usa police will sell bitcoins for billiards of usd so bitcoin will  be killed totally

agree ?

This has to be a joke. This is a joke, right? Nope? OP is serious, wow.

Even though they sell their Bitcoins, it won't kill Bitcoin, lmao. I assume it will be a p2p transfer of BTC, thus will not make the price drop. If the price drops, it will be because of those people with weak hands and have been frightened with this FUD.

Where do you think police have billions of bitcoin stored?

Billions? We only have 21 Million Bitcoin at maximum. How did they even manage to accumulate billions of Bitcoin? Roll Eyes

They will sell bitcoins for billiards?
Man they are stupid, they should sell them for pizza!!!!

Made my day. lol  Grin

According to Amazon you can get a fancy pool table for USD 3,000.

BTC 3,800 * USD 14,500 = USD 55,100,000 / USD 3,000 = 18,366 pool tables.

That would be enough for me to play on a different, brand new pool table every day for the rest of my life.

Not a bad deal to be honest.

I don't play pool tho
Sorry mate but I would have to disappoint you. Their stock is probably not big enough to provide 18,366 pool tables. Maybe it is better to set up your own manufacture for that money.
Anyway everyone why think that the auction on those BTC will dump the price should understand that the auction will be held outside the crypwo market. Which means that the BTC rate will still remain at the same point untill the winner will dump his coins in a single time (which will be a stupid move).

USA authorities should sell bitcoins for pizzas of USD, not billiards of it as they can get 15 colored set of balls, one table and cue sticks to play they will regret to sell that bitcoin over billiards of usd  Grin
where the hell can they get a large amount of volume bitcoin to sell in order to kill as if the exchanges will agree about this, they better play some billiard games to kill their boredom rather than to mess with bitcoin.

Don't let others control your BTC -> self custody
So, as I said, go with pizza. Quick math and that will give you around 100 triple box treats from PizzaHut for each day of the rest of your life.  Grin Grin Grin

And obesity followed by a heart attack from all that dough with cheese after 10 years of stuffing yourself with 3 pizzas a day... You better invite some women for a pizza and get some children on the way or those coins will end up back in the government's hands Wink

If they are selling then somebody will be buying, right? How does that destroy BTC? There were many auctions in the past, did they destroy BTC?
People who bout at all the previous auctions are now even richer than before. Also, off-exchange trading doesn't impact the price.

ye that's funny thinking about it now, but I bet none of you guessed the price would go up so much. anyway even if they kept all their seized coins I don't think they would affect the price dramatically, maybe abit but nothing noticeable.

Basically, bitcoin it is not so popular in US. most of the bitcoin investor are non american. US will not support to bitcoin as it is the main threat for the US dollar monopoly. I believe, promoting bitcoin might be the idea to reduce the US dollar monopoly form the world market. So no need to wary.

Pfft. Kill bitcoin, you can try. US police doesn't have much bitcoin and not all of them know on how to use it. Even governments can't Rey "killing bitcoin", what the heck will USA police do? Such lame questions, good lord, how do you manage to come up with these. Enough with this already. Go and have a candy.

Nothing to see here, move along.

Smiley I agree, this is free market and no one is alone strong as to kill the market. I think even someone with a million bitcoin cannot kill the market, market recovers in a short time.

The US does not manage all the bitcoins. If such an event occurs, we can only see a temporary drop in the price of the Crypto currency, but then they will necessarily grow back. Well, this event will not be beneficial to someone.

I wonder if they sell the fork coins along with it? BCH alone would account for another USD 10,000,000,- on top.

Wow, nice catch!!!

I guess OP is referring to the seized silk road coins, most of which already have been sold in 2013 - 2015.

Apparently more than BTC 288,000 in total:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silk_Road_(marketplace)#Arrest_and_trial_of_Ross_Ulbricht

Well played, well played.

Whatever BTC the FBI has left, if any, would be hardly noticable in today's market.

It's about this:
https://www.usmarshals.gov/assets/2018/bitcoinauction/

This sealed bid auction is for approximately 3,813.0481935 bitcoins (structure details below). The required deposit to participate in this auction is $200,000.00 USD.

Probably they will end up selling them at a higher price than the market price, it won't be the first time.

Interesting, makes sense that they were able to seize additional bitcoins from other investigations. Just short of 4,000 BTC is kinda cute though. If they were to sale those coins on regular exchanges like the rest of us that would account for a whopping 0.5% of daily trading volume. That's quite a kill switch indeed.

I wonder if they sell the fork coins along with it? BCH alone would account for another USD 10,000,000,- on top.

Where is my ring of blades...
every time there is an auction some random people say the same thing, of course usually they say price will drop but OP went all out with his FUD and said bitcoin will be killed LOL.
and the funny thing is that price has never even moved because of this type news to this date whereas technically speaking a news like this can cause a dip of small size like 5%-10% but so far it has never happened.

and it is for a good reason too. these coins are not auctioned to be sold on the exchanges. and it is not small amounts. it is a large amount of bitcoin bought by only one person and that one person should be brain dead to even try and sell what he has just bought off the market on the market to crash his investment.

As long as they don't sell 'em for snooker tables, we're safe.

PS: Even if the DOJ still had major reserves of Bitcoin to sell (though I don't think they do, the major auctions have already taken place years ago), it wouldn't destroy the market. It would just increase liquidity at best.
