Now, imagine if a mainstream company creates a Blockchain token that could be used at Gas Stations worldwide? This would definitely increase adoption of crypto and Blockchain tech within the mainstream world like never before. After all, paying for gas is a necessity these days for transportation.
I agree these days, need of transportation is everywhere as harvesting (and manufacturing) and its consumers are not at same places hence requirement of transportation has been wildly increased but in my country fuels are available for various mobile payment apps. Not just one or two apps being accepted but each one everyone and if I remember correctly in recent times I noticed such a list which was saying more than 10 apps being accepted there. I was thinking like one day I will pay here with my cryptos.

Moreover, adopting cryptos by fuel industry definitely will boost awareness of cryptos. But, I guess first we need internet based market giants to adopt cryptos. Imagine if Amazon starts accepting cryptos or Microsoft or Apple in their online stores, I believe these kind of adoption must need to happen first before we are expecting fuel station kind of physical/offline sectors.

I think this will involve the government if you want to implement the gas pump block chain, and it's not easy, in my opinion, will definitely be taxed etc.
Continuing to fill gas stations using a mobile phone is also very dangerous and I think it is not an efficient way and I think the filling will remain as before but the payment for receiving crypto is very good.

if using a smartphone device to perform crypto transactions at the gas station is indeed very dangerous, because the cellular signal radiation will trigger a spark if it is near it.
but maybe there will be another way to use a special card to make payments, so it will be safer when you want to make payments using crypto.

It is cool when we use cellphones to fill the car tank automatically, but this still involves a worker filling it and an automatic worker must receive payment with blockchain technology and it is very cool, the problem will be resistance to the government

I agree on the above post it's not safe to buy gas with while online in your phone when paying crypto on the gas station.

Maybe if they can develop a crypto that can be send offline maybe it will be fine but if it needs internet it is not safe.
Remember gas station always have caution and phone should be always in airplain mode when using it near gas station.
I think become dreaming in my sleep well because my country look disagree bitcoin become legal transaction currency payment, I support for every country have possibility using bitcoin as legal currency payment like using crypto at gas station where payment more faster than cash money or other fiat currency, but how safety if using crypto as payment transaction at gas station.

It's useful because not everyone has cash on their hands. It is a faster kind of  transaction. You also have a history which becomes a document of your account to ensure that your funds are sufficient. Through this people might earn more too since people work in cryptocurrency networks. The security is great which means you have a lesser chance of being scammed.

Isn't it dangerous if the transaction signal queue can trigger the gas to overflow and become a fire? unless previously ordered with the application system in advance.
If this system is created, there will be a safer way to pay and this will probably be paying in advance.

if they don't use stable coins, many will be confused by the ever changing rates.
To solve this, at least they can create stablecoin.

So, IMO the problems you said are like trying to stop someone who wants to set up this system. The problems are not too big to be solved.

It's 2020, yet crypto and Blockchain technology are still in their infancy. The introduction of smart contracts (via the Ethereum blockchain) to the mainstream world, has opened up a plethora of possibilities that were never imagined. Many companies have launched their own tokens via ICOs, IEOs, and even STOs. On the hand, stablecoins have been the hottest trend within the crypto space as they provide the convenience of Fiat with the security of the Blockchain.

Now, imagine if a mainstream company creates a Blockchain token that could be used at Gas Stations worldwide? This would definitely increase adoption of crypto and Blockchain tech within the mainstream world like never before. After all, paying for gas is a necessity these days for transportation. This, coupled up with self-serve, could be quite revolutionary. I'd imagine people driving to a gas station and paying with crypto from their phone in their own car to get their gas tank filled automatically. This hasn't been implemented yet, but it would be cool to see it happen someday.

What are your thoughts? Huh

thats a great idea, excellent use case for blockchain one day id say! Smiley   i guess, yes, the only problem would be hacking :O
imagine the sketchy shit people could do, form evil shit, to simply getting free gas
of course, ATMS still run on Windows XP and thats considered an acceptable risk, so maybe a few hacks would be as well Tongue
some projects claim they are working on ways to verify, like checksums, smart contracts, so maybe that wont be an issue tho one day Smiley

i guess, it's already planned by people there. but the fact, its still hard to be realized.
many many problem to make it true, lets say we choose btc as a payment, since btc is the most crypto coin recognize in this world.
but we know exactly btc is very very slow, or we can choose ETH as a payment, since it's more faster than bitcoin, but the fact ETH have a high fluctuaction, maybe the price will not be right.
of course there will be parties who are disadvantaged because of that.
its just on payment problem, another problem such as regulation, partnership, etc, its hard bro.

On the other hand, it might be effective if applied at electric vehicle stations.
Agreed on this one. It would be dangerous to use phone inside our car to get the gas tank filled or near the gas station. It's not the use of phone that will ignites fire I think. But because cellphone's electrical current is enough to jolt a small detonator charge. But, if we're using a barcode, it does need a connection as well, do we not?

Not to mention the rate could changes every mins and any time. Nowadays we pay from our cards, if there's a bank that could store cryptocurrency and that one has a card like credit cards perhaps, it might work the same I think.

But it's a great idea nonetheless.

I completely agree with this. Imagine the ease of paying for a gas station with a single QR scan without paper money.
But the problem is how to promote it. In my country, every gas station can pay with e-money. And what I saw was that it was still lacking in public interest. Most of us still pay by fiat.

But it's dangerous mate. How could they develop a crypto payment but cant use phones? It will trigger and could blast if using near any gas station.

So for now I think fiat payment can still be good. Unless there is a crypto card that accept it but what is the difference with debit or credit card? None right? Maybe an offline wallet will do something that not connected to any phone usage.

Anybody here have on their country already trying this kind of adoption?

That's possible, we can see many people use internet banking for pay bills and I think that how iy works. But use it for paying in gas station is brilliant idea and if success, pay for ticket ( plane, boat, cinema, etc ) is the next level. Crypto must grow with the same level as blockchain because if not, there's possibility blockchain used for currency not crypto, nightmare isn't?

This is the actual future. The tokens would equate the volume of gas and the price depends on the market price of oil. You get the amount of gas you pay for.
Though it might not be able to be used around the world, it's easily possible in a country or territory that has similar prices for oil.
But again, I'd like to imagine this be done with fast charging station than on gas as gas station would soon be obsolete.

I think I've seen a gas station that accepts crypto but it's offshore that was posted here before and I can barely remember where that could be.
So, you saw it in real life? Not from reading an article/news? Once you found it, just post the picture or the link source if you got it from an article. I am curious to know it since it never happened in my country.

it's not safe to buy gas with while online in your phone when paying crypto on the gas station.
It is easy to get a solution. Just make a payment place at the entrance of the gas station. So, you will pay before you go in.

Actually, I don't focus on this side, but how the implementation of crypto payment can be approved by the governments. It is more complicated than discussing the payment technical.

That's why there are signs that no usage of phone while refueling. Good point. I think the adoption worldwide, there's no need to create a certain coin for this, we've got third party services that allow these merchants and businesses to convert bitcoin automatically to USD if they want to. And that's what they'll charge to their customers.
