Now they don't even have Kevin Love or Brad Beal.

US odds are still heavily inflated even after the exhibition games, imho. They don't have any closers from years past that would be able to seal the deal for them if the game was close. They also have never played together as a group.

Meanwhile teams like Spain, Nigeria and Australia have excellent chemistry that just can't be brought up in a few weeks. Definitely worth a punt imo for hte rest of the world to take home gold for this one.

Honestly not having Kevin love is a plus for the US, I think international ball he will be a liability.  US played well against Spain they looked better.  The ball is going to go through Durant, Lillard and Tatum.  How they play and shoot will dictate how far they go.  I'm just worried they don't have a solid center that can protect the paint well.

You are talking about the match of July 11th where Nigeria won against USA 87-90 ? According to betexplorer odds for USA were between nothing and 1.02, and odds for Nigeria were between 10.00 and 27.80

https://www.betexplorer.com/basketball/world/friendly-international/usa-nigeria/4l5IH0JC/
Well, 10.00 isn't that much Smiley. I thought that odds were about 50.00 or something similar.

I know it's just an exhibition match so we should not take their losses as a big deal. When the Olympics come, Nigeria nor Australia won't stand a chance at Team USA.

Let's not put a big issue on their 2 losses despite they are a TEAM USA that shouldn't be unbeatable by these countries.

We will see the real action in the actual event.
People were saying same thing before 2019 World Cup, but then USA ended even without medals. Offcourse, now their squad is better, but loss against Nigeria, who isn't even powerhouse in basketball is alarming signal. Before 2008 or 2012 Olympics USA trashed their opponents for something like 30 points and even won by 80 points against Nigeria. But times when they were able to trash opponents without even playing seriously is already in past. And Coach Pop told it after game.

Surprise to see that just because it's TEAM USA, they should be an unbeatable team in the Exhibition match.

Just because of that loss in the Exhibition match, they are now called a weak team, a team with no chemistry and something like that. When the Olympics come, of course, they will play on it much seriously. That's the bad thing about USA Team, they are comfortable in the early quarters because it was just an exhibition match.

There will be a rematch tomorrow between the USA and Australia. I'm sure the USA will now own the team in their next exhibition match to silent critics.

The 1992 Dream Team was also lost in their exhibition match vs the USA college all-team. But they managed to beat everyone else in the actual Olympics where the coach didn't even attempt to call a single timeout in the whole Olympics no matter who their opponents were. Now that we have this new team and the other countries has already improved since then, they will gonna need some kind of huge motivation to even reach the finals in the Olympics, or else the other international teams will eliminate them in the first round.

Yeah the field has definitely caught up.  That 92 team was downright filthy.  There won't be another team like them.  Seeing how this team was built (perimeter shooting a priority) if they go up against a good perimeter defensive team with a strong inside precise they can own the paint.  This US Def has holes for sure.  One bad night of shooting and poof your out.  I like teams built from the inside out, always easy to Nad a 2 foot shoot then rely on 20-25 footers all night.  When the outside shot isn't going down you can always rely on your paint bangers to get it done.

I can't find the line but does anyone here know what the ML line was for the Nigeria win over the US in the exhibition Olympics warmup game.  I would image the odds were huge in favor of the US.

Then they lost to a very good Australia team.  I can see this version of the US team getting knocked out before the medal stages.  Kevin love as your center.   Roll Eyes

Dang that would have been a good hit if you had Nigeria in a parlay.

Good thing to see the team come out strong against Argentina who has a pretty good squad.  I know the international tas have a leg up because they are used to playing with each other, this US team is built around shooters.  As long as they play like they did against Argentina they will be alright.

I guess even if there's no parlay if you get x27 odds, that would be good enough, however, who would expect that as team US is a strong team and they are always the favorites in every game. Maybe we will not see this kind of opportunity again as team US will adjust? When is the next game if there's still one? Sorry, I was not following the event.

You can also find the pre live odds through flashscore and they include other markets like totals and handicaps, on their match against Australia the odds are slightly higher.

Good thing I never bet on these friendly matches even in football knowing there's nothing on the line when it comes to these type of matches.

Could it help from your question.

All books that I looked at had 10+x odds on Nigeria.

I'd actually expect the US to be quite underpriced as favourites going forward. It is clear that they're going to be a lot stronger going forward as they should have been woken up by these two losses. But people tend to have recency bias and think that they're weak.

They're still the best team by far - don't forget that. Anything over 1.1x on them are great odds in the Olympics.

Agree and even if they lose twice in a row, I'm hesitant to bet against them because I think that it's just a waste of money because they are a strong team. I grew up watching team USA blew their opponents by almost 40 points and betting against them is hard for me now lol.

Maybe after the elimination games in the Tokyo Olympics, we can figure out who's the best team that had the chance of beating the US squad and just go for it with eyes closed.

This is just  a  exhibition match so its really not a big  deal  to see them losing since provably they are adjusting on their current line up, For  sure we can see them dominate on world stage since for sure there they will burst there talents to win another gold medal and create another history. I will not  also go bet against them since its suicide for me to bet a well known strong team and for sure my bet always goes to them.

Didn't check out the odd for D'tigers to win against team USA, but it would have sure been a massive one considering the line up of both teams, however since that victory and the second against Argentina; D'tigers odds to win gold at the Olympics has risen significantly and now only about five teams are considered by bookies to have a better chance than team Nigeria.

As the only African team at the tournament they would surely be getting lots of support from the continent and it would be huge if they return with a medal.

The history of the NBA cannot be separated from the role of US-class players, but for this time they must admit that the Nigerian basketball team is able to provide a new color in the game of US glory which they have conquered in the last round.

what D'tiger did was one of the key openings where facing Argentina later he will be the dominant center to win the Olympics this time.

Yeah, most likely this will be the odds @10.00 for Nigeria to win.

In any case though, Nigeria has some NBA players in their roster that's why they were able to 'upset' US. There were video of Precious Achiuwa of the Miami Heat denying KD of a dunk. And I think that dictates the tempo of the game already.

It’s been sad watching the US team play. Almost every trip down the floor they try to lean into a foul and the referees just look at them like they’re crazy. It’s embarrassing. The NBA has gotten so weak with their foul calls that drawing fouls seems to be the team USA game plan. I really hope they learn to play real basketball again before the olympics.

You cannot see a real good defensive plays in the NBA compared to the Euro League.
As Luka once said, he can score easily in the NBA than he was still playing in his country team.
NBA is indeed becoming softer and softer as time passed by.
They complain almost every possession. Especially Lebron.

I'm not quite sure but I guess basketball teams from European countries can beat the USA team today.

I can't remember what the odds for Nigeria to win, but I saw them in sportsbet.io. US was like 1.0x the favorite to win, if I'm not mistaken.

They really need to work it out, lots of adjustment to make, I'm pretty sure by the time the real competition in Olympics takes off, the team has somewhat build a chemistry and could smothered their opposition with huge leads.

Thye just won a game against Argentina and it's was a blow-up win winning by 28 points they may have lost their first two matches, but in this match, they have shown their true form all their players are getting their range still see them as the team to beat this Olympic, but there are a lot of great team from other countries as well so they are still not sure of their winning the gold in the Olympic.
