin. But some like dogecoin, litecoin can gain traction.

Yes even Litecoin or dogecoin are popular among crypto-currency community, only bitcoin has all the infrastructures required for being serve like a digital money. Bitcoin is the most established crypto-currency. So, Bitcoin is the best crypto-coin.

Fact is we never ask or request for the other coins to be made. Since bitcoin code is open source, there is probably nothing we can do about it to stop the creation of the other cryptos. I haven't really seen one that introduces the best feature or solutions to bitcoin's problem. In fact they all share the same core issue and the major problem is that these coins have been giving bitcoin the negative perception in a way.

Ever used Facebook and thought...hmm, I like Facebook but I wish I could . Did you ever think, if only I had the source code I would copy Facebook and add my idea and then everyone would rush to join my Facebook because it is so much more super awesome and as an added bonus, I become super rich.

Bitcoin does provide the source code. The alt creators are still waiting for their alternative Facebook to take over. Not realizing that if their idea was so super awesome that Facebook started losing market share, they would just add that feature to Facebook and that's the end of your awesome clone.

Bitcoin is the original and bigger one. The other cryptocoins are good for traders, big traders can move its prices to its interest and also are good for the person that creates the coin and sell to other users.

Alternative cryptocurrencies are just competitors and some are created in hope for a similar explosion in value. Like litecoin for example it is designed intended to be more efficiently mined and faster to conduct transactions than bitcoin. Since bitcoin has been around for 7 yrs. i have high hopes things would be much better in another 5 years.

It is also the best among the rest.
