Is it logical to use GPU cards for mining? ASIC machines are special devices manufactured only for mining. These devices are returning after a while as scrap. But yet high-end GPU cards can still be used, even if they lose the mining feature. The GPU cards can be used on the computer to play games. It's easier to sell GPU cards as second hand.

What are your thoughts about this?

As far as I am aware of ASIC is useful only for BTC mining, it has no or little resell value. GPU cards can be sold 2/3 of their value after a 100% ROI on them or on the whole systems used. So, I stick to GPU mining.
Plus BTC mining diffuculty only grows. GPU cards make mining easier because I can choose any coin or even dual mine them. I find Nvidia cards cooler and more quiet, but somewhat 1.5 times expensive. With Radeon I might suggest to look at the most heavy cards because they tend to have better cooling system (more metal used).

Plus, of course, I can play games or do some work with same old PC -.-

Currently ASIC machines on the market have values in TH / s. I do not know the power of GPU cards used for mining. Which is the most powerful GPU card on the market?

How many GPU cards does one Antminer S9 device equal?

https://shop.bitmain.com/specifications.htm?name=antminer_s9_asic_bitcoin_miner

a antminer s9 can do only 0.009 btc a day with 1400w of consumption per hour and cost $2k

a gpu mining rig(6x1070) can do 0.011 a day with only 700 watt and cost $2.8k or 0.075 with amd but cost $1.6k

ye and what are you mining whit gpus btc or alt coins? 0.011 from what zec , monero , eth?  and what amd cards do that ? 1.6k
cos iam making 0.016 whit 4x 1060 stock

you can't make 0.016 a day with just 4 x 1060, there is no coin paying that much, you are math is probably wrong

yes it was zec for nvidia, monero and eth for amd

4x1060  1x980 ti

still impossible, what coin you are mining? only pascal coin can give that right now, but you need luck...

There is no "one true answer" as each coin is different, but there is a simple short guideline.

Coins that have an ASIC option, GPU mining makes zero sense as a GPU can't compete with specialised hardware and will lose money.

Coins with NO ASIC available and that are GPU mineable it makes sense where the coin can be mined profitably (or at least at close to break if you are hoping for a big pump at some point).

Coins with no ASIC and no GPU program available, it's not an option.

100% agreed. OP needs to pick a crypto to mine 1st and then base decisions on hardware 2nd. being a monero miner, i'm running Wolf AMD OpenCL miner using 3 AMD GPUs (dual core R9 390 and a RX480) and my CPU.

gpu mining is more flexible, than asic mining. u can mine those alt, which is more profitable right now, also u can sell gpu to gamers. As for me i will make my own gpu farm, not asic.

you have to look this way , 1 TH/s is 10000 H/s  so my gtx 980 ti that has cost 800 eur last year is making around 470 H/s it think 1080 will make litel more , but the point is you need 2 gpus that cost 1600 eur to make  1 GH/s = 1000 H/s the you need 20 gpus for 1 TH/s that will cost you 32k eur +- 2k (if you get discount) and you are still not br there what will you get from antminer , and there is the elect bill 2 gpus take around 300W * 20= 6000W .  that is if you will be farming Zcash whit that speed i dont now how much speed you will get on bitcoin newer testes whit my rig , but i think that it is not far away Wink Gpu you cant compere whit antminers they are made only for that coins (bitcoin), if you get that speed in alt coins that other story then you will be making some money.

GPU mining is profitable with altcoins that don't have ASICs.
Not for Bitcoin however, no. Even if you had free electricity, mining Bitcoin with GPU would be painfully slow.

investing in a high-end gpu is good for gamings, editing, and so on. It can also mine some bitcoins, and alt coins. But the question is how much? is it safe? is it a good investment? maybe if it has a dual purpose like if you are a gamer and you need an extra income, then its a good investment. But if you will just invest a gpu for mining its not okay.

there a specialized machine that works with mining of bitcoin. instead of buying gpu why would you buy specialized machine to do the job. they are maked to mine bitcoins. and it is much safe for that it work with this field. gpu is not specialized for mining. so better use those specialized machine for mining rather than a gpu if you're not a gamer. or an editor.

Actually, I want to know exactly how many GPU cards I have to buy for bitcoin mining. Which is the most power GPU cards do you have in the market? For example, instead of buying one ASIC machine, can we buy hundreds of GPU cards and do bitcoin mining?

ETH or Zcash.

Have you read his question, or just throwing random words from your dictionary?

Maybe he's farming the account, about half of his posts are like this. Maybe not and he's just lazy to type the whole sentence.
