I think Bitcoin and the dollar should be the most important basics on which to build the whole world economy. These two systems should work together
unfortunately dollar are only widely used in its country and to people who know about international transaction, not an ordinary person who lives on their own country and use their own local fiat,it will be better if bitcoin work together with any fiat around the world rather than with only dollar
Of course that would be good, the more the better, we have a lot of options to do while bitcoin is our investment and fiat is use in spending our money when bitcoin is not available for a certain transaction. Since bitcoin is limited, we cannot rely fully on our daily needs to it.

Nah. I prefer Bitcoin to remain an alternative currency for people looking to work outside the banking system where they can also avoid the government.

If Bitcoin becomes part of the financial system, then it will be subject to all kinds of ridiculous laws, changes, governmental implementations, and the list goes on.

In that respect, you'd surely wish it would never come that far. That's why we must appreciate Bitcoin for what it is, and what it can do for us.

No, it is not. USD is more popular than bitcoin. It's been more than 100 years since the Dollar rule the world. Currently, on this planet, there are still many countries using USD which is subsidized by the America during their hardest time such as Cambodia, Haiti, etc. Bitcoin is a new currency and it needs more time to develop and attract people attention. And surprisingly, with only 8 years, Bitcoin has been well-known and has been accepted on many marketplaces including Steam, one of the largest online gaming platform. Therefore, in my opinion, 20 years later, bitcoin will be an important part of this world which is mostly used by people on earth and even aliens ( if they were exist)

Yes, I agree, US dollars was more popular than bitcoins. Maybe Bitcoins was already known by lots of people but still US dollar is more popular, It is the currency most used in international transactions and is the world's primary reserve currency. maybe years later, bitcoins will reach the popularity of USD but for now still USD is the international money that many people honor.

I agree with you mate. USD is really popular that even other rich countries uses USD as their standards when it comes to their currency value. Bitcoins will still remain and more people will join bitcoin community but it will not be that much famous compared to USD.

there's still alot of people who didn't know what bitcoin is. so i would say that usd is more popular than btc but for us which is bitcoins user BTC is more popular for me than USD if that's what you asking. maybe next 5 years bitcoin will be use in the whole world as a digital currency. more investors in btc the more bitcoin will grow. look up on google about the graph of bitcoin and you can see it's not stable but it grows rapidly Smiley
Bitcoin is already a digital currency that's used by the whole world. But maybe you meant "being used by the majority in the whole world...". I wouldn't say 5 years if that's the case. I wouldn't even say a specific number of years or even a range for mass adoption because we're still far from there. There are still places in the world where there's no internet connection and people who are closed minded when it comes to introducing a new currency.

With the exchange from bitcoin to dollar that could also help with its popularity right? We know dollar is the main currency that have been used for exchanges in the world and we really got used to it. So, that might also be one key for bitcoin, for now.
I really think the reason why is dollar so popular is because it's the currency of US and not because it's being used in money exchanger all around the world.

USD is not the main currency in the exchangers around the world, every exchangers in different countries have their own local fiat as the main currency but only based on the value of bitcoin to USD,definitely not all exchangers use USD

If you purely look at the adoption and usage of the US dollar, then Bitcoin is nothing more than a tiny dot in the entire picture. Sure, Bitcoin will definitely grow in the coming years, attract much more people, money, etc. But even with that in mind, Bitcoin will never even reach 1% of what the US dollar is standing for when it comes to market cap and usage/adoption. Bitcoin is nothing more than an alternative. This won't change.

[/quote]

That's true. A digital decentralized alternative is what it is. It would never replace usd, that's wishful thinking. Yet, bitcoin's market potential is still virtually untapped

Bitcoin is already being used in the whole world as digital currency. But I think you refer to Bitcoin being the main digital currency of the world after 5 years? If so, then definitely not. Especially when you consider that fiat payment platforms everywhere in the world are getting better and more advanced. With that I mean that people get to enjoy zero cost transactions, instant payments, insurance on their purchases, etc.

more investors in btc the more bitcoin will grow.

More investors are being attracted by the investment side of Bitcoin, and not directly for the currency aspect. But yes, the more investors will dump their money into Bitcoin, the better it will be for the price in the long run. It all depends on the volatility. If the volatility continues to stay for plenty of years, which I am fairly sure is the case, then these investors will also stay. But if they at some point leave, the market will definitely feel it.

can not deny that today the dollar is still a means of exchange is very important for the wider community. When compared bitcoin with the dollar, then the dollar is still a means of exchange that is good, because everyone has to know and accept the dollar as legal tender, but bitcoin has not reached without it, because I'm sure not everyone knows bitcoin, and not all people accept bitcoin as a medium of exchange

If Dollar dies, everything dies. Simple as that.

Simple Logic: If bitcoin was better than Dollars, why does everyone freak out when we see a crash? If bitcoin was that good, you wouldn't give a fuck about the price drops right?
simple but correct answers from you because i could not imagine if someday dollar crash or even dies that will have bad effect to the most of countries in this world but if bitcoin dies or dropped there is no bad influence for the countries but crash price for bitcoin only have bad effect for bitcoin users that's why bitcoin will never beat dollar
Yeah I agree with you both that bitcoin won't even pose a challenge to the usd in a very long time. although it may be that bitcoin will be widely used in the future, the dollar is far too superior than any cryptocurrency and I think that would be the same in decades to come. but I think not all currencies actually depend on the dollar here. it may be that the dollar is where most currencies base but not all are dependent on it.
I'm used to make the Internet a single currency, and then change the money for dollars and this implies that the dollar is more like it. Just a bitcoin is nowhere to go at all. In the neighborhood I do not know whether there is at least one store that accepts bitcoin. So the dollar is still needed.

Yup.Just same like me.Even though i earning Bitcoin via online,i cannot purchase anything using Bitcoin at my country especially in my state.Even in city, there are no shop that accept bitcoin for the payment.I still need to sell my bitcoin first to exchanger for convert it into cash.

US dollar probably the most use and popular currency in the world. Bitcoin is just starting to introduce to the people. US dollar still the powerful currency. But if bitcoin just introduce at the early years, i guess it will be a different story now.  But some countries banned bitcoin and this is the thing that blocking the bitcoin from becoming more powerful.

Yes, the government - this is the worst enemy for Bitcoins. Therefore, Bitcoin will never be able to replace the dollar. We must accept the fact that Bitcoin will always be an alternative currency

The dollar is still more affordable than any other currency. So if bitcoin attempt to move the dollar from legitimate laurel, the world market in general will begin a revolution after the country will begin to pour their wealth.

That's the fact that people are more likely to depend with dollars as it is the most used currency and many local currencies are depending with it. But there is no need for comparison of bitcoin to USD for they are both important to all of us. It is just depending on how you will use those currencies and of course USD will always be used.
Exactly, USA is a big country and they have a good economy and I would not be surprise if majority of bitcoin users are coming from america. If US will intend to use bitcoin which I doubt then probably we will have a better economy as people will really adopt which makes the price to skyrocket.
